You do the shoot

Ben edited our wedding video back in July of this year and what an amazing job he did. From start to end, Ben kept in constant touch with us to check we were happy with all stages- from the delivery of the cameras, the support with the set up, suggestions of what to film to then the editing stages- making sure that the highlights were personalised to what we wanted. We also decided to have the uncut version of what had been filmed and we cannot thank Ben enough for sitting through hours of footage- sometimes some shots that are minutes long of just a wine glass or bud bottle when people have left the cameras on at the tables -to find the best moments. Most would have given up watching a clip of a table but Ben watched every single minute to see that someone may then pick the camera up off the table and film something memorable before the end of the clip. He found the bits that others may miss- the bits that make you laugh, help you experience the day from everyone who was there and make you want to watch it over and over again. He sent the finished versions to us much, much quicker than anticipated. Absolutely delighted with the results of our wedding video. The whole concept is perfect - it meant something extra special to know that our wedding was being captured by friends and family, but also allowed our guests to be themselves in the video. I cannot recommend using You Do The Shoot enough – we love our video so much! It completely captures the day, and we’ve loved looking back through all of the footage. We drew up a bit of a schedule for the wedding day so the filming duties were rotated around quite a lot of people which worked really well as everyone made lots of effort during their slot to get good footage! I was so nervous about the idea of shooting our own wedding video but Ben made everything so simple every step of the way. If you are contemplating whether or not to have a wedding video DO IT. We just watched ours and so glad we have a record of the things we were too giddy to remember! I was also great to see each other's mornings getting ready. The DIY-ness of You Do The Shoot really makes it for us. We didn't want a glossy cheesy music video type video. It's not us at all. WOW!!! Could not recommend You do the Shoot highly enough. The owner (Ben) was very understanding when we had to cancel our booking when my husband fell ill. Fortunately, we were able to plan a new wedding in a matter of weeks and again, Ben was very understanding and able to help us. The footage is amazing. So professional and they have picked out and focused on special/fun moments from our day. Everything from start to finish was so easy to do and the final product was unbelievable. Everyone at the wedding was so much more relaxed with their friends behind the camera rather than someone professional. The lovely little moments that a pro would never get were the best. Ben turned around the final video in a few weeks and was in constant contact about songs, and the length of the DVD when he found out the speeches were 1.5hours(!) long. Absolutely Amazing, youdotheshoot took our expectations and blew them out of the water. Had we had a professional videographer filming our day we wouldn't have captured anywhere near the level of love, emotion, fun and happiness from our day, then to have youdotheshoot edit the footage into something so fantastic just made it perfect. If you're undecided as to whether to use youdotheshoot and have your wedding filmed by your wedding party, then all we can say is...... do it!! I would just like to say that we were absolutely blown away with the 'You Do The Shoot' video. I was extremely excited and nervous to see what the footage had come out like as I really didn't notice the cameras on the day and so didn't know what bits were captured (which was a good thing! )! I think it was the final product was so natural and really captured the feel of the day because it was our friends behind the cameras and so they just seemed to blend in meaning everyone had so much fun interacting with them as they were passed around. I was also so impressed with your organisation in delivering/collecting the equipment and how easy the cameras were to work. It was also very special that we got to choose the songs and you were very flexible in creating something that was perfect and personal for us. Maid of honour here....I'd like to second that :) I honestly wasnt sure what to expect....guests filming themselves with handheld cameras. ...would it look ok? But the editing made it look so flawless it could have been professionally filmed (I did quite a bit of the filming...and I'm the clumsiest person I know!) and you'd obviously taken the time to work out who their two daughters were since they appear in alot of the video, not an easy task as there were a few similar aged little girls wearing similar outfits! I love how you captured their happy faces on the day...as you can imagine they weren't too good as posing for long periods of time so we all loved seeing them dancing and enjoying themselves on the day. Also I really love the still shots...so different from the posed versions taken on the day...so natural and lovely. Well done, a truly fantastic job. More...

It is something I will always treasure and I absolutely recommend 5 stars" First time I heard about you do the shoot diy wedding videos when I was at my cousins wedding and noticed the grooms men sharing a video camera and the brides maids also doing the same. I asked what the story was and they told me about you do the shoot. They provide all the equipment, couriered to you a few days before the wedding and picked after. They also give you tutorials on what’s the best things to film. It was really great because you didn’t feel self conscious when they filmed you. Everyone was messing around in front of the cameras and telling stories and leaving messages and I thought what a brill idea and I want it for my wedding. I even had a go at filming myself and it was really easy because the cameras they supply are so good and easy to use. I contacted them and asked if they could send the cameras to Wales as they were London based and the said no problem, they arrived and we filmed the entire wedding day and the day leading up to it. The finished results were amazing. I think the best part for me when I watched it, was seeing all the stuff I missed. Like when John was waiting at the church for me, and all the congratulations people sent us and how much fun everyone had. It is something I will always treasure and I absolutely recommend. More...

DIY wedding videos are so COOOOOOOL!! That sums it up for me. Having your friends and family make something for you that you'll treasure for the rest of your life is priceless. There are other options of course, but really when you get down to it there is no comparison. I don't really want a stranger hanging out with us while we are getting ready. On the other hand having my sister film us was a total laugh. Also we both had a camera so we both got to see what the other person was doing during this time. How much would this normally cost?...well, we had two camera men at different locations and throughout the day my friends went and filmed in places no camera man would dare to go. Meaning I got a chance to see what everyone was doing and saying while I was busy getting married. It was fantastic!! The best video ever. I would say if you don't do it yourself or at least combine it with a cameraman you're mad. Oh and the cost is so reasonable compared to what the "traditional" wedding video would cost. We ended up with something that is priceless. When we shared it with friends who couldn't make it they said it was like they were actually there. We used You Do The Shoot for our wedding this year and couldnt be happier with the DVDs. The process from start to finish was so easy and so well organised, we had nothing to worry about. The cameras were easy for anyone to use and there was plenty of battery life for the whole day. Sending the cameras back was also simple and easy to do! We wanted to have a video memory from our wedding, especially since a lot of my friends couldn't make it from Canada. We liked the idea of being able to shoot our own footage before and after the wedding, but also wanted to have a professional there to capture the ceremony and speeches. We were not disappointed! We had toyed with the idea of filming our wedding ourselves and then also thought about giving it a go at doing the editing ourselves - but we're very glad we didn't. Ben did a fantastic job at pulling together all the best parts and turning it into something very heart-warming, funny and professional-looking. Some of the clever touches he put into the editing really captured the happy, romantic and sometimes hilarious mood of the day. Overall, very happy with the results - communication was easy throughout and Ben had pulled out all stops to get the cameras delivered to us when we had a problem with the courier. After-service care has also been excellent.The quality and presentation of the DVDs were very good. Chapters were split according to the timetable of the day (speeches, ceremony etc) which made navigation easy. Sound quality was also very good - the soundtrack was a great contribution to the video but was also unobtrusive.Given the growing number of people who now own Blu-ray players, I'm not sure if Ben is able to (or currently does) produce BD versions using the cameras' HD video. However because we were also provided with a full HD footage separately, this can be done at home with the right equipment.Thoroughly recommended ! More...

We rented 2 cameras with 1 camera light from You Do the Shoot for our Wedding in December and they sent us 2 cameras, 1 camera light, 2 tripods, 6 batteries, and very detailed instructions on how best to use the cameras and get the perfect video for our day. The cameras were great, we only needed 3 batteries for the whole day and we got hours of footage which You Do the Shoot provided to us.We also paid for YDTS to edit the footage to a 'best bits' video. The finished product was outstanding and will be treasured forever! We were provided with 6 copies of this on DVD, a couple which didn't work properly so YDTS sent us another 4 extra.The sound of the speeches and ceremony wasn't great on the raw footage but YDTS worked their magic and managed to make the speeches and ceremony clear - so we can watch this over and over as many times as we want.Would definitely use YDTS again (unlikely I'll have to!) and recommend them to all my friends.
