The instructors here are friendly, talented and enthusiastic. They've made it fun for my kids to learn piano and drums, and the recitals they hold at local music venues are a blast. Highly recommended.

My 11 year old daughter looks forward to her guitar lessons every week. She had no prior experience when she first started classes. She has taken guitar lessons with both Ray and Craig who are both great teachers. She also took a couple of vocal lessons with Camille. Within a month she was able to play and sing an entire song, which she performed at the WSM summer concert. There, all the students had a chance to show off what they had learned. It was very cool. I took the adult group guitar class that meets once a week for two months.  It was a great way to gain the foundation in guitar I was seeking without having to spend so much on privates, and the group was really fun.

I took piano lessons from Camille for a little over a month after not playing in years and really having to start over.  She was great! Got me playing right away, so much faster than I expected and also worked in a lot of music theory, which was important to me.  I'll be back the minute I have time!  I also referred my husband who has taken both guitar and drum lessons there with different instructors and has had a great experience each time.  Their staff are clearly professionals who know their craft and care about teaching. I'm an adult learner and  I love taking lessons at the WSM.  I'm learning piano, I had never played it before.  But now after a few months of lessons I'm able to start jamming with other friends already.  I would highly recommend the school to anybody who's always wanted to play an instrument and never really had the time or the energy to learn it, and now may think it's too late. It hasn't been easy finding activities to captivate my energetic child however Craig proved to be a patient and incredibly talented teacher. My son loved his drum lessons and was excited to go back week after week! I appreciated Craig's ability to accommodate my sons short attention spam and get him to focus week after week. I highly recommend Williamsburg School of Music! More...

My teenage son loves this school. I'm so proud of the progress that he's made. His instructor (Dodi) is just great.  There were children of all ages here. This school has very good energy.

I am about as musically inclined as a can of tuna fish. I sought out the WIlliamsburg School of Music to help fix that.I was getting married in a few months, and my now-wife, who is a former singer and musical theater performer, had the idea to put together a small concert of our friends the night before the wedding. We needed a place to practice, and spoke to Craig at the Williamsburg School of Music to see if he could help. He did a lot more than help.First off, we were able to arrange to use his space for rehearsals. The place was spotless, and all of the equipment was new and (as far as I could tell) very top notch. The soundproofing is solid and I couldn't hear a thing from other rooms (I know this because while the talented people practiced, I walked around and/or ordered pizza.)I would have been completely satisfied with all of the above, except for the fact that we didn't have a drummer for the performance itself. Craig actually offered to join us! He learned 9 songs over the course of a few weeks, and literally ended up performing at our wedding concert. He was the consummate professional and our friends loved working with him.I couldn't have had a better overall experience. It doesn't hurt that it's in a really fun neighborhood with lots of food/drink options. When the missus and I start having baby Yelpers, I will definitely send them to WSM for lessons. More...

I took music lessons for many, many years growing up. My final music teacher (we worked together for at least 5+ years) was a professional musician/composer. Sometimes we had to reschedule lessons because of her concerts, gigs, etc. My family and I completely understood. This was how she made her living and we felt lucky to have the opportunity to take lessons from a musician of her caliber.Sometimes teachers have to reschedule, it happens. As long as it's done politely, I can completely understand. The rare times that my daughter's lesson had to be rescheduled here, it was done with advance notice and with an apology :) This music school is awesome. I too began after purchasing a Groupon. My kid (who was a slight bit hesitant about music lessons at first) loves taking lessons. Everyone is warm and friendly (not an easy thing to find in Williamsburg anymore!!!). Lessons are fun and engaging and the techniques used for beginners appear to be pretty effective. My daughter is "catching on" waaayy faster than I expected her to. I see a lot of adults taking lessons too, so I'm sure the methods used for teaching adults are great as well. I was bummed when my Groupon was coming to a close (totally scared I wouldn't be able to afford lessons) but... it's actually affordable for us!!! I had searched for lessons in the past at a few other locations throughout Brooklyn and saw insane tuition prices that I know we'd   never be able to afford. Very happy to have discovered this place!!! More...
