Really good Indian food in an easily accessible location. The butter chicken and the chicken tikka masala are amazing. My only complaint would be that the prices are a little bit steep such as the extra charge for rice and the high price for a small mango lassi but the flavors are all there for sure!

Some of the apps were spicy. But the rest of the dishes were good. Some of the atmosphere could be improved but overall was clean.

From the outside this place doesn't look like much so be sure not to pass it. The interior and ambiance is very basic, not worth talking about but nothing is wrong with it. The food is great! I tried the butter chicken and paneer butter masala with raita (yogurt), naan and rice and it was delicious. Not too spicy but a good kick to it. Portions aren't huge but definitely enough. It's a bit pricey for what it is and for the setting but food is great so it's worth it. I'd recommend sharing obviously. Service was on point - attentive and friendly. Overall very much enjoyed it and will come back! If you don't like a quiet ambiance do not come on off hours. More...

A hidden gem in the midtown east area. Who knew there was such good Indian food here It's located downstairs and it's easy to miss this place when walking by. I was a bit hesitant to try this place based on their store front, but once I was inside, I was impressed by their decorative interior and spacious dining area. I got the palak paneer, a popular vegetarian dish which I was impressed. The curry was flavorful but I wish the cheese was cooked a bit longer so that it had a softer texture, but still great nonetheless. I still need to try their other dishes, which I hear tastes amazing (esp the chicken tikka masala). The service was wonderful and it was a bit empty surprisingly for a Saturday evening. Overall, this place is on the pricey end for the portion size, but I would come back here again with a larger party to try different dishes. This restaurant has a lot of potential, but I gave it a 4/5 rating because it didn't have that shock factor that I experienced eating Indian food in London. More...

Zaika has amazing taste! I was surprised to see the restaurant almost empty when I got there. I was hesitant at first if it would be good but everything turned out really well. The ambience is nice, not impressive but nothing to complain about either. The servers were very respectful, attentive and were helpful in suggesting when we couldn't decide. He asked us what our taste was like before suggesting which was much appreciated. The appetisers, entree and breads were all very good though a bit pricey. More...

Zaika is a gem that I was lucky enough to discover last February. The quality of food is highly underrated, and the dining room is quite spacious compared to competitors in the neighborhood. And don't even get me started on their selection of enticing cocktails inspired by a variety of global cuisines.I am always treated like a queen, whether I walk in wearing sweatpants and a North Face or a silk blouse and pencil skirt: Either way, I have never felt out of place. In short, Zaika is a peaceful, low-key yet contemporary setting to savour authentic Indian dishes. What I appreciate most is the ambiance; it is sultry yet warm and welcoming at the same time. Most notable is the electric blue lighting that carries over from the bar area into the main dining room. Perhaps most importantly, the noise level is never painfully high - the clientele is down to earth but also mindful when it comes to voice modulation, making Zaika the perfect setting for a first date or fifth anniversary. This blue vibe is also very forgiving, so if you're meeting up with VIP clients on less than 3 hours of sleep, no one will notice your dark circles ;-)The servers are attentive but not up in your grill, thankfully - I like to savour my dishes and don't like to receive the check before I ask for it, especially since I always order dessert. PS I highly recommend the paan ice cream. One item that I have not pictured below is the turmeric soup - it is an ideal dish for winter or early spring because they place the bowl on top of a votive to maintain its temperature. The flavor is mind-blowing. More...

After 4 hours on feet in Manhattan, we were so hungry and craving for Indian food. Thanks to the internet, we were just a few blocks from this restaurant. As we entered, I was blown away by the inside decore and very chic interior. For the first time in my life, I was impressed by the look of an Indian restaurant. The choices of food items on the menu were even more impressive. Since we were so hungry I had to tell the waiter to hurry up and to my surprise, the waiter was so gracious; he promised to bring food in 20 minutes for all, five, us (the words "gracious" and "waiter" never go together to describe service in an Indian restaurant)!Wait, wait there is another surprise; as soon as we gave our orders to the waiter, a beautiful young woman came to our table who happened to be one of the owners of this restaurant. She thanked us for coming to her restaurant and told us to let her know if she could do anything to make our experience at this restaurant more pleasant. Again, the first time I had seen in an Indian restaurant to have an owner come and greet you. She took the time to come to our table even though the place was jampacked. To make a long story short, the food was amazingly tasty, the price was reasonable, and the service was excellent. I hardly give my review on the restaurant, however, it would grossly unjust, if I keep this view, about Zaika, to just myself. I wish there was a Zaika like this where I live (San Jose, CA). Keep up the good work, Zaika and will see you next time when I come to NY again. More...

I came with a part of five and were seated as soon as we got there. The restuarant is very spacious and you don't feel like you're up under other customers. It's not loud so you can carry on a good conversation. We ordered chicken and vegetables samosas to start and then followed with butter and garlic naan bread and had punjabi chicken curry, Jeera aloo and lamb Rogon Josh. The lamb was the stand out for me for the night! But everything tasted  really good!!! Excellent food.  Ordered takeout and it couldn't have gone any better.  They actually called me and let me know the food was ready earlier than Yelp's estimate.  Lamb vindaloo, saag paneer, butter chicken, chilli naan bread.  All delicious, all fresh made, all had a depth of flavor indicative of great care, skill, and attention.  Vindaloo was tender chunks of tasty lamb in a perfect spicy red sauce with hints of citrus zests.  The Saag was fresh soft cubes of homemade cheese in an Indian spiced puree of spinach. Butter chicken was assorted pieces of boneless white meat in a perfectly cooked traditional butter sauce.  Definitely my new favorite midtown Indian restaurant. More...

Zaika is an excellent Indian restaurant located at midtown East side. They have lunch buffet at around $20. Although it's more expensive than Darbar, which is a few blocks away, their food choices are good and the place is spacious and not crowded at all.  I like that I don't feel cramped while eating and walking to the buffet area. Now for mealpal review, Zaika is one of my go-to places. They serve different menu per day, sometimes they have vegetarian menu and at times they have chicken masala or vindaloo. Now, I must say that of all restaurants in mealpal, Zaika is one of the ones that are true to their word about serving size. They don't make it a small portion just because you're a mealpal customer. I can assure you that when you order from here, you will definitely have your mealpal subscription's worth! More...

The other starter we opted for was keema Samosa. Most restaurants will have lamb keema but I was pleasantly surprised to find chicken Samosa and it was very fresh and well made. The main course checked all boxes across the board for me. The price reasonable, quantity enough and flavors perfectly balanced. The dal zaika is your typical dal makhni slow cooked for hours. I got the vegetarian lunch special and samosa chaat for pick up. Looks like they participate with meal pal, because when I got there there were a bunch of orders ready! Mine was hot and packed up within the window they gave. The curries were great and the pakora were still crispy despite being in a steamy container with salad and rice. Really good variety in the lunch box. It came with two different curry dishes, pakora, salad, rice, and naan. I definitely did NOT need the samosas but they were also delicious. I prefer my curries on the spicier side, but I didn't specify in the order and they had a little kick! If you don't like spice, I would try to leave a note and if you want your face to melt you definitely need to specify.
