Great gym bubba,,,,,,, never been there

I love this place! It's all weights and minimal cardio machines! The weights are all racked and organized by weight! My OCD is soo happy! Even though the place is full of dudes, they are all so focused on their workout, they didn't creep on the girls. Have a died and gone to gym heaven I only wish it was closer so I could join! At first I thought Bradley Martin opened this gym so he could start hitting the weights and get as big as Dom Mazzetti.  I clearly underestimated his business savvy, because as soon as you walk in this place you instantly feel 50% bigger just standing next to him!  Well played little guy.The only criticism I have is that when I pulled up, I thought I saw a daycare area here for children to play in, but when I entered I saw that it was just Bradley Martin doing hip raises with a Swiss ball.Other than that, it's a fun gym with clean, new equipment and weights.  It's almost as if Bradley Martin has never even touched most of them, though that's pretty obvious just by looking at him. Been a member for a couple of months, don't really have anything negative to say except during peak hours some members still find it necessary to have multiple tripods with cameras recording their warm up sets, so you have to avoid the cameras like lasers.  Gym has around 8 squat racks (more if you wanna setup tightly with someone), I believe 7 benches, and 4 deadlift platforms (but you can easily have more people deadlift than that since the gym has crazy amounts of barbells to choose from). Dumbbells go up to atleast 200lbs, probably even 250s. More weight plates than any other gym. Bumpers, metals, and calibrated plates. Gym has all the necessary machines for its size, of course it could use some more but you can easily get any kind of workout done here.  People who work out here are friendly, no one is going to complain if you have to use a rack or a bench for over 30 minutes. Feel free to use it all day. Staff always greets you when you enter, and they're always making sure weights are racked and the gym stays clean. Atmosphere at the gym is crazy too. People group up and hype you up for your PR attempts, and the more experienced lifters are always down to help.   Membership cost is $70 which is fairly high, but there's no bullshit contracts filled with "$100 maintenance/cleaning fees" so it's a flat $70 and you can cancel anytime. Price is high, but the gym is worth it for your not-so-average lifter.  I've heard a lot of complaints about parking since the gym only has about 4 designated parking spots in front of the door, but there's ALWAYS parking at the corner of the plaza which is only about 45-60 second walk which seems to be way too much for most of the powerlifters here. First off, I would give the place a five star rating if parking was better and the day pass was a little more reasonable. That's the only knock on Zoo Culture . I worked out on a Friday morning before 9 am. Plenty of parking at that time but the location is in a small strip mall where each business has designated spots and I'm not sure how they do it at full capacity. Luckily that wasn't an issue for me. The place is clean and people are very friendly. I was welcomed by Auggie when I walked to the counter. He was doing some vacuuming and keeping the place pristine. Very friendly guy and helpful. I paid my $25 for the day pass (I think that's a bit pricey and I'm in the SF Bay) and began checking the gym out. It's a very modest sized gym but they did a great job equipping the place. They have all the bases covered from Olympic lifters, power lifters, and bodybuilding; even a little CrossFit influence. I love the dumbbells. They have an oversized grip and are solid ends not individual plates so you can drop and there's less clanging or issues with plates getting loose. All of the equipment is very well maintained  and clean. There are so many gym options in LA and the Valley but if you have wanted to check out Zoo Culture (because you're a Bradley Martyn fan or you want to take Instagram photos while you get that pump) I think it's worth it. Best gym I have found in the valley. Most gyms you have to make adjustments because they don't have everything you need for every body part. Here they cut no corners. Literally have equipment to target every single muscle group without having to figure out how to substitute for missing equipment. All the machines work, the people there are actually there to workout (not sit on equipment while scrolling on their phones) and the music is great. I'm a fan and almost don't want to hype it up too much and attract the non serious folks and mess it up. People there really work. One bad thing is parking. Awesome gym. Obviously Zoo Culture opened up rather recently but everything is brand new and taken care of. The vibe of the entire place is really cool. It's got the dungeon/warehouse feel while also being very clean, organized and spaced out. They were playing heavy rock/metal pretty loudly while I was there which is such a relief compared to my gym at home which plays top 50 .  All of the equipment in ZC is solid, if that makes sense (nothing wiggled or moved in any way it shouldn't). Lots of custom made/logo'd equipment gives the gym a very unique look. Is it just me or are the benches slightly wider than other gyms? Don't get me wrong, I actually loved that! I feel like a lot of things here are tailored for taller/bigger guys. ZC does not have locker rooms/showers for anyone wondering. They have multiple M/F bathrooms as well as two water fountains, and a a bunch of lockers. There is also a chalk bowl by the lifting platforms which is a major bonus. The staff was super friendly and seems to really enjoy being there. I came from Cleveland and had to choose between muscle beach, golds and ZC to get a lift in before I returned home, and I am 100% content with choosing Zoo Culture. I didn't catch the monthly rate but if I lived in the area this would most definitely be my gym. The only downside is that I didn't see Brad but what can you do? I still got a sick pump though! And I have yet to see Bradley be anything but nice to everyone. I've seen him spend hours talking to people and taking pictures with whomever requests it. I'm not sure what the previous posts about his attitude or behavior are really about. The only reason I'll give it 4/5 stars is proximity; of course, that's not the owner's fault or problem, but I hope this is a lucrative venture & he's able to build one in the South Bay Area just over the hill; I WORK in the Hollywood area, but live in the South Bay. Everything about the gym other than that is PERFECT! I love the exclusivity and uniqueness of the equipment which only one gym that I go to in this area which I'll leave out as not to attract any potential negative attention to Brad, that HAD the potential of his gym, but over the past 3-4 years has allowed its "staple" equipment break and remain unserviced and in typical shady fashion "removed for service".. PERMANENTLY.  Anyway, congrats sir on this new and unique gym and I hope to either join IF I buy a home (soon) in the valley OR hopefully Brad's able to open an additional gym down the hill. Came here earlier today (1 day since the grand opening) and spent 2hrs here. The Zoo is a solid gym. It's a true powerlifting gym that really has everything you want. If you're into the SBD (Squat/Bench/Deadlift) lifestyle this is your gym. Looks like monthly dues are under $60/mo. I know commercial gyms can range anywhere from $10/mo to $45/mo or so. I don't mind paying extra because of the range of equipment and atmosphere. My ONLY concern abt this gym is the parking and rush hour lifting (after 5pm) during the week. If there's no parking in the front, you gotta go to the back and walk around. I came in on a Sunday and there were roughly 40 ppl in there. I'll check back once I experience rush hour lifting but since this is a new gym I expect it to be somewhat busy, but then again what gym isn't busy after 5pm?Brad Martyn was here and was making his rounds checking in with lifters and saying hello. WOW! This Gym has EVERYTHING!ENVIRONEMENT 5/5: The Culture is completely different from any other gym. Everyone is super friendly and there for you. The owner is always approachable and you can tell how passionate he is about providing you with the best experience possible and is so personable with you. You can find yourself looking at this place as not just a gym, but a place to hang out and spend some down time at. There's absolutely nothing like this anywhere in the valley. Airflow and lighting is really great. Which is needed here in the valley on those hot summer days.EQUIPMENT 5/5 stars: This stuff is top of the line and heavy duty. I haven't seen an ounce of plastic on any of the hardware. You can tell there was a lot of time and thought put into this equipment. If you're a body builder, power lifter cross fitter, into Strength/Agility/ Performance training or just a traditional gym goer for health, there's nothing ZOO doesn't provide for you.Dumbbells. Dumbbells.  Dumbells. There will be no shortage of dumbells on the busiest of days here. There is at least 2 to 3 sets of dumbells per weight! They start at 5 and end at 300. Yes 300! Barbells are also in a surplus. There's a variety of different barbells ranging from your traditional to mutliple grip settings including ones that have wider circumference and ones specifically for deadlifts and shoulder shrugs etc. The list goes on!SPACE/FLOOR PLAN 4.8/5 stars: It flows so well in terms of purpose. It's literally divided into muscle groups by the section. The reason I don't give it a 5 is because I wish it were only bigger so I can see what else this place could eith more space! As you come in, to the left you have your cardio. To the right you have the lobby that includes gym accessories and the BMFIT clothing line along with an assorted inventory of supplements and beverages. There's also a lounging area used as a GAMING SECTION with an XBOXONE & PS4! Say whatttt!?!? As you progress you have your cable section with multiple pully stations ranging from standing bicep curls to seated rows etc. Towards the center of the gym, you have about 20+ yards of turf starting from the front and going to the back, for more strength/power and stamina training where you can use things like sleds, weighted bear crawls, sprints etc.Everywhere you go there's not one square foot that goes unused. The space is maximized to the fullest and it's by no means cramped either. The placement of the machines was also kept in mind with convenience and diversity. You also don't have just one or 2 machines next to each other for each section. There's at least four to six per muscle group so you don't have to wait around for something to open up. There's bathrooms and water stations as well! Parking isn't bad either. There's parking in the front and back of the facility!PRICING 4.8/5 stars: it's not cheap but it's really not expensive either. I'd say you get more than what you pay for actually. Most gyms range from 20-100+ a month and don't provide much more than what this gym does. Sure there's no pool, spa or basketball court, however in terms of weight training this place trumps most including some of the gold gyms. I think also what it has going for it is there's really no gym in the valley that provides this level of uniqueness in terms of equipment, Quality of equipment and overall environment. It's well worth the $53 a month and have referred everyone I know in the area.OVERALL 5/5: From someone who's worked in gyms and trained all up and down California, I'd say this gym is well worth the visit and the investment. You truly won't find a gym like this anywhere in the valley nor many like it in California for that matter. If you're looking for a place that offers a great experience from start to finish with excellent customer service, top of the line equipment for any fitness enthusiast and an overall positive and uplifting environment, then friend, this gym is for YOU. The Owner Bradley Martyn continues to raise the bar in the fitness industry and ZOO truly does live up to any and every expectation. It truly embodies a family culture in bringing all walks of life together and does not stray away from making that it's number 1 focus. This Gym has given me a new purpose and rejuvenated me to get after my own goals mentally and physically. Come see what this place is all about and I welcome you to join us and please feel free to come say hi! Everyone has a journey so why travel alone? As the man says himself, "Let's get better TOGETHER!" Cheers!Jake Lobato More...
