Viniyoga is the application and adaptation of traditional Indian yoga practices to each individual practitioner or student. Viniyoga adapts the various means and methods of practice to the unique condition, needs and interests of each individual, thus giving each student the tools to individualise and actualise the process of self-discovery and personal transformation.
The approach is inherently gentle, following the needs of each student, combining and coordinating physical poses (asana) with the breath (pranayama), and including mindfulness practice.
Particularly suited to students who wish to develop a personal and lifelong yoga practice, the approach is nonetheless suitable for all. The teacher focuses on developing a tailored, individual practice for each student which meets their individual needs and accommodates their physical capabilities.
This also makes Viniyoga the most suitable form of yoga practice for anyone with physical difficulties or illness, as its individual focus is inherently therapeutic.
