About

I have opened a tuition company from my summer house at the bottom of my garden in Oxenhope. Here, I tutor students in groups of up to 5. I run sessions for GCSE, general literacy for Key Stage 2 and 3, 11+ and SATs preparation.

After my son being a student at the Academy for some time, and based on how much his confidence and ability has grown I decided to enrol on the workshop too. it has been fantastic so far, the daily resource is never late, is varied and the feedback from Michelle most welcome. Both the Academy and Workshop are brilliant and I'd recommend anyone looking for help in a young person's education to look no further. Michelle gets the best out of my son! More...

After working very closely with Michelle, I can say that she is a very dynamic and enthusiastic teacher. She had great relationships with the children and has a very warm, caring nature.

Q&As

I love building relationships with the students that I teach. I am a massive literature buff and so love discussing books and using texts as a way into making literacy fun.

I wanted to work for the best of the students; sometimes this is not possible when teaching so many pupils at secondary school. I also want to spend more time with my family!

I am completely dedicated to the learning of the students at Word Academy. I have great subject knowledge and knowledge of the curriculum and the grouped teaching really helps to keep sessions engaging. For students that are struggling with their literacy, I have put together a strategy to help students. See https://www.wordacademyoxenhope.com/blog/literacy-mantra.
