Over the past 5 years Dan has taken my son from a novice through grades 1-6 on electric guitar. He is very professional, yet informal and, from our experience, relates well to younger players through teenagers and youth. The rate of my sons musical skill improvement is huge in no small part due to the guidence and coaching of Dan - cannot recommend enough. More...

Having worked with Dan at BGA I can assure everyone that he is a total pro. Every single one of his students absolutely loved his teaching approach - He is friendly, enthusiastic and extremely motivated to deliver high quality guitar lessons. He is a very talented guitarist and an even better tutor! I would highly recommend going to see him if you are in Cardiff and looking for guitar lessons :) More...

I have been with YGA Cardiff for nearly a year with Evan Graham as my tutor. When I started I could strum 3 chords. Now I'm soloing over blues backing tracks in different keys, playing over classic rock tracks and know lots of chords. Evan is a great teacher and a brilliant guitarist. I would never have got to this stage without his help and the encouragement to practice every day. Thanks Evan and YGA. More...

Evan is super patient despite the fact I have as much musical talent as a dead woodlouse. He uses music that interests me rather than sticking with a standard syllabus and is great at building confidence. I can't recommend Evan and YGA enough, the online resources are amazing and super helpful. More...

My two daughters started lessons with Dan as absolute beginners and have made good progress. They both achieved distinctions in their recent exam and they have Dan to thank for keeping them focussed and interested. Dan adapts the lessons to their interests whilst ensuring they are continually developing their skills; they seem to get a good balance between the boring but necessary stuff and the things they like playing. They tell me he is very patient and funny, and they ALWAYS leave their lesson laughing! From my point of view, I find dealing with Dan very easy and stress-free. He is flexible when we can't always make the regular sessions and always keeps me well informed of their progress.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him. More...

I tried many times to learn the guitar without success until I met Evan. I have been having lessons with Evan for the past 7 months and my playing has gone from strength to strength. Evan is a great teacher, very patient and extremely knowledgable. If you struggle with something, he has an arsenal of techniques to help find a solution. His instruction doesn't end with the lesson. He gives a highly detailed description of your homework on your YGA account and goes to the trouble of making instructional videos to help with areas where you need help after the lesson. He is always happy to answer texts or emails if there is something you don't get between lessons. I should also mention that he is an unbelievably talented guitarist and it's a pleasure to watch him play.Without doubt, choosing Your Guitar Academy and Evan Graham to teach me guitar is one of the best decisions I've made and thanks to him, I am well on the way to becoming an accomplished guitarist. Thanks Evan. More...

He's really taken the time to go through all the basics of learning to play a guitar and shown me something I'd never thought possible. Extremely patient, excellent technical ability. I started out teaching myself from tab books at 17 and learned just enough to get by playing with friends. After a while I found myself getting stuck in the same patterns of playing things. Now at 42 and getting back to it after a long break, I came to the conclusion that even with the massive wealth of learning material on the internet these days, you need a good teacher to guide you.Dan is not only an awesome guitar player with the credentials to back it up, he also has the gift of being a great teacher.Dan targets each lesson, as well as the homework, to learning a particular aspect of the guitar and always explains the purpose of the lesson and the important thing to take away from it.To me now the guitar feels like a different instrument and the habits of some of my favourite guitar players make more sense. With Dan’s support I'm now more confident to discover and learn things I would have thought too difficult for me.I'm very happy with Dan and highly recommend him as a teacher for anyone wanting to learn guitar. My lessons with Dan have done exactly what I hoped, moved me out of my rut and taken me to explore new areas of technique and playing. I have played guitar of a fashion for many years, but have found it difficult to be disciplined enough to learn from internet tutorials for example. If I got to a hard bit I would skip it and move to a piece I could do easily, hence not progressing! Dan has changed that with the structure he brings and ensuring I perservere to get it exactly right. His depth of knowledge means that any question can get answered, and if necessary appropriate theory explained. using interesting pieces of music that I would never have thought of attempting. Lots learnt and much more to do! Thanks Dan and Guitar Academy. More...

Dan has brought me up to Grade 5+ standard in just six months. From teaching myself to play a few chords (pretty badly), Dan identified the areas I should work on and gave me all the tools (and confidence) to improve quickly. Dan’s lessons are extremely enjoyable, which makes practicing enjoyable and I've already got to a standard I didn't think I'd reach.Dan is particularly good at tailoring lessons to fit with what I want to get out of them. I have a strong interest in song-writing and he identifies the things I should be working on before I even know it myself, so I’m constantly improving my guitar playing and overall musicianship.Whether just starting out, looking to pick up the guitar again, or at a level where you're not sure how to go about improving, Dan would certainly be able to bring fantastic results. I found Guitar Academy and Dan a short while ago and in that time I find my playing and Theory moving on in leaps and bounds. I've bought many books and DVDs over the years but found myself just picking out bits and pieces and never making any real progress. Dan's patient approach is excellent, he knows his subject thoroughly and how to impart his knowledge in a relaxed happy fashion. Wish I,d met GA and Dan years ago,( could have saved a small fortune on books;) More...

Excellent excellent excellent ! Evan Graham is excellent as a music teacher and guitar player. I've learnt my way around pentatonic scales in major and minor keys. Figured out chord progressions in different keys. I'm playing more at home (five hours saturday afternoon ) than I've ever played before and all the lessons are on lines as well for motivation and if you forget anything its all on line in your account. All in all i can't fault Evan as a teacher and Your guitar Academy . I've come on leaps and bounds and I've only had four lessons ! More...

Having not had any kind of music lesson in years and a bad experience trying to learn how to play the violin as a teen I was slightly anxious about finally buying a guitar and starting lessons. I shouldn't have been though and only wish I had started sooner!I am enjoying my lessons with Evan very much. I have only had a few lessons so far but feel like I know a whole lot more than when I started just a few weeks ago. Evan is a very good guitar tutor, very patient and knowledgable. I have left each lesson feeling eager to get my guitar back out and practice. I have felt I've had plenty to practice between lessons but not so much that I have felt overwhelmed, just the right balance. Learning to play the guitar so far has been very fun!Highly recommended! Thanks Evan! More...

Great experience so far having guitar lessons from Evan, as a complete beginner he has made it very easy, accessible and enjoyable to start from scratch, and only a few lessons in I'm already finding myself to be a lot more confident in my own playing. The lessons are structured really well and allow me to go at the right pace without feeling under pressure, and the course material Evan provides helps to compliment the lessons perfectly.Really enjoying it so far, can definitely recommend Evan to anyone in Cardiff wanting to pick up the guitar for the first time! I have been with Dan for about 5 - 6 months now and I am currently getting ready to do my grade 3 exams. Considering that before I went to Dan I only knew 4 chords and a strumming pattern I am extremely happy with how much progress I am making. Structured lessons, plans ahead and always knows what to teach next. Never goes too fast however pushes you enough in order to keep you improving noticeably week by week. Cannot recommend Dan enough. I started guitar lessons with Dan Grice almost 12months ago having no guitar experience before. I immediately felt at ease from the very beginning. Every lesson I feel there is an improvement on the week before and I always achieved something new. The encouragement from Dan I get is second to none, each lesson is always structured and I get 100% (and more)out of it, progressing and developing more than I thought I ever could. I did start this journey a bit apprehensive but by choosing the Guitar Academy and with Dans GREAT teaching/support I'm solidly making achievement after achievement. Dan always makes sure I have a solid understanding and I never leave a lesson confused. I literally CAN NOT recommend the Guitar School enough but in-paticular Dan's BRILLIANT attitude and teaching style!! To anyone looking to learn the Guitar (from experience) this is the VERY BEST place to start! More...
