Crazy homecoming Sunday brunch, service was on point and the food awesome as always. Open face salmon my favorite, next time would pay extra for a soft poached egg on top

Wait staff is amazing. Food is good. Seating is very tight making the ambient noises and neighbouring conversations quite loud. All in all... we recommend it!

I have been enjoying Windmill Breakfasts since 1976. I watched the business transform itself from a room full of assorted chrome kitchen chairs and tables to a tastefully appointed restaurant featuring local artists. Excellence in food and staff keep people coming over decades. More...

Great food. Enjoyed the Knowledgable about GF. Even had good GF bread to replace the toast. Kitchen made a small mistake but it was quickly rectified.

My husband and I, absolutely, love Windmills! Their staff are warm, and the service is excellent! You can tell, by their long term staff, they are happy there, and I do believe it is due to the wonderful management.
The food is to die for. (amazing chef and sous chefs). Soups are wonderful, (my favourites are the vegetable and fruit combinations); with the variety of entrees, you will assuredly find something that you will enjoy. Desserts cover all tastes (my favourite is the Blueberry Napoleon. Meringue, blueberries, lemon and graham wafer crumbs. Yum!)
If you would like a restaurant that is small, warm and is owned locally, I highly recommend Windmills!

After an extremely frustrating time trying to find a "quick" gluten free snack, we walked up Princess Street to Windmills to discover they could not only offer me a sandwich I would soon enjoy, but many many gfree options!
We were welcomed by Nicole who made us feel like she had just given us a big warm hug after the difficulties we were experiencing finding gfree to go options in DT Kingston. She had no idea but gave us incredible customer service with a smile, brought us water while we waited for our order and educated us about gluten free, dairy free and vegan options available for dinner too!
Thank you so much for your hospitality, Nicole, and we will surely be back to you guys... without a doubt.

They describe themselves as casual fine dining. I think that is a good description. You can order pizza and pasta, or things like veal, lamb, or striploin.
I really enjoyed the lamb.
Mussels and salads were good. Their bread and butter taste great. It would be better if warm.
Their wine selection could be better.
It was strange they wouldn't accommodate a request. Their chef's special was snapper and was served with vegetables. We wanted rice or potatoes.
Their dessert selection could be better. Their merringue was good.
Service was really friendly. They were a little understaffed. Our server was taking care of tables both inside and outside.
Overall, I would recommend this place.

My wife and I had googled this place before coming had really decent reviews. We were headed in from Ottawa to see barenaked ladies. When we got there to our dismay they were booked. We had no idea it was queens homecoming. So the owner I assumed was very apologetic and offered us seats at the bar. Then as we sat at the bar she informed us she had a cozy table for 2. The staff was excellent. Started us off with homemade bread and homemade whipped butter with caramelized onions and herbs. We ordered the NY strip and veal malanaise. Food came out quickly surprising since it was a packed house. The food was amazing. The glace on the steak was out of this world. The veal was succulent. The carrots were sweet and firm. Would give 10 out of 10 all around and Will def come again next time I'm in kingston. Thanks for making our moment of panic in finding a different place to eat such a delicious suprise More...

I ordered the Pad Thai. I am a bit of a finicky eater and was a little hesitant but went with it. I am so happy I did. I ate more than usual because it was really tasty and I wanted to keep eating.
I love when the food is SO good that I actually want to eat. It was delicious.
The bread is so amazing, as well. It's fresh, thick, warm and chewy bread that is so well seasoned. (&whipped butter).
For dessert we ordered a meringue lemon custard with-blueberries and a crispy crumble at the bottom. Simply delicious.
I very much enjoyed our dinner and the server (my apologies, but I don't recall her name) was an amazing lady. She was so friendly and helpful (even suggesting a side of sriracha sauce with my dinner). A true customer service professional. Well done!! Thank you.
You should definitely try this place. It's really a great experience.
I will definitely be returning.

The food here is pretty good at reasonable prices. I had the avocado BLT which was tasty:) the ambiance was nice, on the trendy side and cozy with lovely photography on the walls. The service was friendly and welcoming. It's a bit cold/drafty if you sit towards the front of the restaurant due to the entrance but otherwise a pretty sweet spot. More...

I organized a surprise party for a friend who was leaving and was expecting a large group of people, which is hard when organizing it at a public place. Not the case with Windmills; they were awesome! They were kind enough to arrange the tables in such a way that our group of 15 were all able to talk to each other, and they even accommodated us outside of their regular dinner hours. Staff were super attentive and friendly, they made sure everyone was happy - we all received our meals at the same and they were hot and delicious! Thank you so much for the great service, you really went above and beyond! More...
