Yours, Always

There are no words for how amazing Kara was throughout the entire planning process, and especially on the day. We hired her very early in our engagement and it was the best decision we made, hands down. Having her on board created a domino effect of awesomeness because she hooked us up with the very best vendors, all within our budget (and some well under!). She picked up on our vision immediately and knit our vague idea into this cohesive experience that just flowed so naturally. My photographer told me he’s never been to a wedding that ran so on time—despite having multiple locations, a huge wedding party, and a lot of moving parts, we were early to the ceremony (when does that happen ). The rest of the night was just exactly on the dot for every event. And I can’t even begin to describe how beautiful the spaces were—she had fantastic ideas that she executed at a VERY reasonable cost.We’ve gotten so many compliments on every aspect of the day, and it really comes down to Kara’s hard work. Every time we started to think something might be an issue, it turned out she’d already come up with a plan to fix it. And a lot of the potential problems we didn’t even hear about until the next day, because she’d just leapt in and smoothed it out before we could even notice. She even got a band playing across the street to hold off on their sound check until the speeches were over! We thought our wedding was just blessed by some mystical force that kept anything from going wrong—which in a way it was, because Kara definitely has some magical problem-solving powers going for her. I can't even begin to convey my appreciation for Kara...but I'll do my best to try. To echo others who said this about Kara, she really is an absolute dream. She kept my husband and I sane throughout the entire planning process, and truly went above and beyond for us. She is so professional, attentive to detail, organized, and respectful. Many times, she spoke with our venue and sorted out issues and details when there was confusion. She was amazingly communicative and responsive (especially when I would send her several late-night emails in a row with questions!), and helped me stay calm with her confidence, organization, and experience. Kara helped make the day go so smoothly and was always there when we needed her, but she somehow respectfully stayed behind the scenes. She facilitated a quick turn around/set up between the ceremony and reception beautifully, and the final product was absolute perfection. We can’t say enough great things about Kara’s help on our day. We hired her a little late in the planning process after thinking we’d be able to manage everything ourselves. During our first conversation with Kara, we knew instantly that she was knowledgeable, professional, and organized. She helped us tie up a few loose ends (and find the last few vendors for things), took over with the vendors we had booked, confirmed everything, and helped us figure out a lot of details. The only regret that I will ever have about my wedding is not hiring Kara at Yours, Always sooner. She was the coordinator for my wedding, which essentially means that it was her job to take my mass of disorganized bookings and vague wedding fantasies and make them somehow seamlessly real. The reviewer who describes Kara as a 'human Xanax' is so on point. It was the first thing my husband said when he met her, and one of the most striking elements of her personality. She's funny, professional, and on top of everything, being next to her is a little like being given a weighted blanket and a cup of honeyed tea. Whether or not you know it yet, it's exactly what you need on your wedding day.She coordinated bus rides for 130 people to two different locations, dueling pianos, floral installations, bakery deliveries, winery timelines, and ... well ... everything, and everything ran smooth as silk. I honestly don't know what I would have done without Kara. My wedding went off without a hitch and was (in the words of my step mother) "absolute perfection" and honestly, this was 99% due to Kara and the work she put in (I have to take at least a little bit of credit! ). When I told her I wanted a "hipster-y, moody vibe" she somehow took that vague description and created exactly what I didn't even know I wanted. Her eye for design, while keeping within my budget, was fantastic. She was communicative, professional, and supportive leading up to the wedding, and day of she was an absolute dream. Kara was somehow capable of having a hand in every single detail while maintaining some kind of ninja life distance from the action. I never really saw her, but every time I needed her she was there. I worked with Kara for a beautiful wedding at the Evergreen in Portland. I had never worked at that venue before and as a DJ it was great to get diagrams, timeline and helpful load in and set up tips well ahead of time from Kara via email. I found out from her that the venue was upstairs, and that the elevator was slow, and got crowded before the wedding. This was critical information because my role as the DJ is so important for the ceremony to be set up properly and on-time. On her recommendation I showed up extra early, and was glad I did for so many reasons.

During the event Kara was an absolute joy to work with. She has a very calm and smooth demeanor with a positive attitude which makes her a great leader for a wedding day. I have worked as a wedding DJ since 2006 performing at hundreds of weddings. I recommend Kara in the Top 5 wedding planners I have ever worked with based not only on her knowledge and professionalism, but her great communication skills and supportive role before and during the event.

It was awesome to be a part of such a spectacular event from start to finish. I can't wait to work with her again in the future.

I cannot recommend Kara enough! The month before my wedding she stepped in to organize and coordinate. I was just beginning to get a rush of updates/questions from all of my vendors at the same time, but Kara swooped in and assured me that she would take it from there. It was such a relief! Kara does it all. She is an incredible wedding coordinator/planner, florist, and all around wedding guru. I cannot speak highly enough about her attention to detail, ability to communicate quickly and effectively, and her calm under pressure; she is a true pro. Even though we knew our day fell in the middle of a busy wedding season we always felt like her main priority and she went above and beyond in every aspect of what she was hired to do. If I could point every one of my friends in Axe & Wedge’s direction I would, she and her staff made our day beautiful and so special. Here is a list of a few extra things Kara and her team did to make our day even more special:
1. When I ran out of time finishing the groomsmen's boutonnieres she finished them up like a true pro
2. She helped us configure our table layout, including 5 different options, a google maps satellite view, and organized last minute place cards when I added them in a few days before the wedding
3. She left the bride tribe a bottle of rose as we got ready in the morning
4. She made multiple flower market visits when the flowers we planned on using weren't available
5. Kara helped us order our flower vases from a wholesaler and dealt with the transportation and logistics of all of our flowers
6. She got everything done but also spent time talking with our families and everyone commented on how kind and caring she and her entire staff were
7. Our venue owner said that Kara was one of the reasons this was one of the most enjoyable weddings that they had hosted. They felt that the entire day was handled by a professional and had no concerns the entire time.

Kara was amazing to work with. She brought so much knowledge and experience. I gave her an idea of what I wanted and she ran with it. She did all the decorations, found vendors to fit our needs and our budget, did the florals, and even her husband jumped in to do the bar tending. We were so blessed by Kara's help. We had a baby in the middle of our 1.5 year engagement and we couldn't have had our perfect day without her. I would absolutely recommend Kara to all of my friends.

I played the ceremony for my friend's wedding, and Kara and Matt were absolutely incredible in keeping me informed of the wedding process, keeping my equipment dry when the weather was very unpredictable, and even bringing audio equipment and EQ'ing it so the piano sounded as best as it could! They are definitely both talented at a multitude of different aspects (design to handyman work to live sound expertise), which is such a bonus when it comes to something as complex as weddings.
