I took up WSK @14 years old. I have dabbled with several other styles, fighting systems and philosophies. Fast forwards several decades and I still have good grounds to regularly reflect and refer to back to techniques that I learned as a youth. I can honestly say that WSK was the foundation gateway for my journey in acquiring a capacity to learn about martial arts. More...

Many styles of martial arts now are either "form" (beauty, grace, and tradition) OR "function" (practical application for self defence), Wu Shu Kwan is the perfect combination of both!

I started Wu Shu Kwan at the age of 12. I ate, breathed and slept Wu Shu Kwan from my very first lesson. 38 years on and my love of it has never changed. I have met some of my very best friends in Wu Shu Kwan and I would not be who I am today and not achieved what I have without it! More...

I used to train under Peter Maxwell in Guildford in the early 90's. Unfortunately work took over and I stopped training. I have recently started again, this time with my son, and the club remains as friendly as it used to be, with the same level of great instruction which has meant that whilst I can't bend like I used to and I'm hanging by the end of the class I have slotted back into the routine and it's becoming (slightly) easier week. Great to be back. More...

Started Wu Shu Kwan at the age of 19, now 42 and still training, it's one of the best things I've done in my life, I married my instructor Jake Fitzpatrick and had two beautiful children, Jade who is 16 has achieved Black Belt, James our son is also training. As an instructor it is great to see people progress, as a student I love to train hard. I never felt the need to try another system as WSK is the complete package. The first step into class is the hardest, from then on you'll make friends and be guided by good instruction, so take that first step :-) More...

I started training in London in 1970 after a tour in the Vietnam War. As it turned out, this was a life changing experience for me and I took somewhere around 9 gradings. C.K. Chang was an extraordinary pioneer in Martial Arts. We used to train at Swiss Cottage and then all go to China Town for dinner. Thanks to the amazing skills I was taught I got the black belt in 1972 and now live in Minnesota, U.S.A. I was lucky enough to get back to London one time to see Trish and C.K. and they served Peking Duck. Sure hope to visit again! More...

Hmmmmmm let's see, I'm 41 this year. I started when I was 15 but I have been in martial arts since I was13. I grew up with my father who was also in martial arts when he was younger, some people will say that fighting is in our blood. I will keep it simple. I love to fight but that is for a next time. I enjoy training but I don't get to fight as much. I'm a ( Third Degree ) now and still loving it so I will give us 5 stars and that is not being bias. More...

I started my training with Wu Shu Kwan in 1981.
I took my very 1st grading on 13th October 1981.
My journey has been a long one.
The person that got me into WSK in the first place is Bilgin Oz. Where is he now.
At the age of 18, I used to work in a shop store where Bilgin was the shop manager.
One morning before the shop opened, I was practicing some moves on the shop floor just in front of the managers one way window. UN-be-known to me Bilgin was watching me from the office.
Later he came and asked me if I was training with anyone. I said NO.
He invited me to come and train at his class.
To cut a long story short, Bilgin later introduced me to another instructor called Cecil. Again, Where is he now.
Anyway.. I eventually took my Black belt grading on 29th August 1993 and shortly after began teaching as an Instructor.
I am still here, many years later. And still enjoying the training..

I started training in 1986 in Guildford with Peter Maxwell. I was hooked from the first lesson. It gave me patience, drive, kept me fit and helped focus my mind on my business and life goals, not to mention the martial art skills. In 1989 I took my 1st degree black belt. I was privileged to be able to share some of the skills learned at my class in Horsham, Sussex for 15 years and I went on to achieve 5th degree in 2005. The life benefits that my training and association with Wu Kwan Kwan gave me cannot be quantified & my sincere thanks are extended to all that helped me on this journey. Now living in Perth, Western Australia, I have fond memories of Wednesday night classes at Imperial College. Great to see the WSK profile now on Facebook. More...
