Had a lovely couple of days over Christmas at Woughton House; the food was great especially the Christmas lunch - loved the Dark Chocolate and Orange Ganache for desert. The staff really made the stay and dining experience fantastic. All staff were friendly and welcoming; the two french waitresses and Antonio the matradee stood out; they constantly made sure we were comfortable and chatted to us in french/Spanish and English. Really added some character to our evenings out. Thank you for a lovely couple of days and making our Christmas so enjoyable. More...

AMAZING scones! The only slight let down for me was that the table cloths were dirty, were not stains as I could feel the dirt sticking up slightly. I stayed for one night and had dinner in the restaurant. The decor in the hotel was blend of contemporary and classic, and there were nice touches like books and games avaialable for guests- which was useful as I'd forgotten to bring a novel with me. The room was spacious and immaculately clean, with robe and slippers provided and toiletries in the bathroom. The bed was comfy and there was a fridge in the room. We visited in October at the start of a WWII history trip in England and France. We arrived at about 1:30 pm after an overnight flight to Heathrow, and were very pleased that our room was ready. The very helpful reception staff directed us to a historic pub in easy walking distance for a late lunch. The room and bathroom were very nice, and very quiet, with a lovely king sized bed, which you don't often find in England. The window treatments ensured complete darkness at night. We appreciated the terry robe and slippers, always a nice touch. We had dinner in the hotel's restaurant, which was quite good, and the breakfast buffet was sumptuous. The only somewhat negative thing was the hairdryer situation. There was no plug for the hairdryer in the bathroom, and when plugged in in the bedroom, the coiled cord was so stiff, that I could barely get the hairdryer to my head. In addition, you could not just turn the hairdryer on, you had to hold down the power button at all time. If you have any arthritis at all in your hands, this is not easy to do. Overall, however, we would go back in a heartbeat, and ask them for another hairdryer! More...

We stayed at Woughton House for 2 nights on a 'Virgin package (+Bletchey Park)' and had a comfortable stay. The hotel is in a rural location within the metropolis which is Milton Keynes and could be described as boutique style with 50 rooms. On arrival there was ample free parking and we were checked in quickly by the friendly member of staff. Our room (203), was on the 1st floor in a newer section of the main building. The room itself was pleasantly decorated with a king size bed, equipped with a desk, tea/coffee, flat screen TV, mini-bar (not filled), air con, safe, small wardrobe, large en-suite with bath/shower. The room was fine and the bed particularly very comfortable but a gripe in the modern era, why don't they have plug sockets on the same wall as the bed, we don't all have 5 m charging cables! The free wifi could be accessed through the web browser but unless your out of data I'd stick with 4g. The room was nice and quiet and allowed for a good night sleep. We stayed on a 1 dinner and breakfast basis, the food of a good standard but dinner at £35 for 3 courses is a little steep. Breakfast was very good, plenty of fresh juices and a wide choice of cooked items as well as cereal etc. The dining/breakfast area is a touch small but I understand it's being expanded. There is a small bar area, not used. The hotel is decorated throughout in a boutique style, lots of pictures, books etc which helps to break up what is probably a fairly bland interior otherwise. That said, this is a pleasant hotel with friendly staff but I'm not sure if it warrants a 4* grading, my gut feeling is that it's more of an event hotel but that shouldn't put anyone off from staying.
