John is a very professional and lovely photographer. My siblings and I booked John as a surprise videographer for my mother's wedding on the 18th of July. He was very professional and co-operative with the existing photographer, and captured all the best moments of the day. He sent over the images and video promptly, edited to a high degree of quality.

We all loved the experience of watching the day over again, catching moments that we missed in the blur of the day.

John is lovely and very understanding of what I pictured in my heads. In the planning stages he was happy to email and speak over the phone to make plans for the day.

He went above and beyond with meeting me prior to the proposal to set me up with a mic for the video.

Upon arrival at Rydale, he was able to find the location I chosen and set up with out my now fiancé noticing!

The video is lovely and will be cherished forever. John took an abundant amount of images which gives us plenty of choice when picking out favourites.

If you are considering having a photographer to capture the special moment of a proposal, in the Lake District or surrounding areas; you can’t go wrong with JM photography.

My daughter got married at The Rhynd, St. Andrews and we sought the services of JM Photography & Video as our videographer for their wedding. We were pleased with the price we paid, very competitive. Our videographer, John arrived early and liaised with the photographer. They worked great as a team. John spent the whole day from wedding preparation to the first dance. We received our copy of the video footage approx. 2 weeks after the wedding and we were very pleased with the coverage. John put together a highlight video to music that captured the perfect mood of the day. We also received the full day's events involving all our guests and some best wishes. Had John at my daughter's wedding and he done a great job

Had such a great experience with John, very quick replies to all email enquiries. Felt so comfortable on the day, barely noticed he was there during the ceremony and done a great job of making sure all the important photos got done on the day. Got our online photos within 2 weeks and then once we had decided on all the photos we wanted for the photo album it was only another 2/3 weeks before we recieved it.

i would highly recommend John for all your photography needs for your big day.From the first email to the day of the wedding he kept in touch with his advice on timings and turned up in plenty off time.
he helped us relax during the photos and had lots of good ideas as to where to get the perfect shots.

Chris and I had a just the two of us wedding at Storrs Hall in Windermere. We wanted a photographer who would give us some relaxed photos that we could treasure following our ceremony. I found it difficult to find a photographer in that area that would do a small wedding for only a couple of of hours. Other photographers either didn’t respond or only wanted the bigger weddings until we can across John on BARK. I made an enquiry and John returned my call on the same day and talked me through the process. I was left feeling positive that I found someone who would fulfill our requirements and you didn’t have to pay a deposit. John didn’t disappoint on the day, we got our relaxed photo session without being formal and a video included. JM Photography covered our wedding day.
We had many worries on the day due to timings and weather our photographs wouldn't turn out so well.
However when we received our photos and video of our day we were very happy with what John had managed to do for us.
We have an A3 album with which we are very happy with and choose a few photos for framing purposes which are of excellent quality.

We booked JM Photography & Video for our wedding last year. John arrived on time and was extremely professional throughout. He made the day easy for us. We didn't have to worry about a thing regarding the photos.

The pictures he took were absolutely fantastic. He knew exactly what he wanted and how we should pose. Both of us were very impressed. We had some laughs as well!

John was Fantastic from the first email the communication and professionalism was excellent despite many date changes due to covid John was always keen to accommodate any new dates and was really efficient and pro active and reassuring.

JM photography were horrendous. We regret hiring them for our wedding on the 21st of August 2021.

The photographer was very late. I arrived in the wedding car to be greeted with a message that the photographer had not arrived. A search was already ongoing for him despite promises that he would arrive 45 minutes early to take photographs of the guests and wedding party arriving.

He did not apologise and barely said hello before setting himself up at the end of the aisle. He did not once give any reason during the day for his lateness.

When we later complained we were informed this was due to traffic. We understand in sometimes instances lateness is unavoidable. However a phone call or text message to avoid stress and worry on what is an extremely important day would have been sufficient.

The lateness was an added injury as I had asked the photographer to come earlier to my photograph myself and family at my childhood home. He stated this was pointless due to time (unsure why as I would have been willing to pay extra). He later offered to do a reshoot after the wedding at my parents home (I presume for extra money).

We received our photographs in a timely manner. They are a nice catalogue of the events during the day. However many of the photographs are missing parts of peoples heads/shoulders and slightly unfocused. Some have fingerprints over parts of the photograph. We found there was no full photographs of myself and new husband (many of our head and shoulders).

We were informed this was due the limited space in the garden of the venue. This is a ridiculous statement as if the photographer had taken a step back and organised himself better (or moved a chair and table). He would have been able to fit us in a full photograph. There were other areas of the venue which would have covered this. We have photographs taken by friends and family on phones who have managed to this without chopping of parts of heads and shoulders.

We were offered an album (supposedly worth £200) in compensation for the services received. They stated this would be finished within six weeks. It has been over eight weeks since our last contact from JM Photography. Despite three separate emails I have yet to receive the album or a reply.

We spent over three hours choosing photographs (as many that we could find with whole people in them) and putting them in order. We can only presume we will not be receiving the album.

To state that the service received by JM Photography is a disappointment is a total understatement. We would not recommend them, they were late, can not take proper photographs, do not follow up on their promises (despite this being offered as compensation for poor services) and difficult to contact.

We did not expect a bespoke service, we were aware they are a budget photographer. However we did expect nice photographs and a bit more careful positioning. We also expected better customer service (and arriving on time for the event they were hired to photograph). We genuinely would have been better off getting photographs taken by our friends on the day, at least we would have been spared the stress and saved the money. More...

I am saddened to read Karen’s review. 76 x 5 star reviews on our service have been given on BARK, one unsatisfactory review has been given by Karen, and therefore difficult to comprehend that what is written is a reflection of our service. Karen is correct to say that her free album has not yet arrived but is still in process. Delay is due to the exceptional demand this summer; last minute bookings and rescheduled weddings added to our normal bookings (Karen’s wedding also had to be rescheduled twice with all three dates held without deposit.) Sending all photos and video to all clients within 2 weeks is always prioritised - albums, regrettably, take longer for delivery. No communication from Karen has gone unanswered and Karen’s free album will be sent in time for Christmas. Karen originally wrote me on 3/09/21 “Thank you for the photographs and videos, we really loved and enjoyed looking through them”. Concerns of Karen raised on 3/09/21 were immediately addressed. Further concerns now raised in Karen’s review “missing parts of peoples heads/shoulders & slightly unfocused & some have fingerprints over parts of the photograph” are not my view of the photos. How do you put a fingerprint on a digital photo? Photographer’s time of arrival was due to serious motorway & by pass congestion but he still arrived before the Ceremony, just as stressed as was Karen, both understandably, and immediately got to work setting up the video equipment then photographing Karen and attendants before their entry to Ceremony. Photographer was in attendance for over 6 hours, 460 photos were given to the client, together with high quality films of the wedding ceremony, speeches & first dances. Explanation & apologies were made to Karen for the Photographer arriving later than expected when she raised this matter in September and please be assured, Karen, that your free album will be forthcoming.

The minute my future wife and I met John, he put us at ease. Very professional the photos of our wedding were superb/ fantastic. John was very friendly and his professionalism shown through, he kept us right for the 2 and half hours we had him, nothing was too much trouble and I would not hesitate in recommending JM photography to anyone FANTASTIC More...

John was absolutely brilliant and saved the day for us! John travelled all the way down to the Lake District on the same day I contacted him as I had just been let down last minute by the previous photographer I had booked and was to be proposing to my partner that day.

John went above and beyond expectations and as well as taking a variety of beautiful shots of the proposal as well as spending time with us afterwards to capture more photos. John followed us throughout our visit at the Lake District without my partner noticing and was able to take a great set of photos. The photos John took were incredible and he has a great eye for detail. I was also given a microphone before hand and John followed us so that the whole proposal was caught on video. I was blown away by the shots that John had captured and I couldn't recommend him more. John is a great guy and was extremely friendly and down to earth, he has a true talent and passion for photography and I highly recommend him to anyone seeking a photographer.
