Andy Ross was an excellent choice for building my new decking.
He and his brother honoured the date for the work to start even though it was approx 6 weeks away.
Andy called me the week before to confirm the start date. And they arrived early on the appointed day.
Unusual for many tradesmen in my experience!
They had a very challenging job as the ground was rough and uneven. And a large area - 5 x 5 metres.
They gave me an estimated fixed price which worked out pretty accurately.
Their work was excellent, to a high standard, and finished within the estimated timescale. The site was left near and tidy.

Andy very polite gentle man who's quote was very clear listing all the products to be used which enabled research on them easy. Happy with the quote and the products I went ahead. The roofers arrived and worked hard to strip the original felt roofing tiles. They discovered some of the eaves boards on the garage needed replacing and this was agreed and completed. The underlay was put on but not the underlay stated on the quote. I had been quoted for all Katepal products which I had researched and was happy with as it came with a 35 year guarantee .
The job continued and I realised they weren't installing eaves trays. Andy said he'd sort this but unfortunately he purchased plastic felt support trays which are designed for use under a slate/clay tiled roof. These were put up and it soon came apparent that they were not going to work. The roofer told Andy on the phone they were the wrong ones but he was told to continue. Andy then suggested filling the gaps between the pieces with off cuts of DCP. The weather turned and the roofing had to stop. If the underlay had been the stated Katerpal it wouldn't have mattered as it was totally weather proof even able to withstand -0 temperatures for month if required.
The weather contained to be changeable and so the felt which stated it had to be tiled soon after installation came wet and then the hot sun dried it causing it to bubble up in areas. the plastic felt supports also twisted in the heat and the gaps between the pieces widened and some of the tiles they had fitted at the front of the garage were lifting due to the movement of the plastic trays. It looked awful and my neighbour commented on it. At this point I decided to contact the UK Katepal supplier and had the correct eaves tray delivered the next day. Andy was on another job which happens when weather stops work so I read the instructions, which are so simple and after removing the plastic trays on three sides and fitted the tin trays myself on all but the front where the felt tiles had been fitted and a 2.5m section I couldn't access above the potting shed ( I am Aged 61). However, I did prepare the trays for installation.
We needed two dry days to fit the tiles . The first to dry out the underlay the second to install the tiles. We set a day but Andy cancelled because of the weather forecast and booked in for the following Saturday. The roofer came I helped him install the remaining eaves trays and he removed the remaining plastic trays from under the fitted tiles. They left at noon and still the roof was not tiled. They came last Wednesday tiled the right side and reinstalled the gutter in my absence. Andy contacted me saying they were leaving early as they'd need scaffolding to complete the job. They arrived the next day as we were preparing to go on holiday. We left them with the rear of the garage to complete and the resealing of the plastic panels on the roof of the potting shed.
I received a bill with the added extras on our return, which was fair for the agreed extra work. However on viewing the work the gutter will need lifting at one side. it had not been put back in its original position. On inspecting the roof of the potting shed only sections down the panels had been reseal not the fully panel edges. and most disappointing was that they'd used staples on some of the shingles on two sides of the garage roof. After the problem with the plastic eaves trays I had spoken to Andy and said if their were any problems which occurred with the roofing please don't use just a quick fix that might damage the guarantee on the roof. I wanted it done correctly even if there was an added cost. It would pay in the long run.
The use of staples on the surface of the finishing tiles has compromised this. If I'd been here I would have stopped it and sort another solution if the tiles were lifting by simply contacting the firm.,who I might add I did to ask them about how to install the tin eaves trays at the hips. They emailed back sending 5 colour CAD drawings they'd created , showing how to do it step by step. That's the Fins for you!
Andy's a nice man his roofer is a hard worker but he needs to use the products he quotes for and when a problem arises make sure the solution is the best and not a quick fix, this save time in the long run. I will fix the gutter and will then have to find someone else to complete the sealing of the panels on the potting shed roof.

Andy Ross did a fantastic job on our new 6ft fence including concrete posts and gravel boards. I would definitely recommend this company and would definitely use again .
