We had an appointment with Woof Dog Training on Friday. It's really making a difference. The whole family was able to take part and our dog gets to enjoy a new game whilst being trained to sit on the stairs when someone knocks at the door. It's totally working. It's given us all new confidence. Thanks Hannah at Woof Dog Training. We are looking forward to your support and experience. You have made a difference in just 60 minutes. More...

I could not recommend anyone more highly! I have struggled finding someone to look after my two dogs when planning holidays, weekends away or when last minute arrangements come up, especially having a shepherd who is reactive to new people and dogs. Hannah is amazing and one of the few people I can implicitly trust to care for them. Mya and Delta adore her, even after having gone away on holiday for two weeks they were still more excited to see Hannah come through the door than myself. They always thoroughly enjoy their time in her care and are treated like her own. I couldn't ask for a more trustworthy and wonderful person, who also has the knowledge and experience required to look after them and especially manage my shepherd xxx More...

Hannah looked after our dog Darlow recently while we were on holiday. Darlow is noise sensitive which means he is unable to be walked at the minute due to his anxieties. Hannah visited us 3 times before our holiday to get used to all the methods/games/toys etc we use to get him to go out into the garden and also for him to get used to her. Everyday while we were away we had a full updates, pictures & videos of each visit which put our minds at rest knowing he was being looked after so well. We couldn't recommend Hannah highly enough, she had such a kind way with Darlow and understood his anxieties More...

My sister had got me in touch with Hannah. Our dog maddie has a high hunt instinct and dislikes other animals. We are working with Hannah to get maddie to be tolerant of other animals and to teach maddie some manners.

The work and support Hannah has given so far has been the best and we cannot recommend Hannah high enough.

Q&As

I love nothing more than to see the relationship between an owner and their dog develop through training. Whether it is a training problem (for example, your dog not coming back when you call him), or just that you would like to do more with your dog, I enjoy working with owners to help their dog using positive, reward based training. My training focuses on giving your dog choices, and guiding him to make choices that are compatible with your lifestyle and expectations. My hope is that through working together, you and your dog are able to live harmoniously and happily.

When I was suddenly faced with having to find someone to look after my dogs when I couldn’t get back from work to visit them at lunch times, I was stuck. How on earth do people choose someone that they trust enough to walk their dog?! I was looking for someone who was qualified, experienced and professional, and who was prepared to spend time building a positive relationship with my dogs, especially as one of my dogs is extremely worried by new people.  I realised there was a gap in the market, and so with some encouragement from friends and family, I founded Woof! – to provide a professional, yet tailor made, service to dogs (and their owners) across Lincolnshire.

I have over 10 years training experience, working with a variety of dogs in various contexts. Having gained First Class Honours in Animal Behaviour Science, my practical experience is supported by current theoretical knowledge. I am actively involved in canine research and am committed to remaining up to date with new training methods and research - I regularly attend conferences and workshops on all aspects of dog behaviour and welfare.

I will work with you and your dog as the individuals that you are, offering tailor made plans and services to suit your needs. My methods are kind and effective, and I love working with both the owner and their dog to achieve a happy and harmonious relationship!

Services

My classes aim to give your puppy the best start in life using reward based training and fun activities. Throughout the course we cover basic obedience, life skills, including developing confidence and self control, and providing appropriate and positive socialisation – in a safe, indoor environment.

During the first week (when you attend without your puppy) we will discuss canine body language, how dogs learn, and an introduction to training. This week is an opportunity to get to know each other, without having to worry about your puppy, and allows us to discuss your individual requirements for the course. Whilst I teach to a general syllabus, I understand that everyone’s lives, and expectations of their dog, are different – and I aim to accommodate this wherever possible.

Over the 6 weeks with your puppy, we will cover basic obedience (including sit, down, coming back when called), life skills (including building confidence, self control and manners), and appropriate socialisation. Through use of positive, reward based training I will coach you how to train and support your puppy to become a confident, well mannered and happy adult dog.

I welcome the whole family, including children, to classes – I just ask that any children under 16 are supervised by an adult at all times. I place an emphasis on teaching you, your family and your dog to understand each other, in order to have a happy and harmonious relationship.

Research has shown that the behavioural benefits of attending good training classes early outweigh the potential health risks of attending after only the first vaccination, which is why we welcome puppies from 8 weeks of age who have had their first vaccination at least 7 days prior to the first class that puppies attend (week 2). Our classes are for puppies aged between 8-20 weeks on the first week of class. If your puppy is older than 20 weeks, please contact me to discuss other options regarding training.

Group classes aren’t for everyone, and my One to One training sessions offer the perfect solution to help you and your dog learn at your own pace, and without having to attend a group session. One to one sessions can be arranged at your own home or at a secure outdoor venue – the location will depend on the nature of the training session and your goals! The sessions are very flexible, and can be tailored to your specific requirements and needs. They are an ideal way to work through problems including (but not exclusive to):
·    House training problems
·    Recall problems
·    Loose lead walking
·    Jumping up and greeting inappropriately
·    Inappropriate chewing
·    General basic obedience
One to One training sessions last an hour, and are offered as one off training sessions (£35), as a block of 3 (£85), or as a block of 5 (£120).

These classes are suitable for dogs over 5 months old who haven’t previously attended training classes – and are designed to help you and your dog gain the most from your relationship using reward based training and fun activities. Throughout the course we cover basic obedience, life skills and manners, as well as tackling any problems you may be having – in a safe, indoor environment. We will also introduce some trick training and scent work if suitable.

Here at Woof! I know that it isn’t always possible to walk your dog as much as you would like, and my dog walking service aims to help with this.
I walk dogs on an individual basis to enable me to give your dog my undivided attention – although I am happy to walk dogs from the same household together, providing they get on well. During any walk, I will interact and train your dog throughout the walk, as well as actively encouraging him to be a dog,  through the use of nose-work, free running (if appropriate) and whatever else your dog enjoys (although I try to keep rolling in fox poo to a minimum!). I am happy to spend time working on any aspects of training or behaviour modification that you are currently engaged in, and will work to any other specific requests. For example, if you don’t want your dog to meet other dogs, I will work hard to ensure this doesn’t happen.

Walks are either 30 or 60 minutes long, and will be on routes around your home, unless we arrange otherwise. Longer or shorter walks can also be arranged at your request.

I use a long line to enable dogs who are not allowed off lead to enjoy time free-running. To start with, all walks will be on lead/on a long line until I have assessed your dog’s recall and behaviour, and your dog has got to know me. I will then discuss building off lead work into our walks if appropriate, and with prior agreement from yourself.

At Woof! I appreciate that sometimes you don’t want a dog walker, but more a dog visitor, which is why I offer home visits. Just like the walks, my home visits are tailored to meet the needs of your individual dog. During every visit, I will ensure your dog has the chance to toilet outside as well as enjoying plenty of mental and physical stimulation, which is age and health appropriate.
Home visits are an ideal solution for older dogs, younger puppies, dogs on restricted exercise, and those who find the world outside the garden a little overwhelming. However, this doesn’t mean that I just visit your home, let your dog out to the toilet and cuddle them until I leave – with every home visit comes the chance for your dog to learn something new or practise something you are working on! During the initial free consultation, a home visit plan will be drawn up – in which we will work together to outline any do’s and don’ts with regards to your dog’s behaviour – as well as prioritising any training requirements to ensure consistency is maintained during visits.
I provide an assortment of mental and physical enrichment during all home visits. This may include (but is not limited to):
·    Scent work games
·    Mini agility (I bring my own equipment, so space permitting we can have some fun in the garden!)
·    Brain games – training your dog a new party trick or behaviour, for example to play dead on command
·    Puzzle toys – I will bring an assortment of puzzle toys to ensure your dog has to work super hard for some tasty treats (all toys will be disinfected between different dogs using them)
·    General obedience – I can spend time working on any obedience that you might want us to
Home visits are either 30, 60 or 120 minutes long, to break up your dog’s day. Longer, or multiple visits, can be arranged at your request. Home visits can include feeding your dog their middle meal of the day and giving any medication.
