My family and I have purchased over 15 cakes, cupcakes and custom cookies from Whimsy Cakes over the years. My expectations for customer service have always been met with each encounter. The level of detail no matter the item or the Sweet smile upon arrival are just what a paying customer needs. The anticipation of your approval is what gets me every time the level of humility exhibited is honorable. I live about an hour away with many bakeries and bakers in close proximity, but none that quite top Taneka, the Owner that keeps me coming back. For my youngest daughters first birthday she made me 12 cakes which were all elaborate and did not complain. Okay we’ve ordered about 30 cakes to be honest, but what’s a true celebration without a Whimsy cake present. Have you ordered one? What are you waiting for. She makes all kinds of delictable goodies. I wanted to thank Taneka publicly. Last Friday, at 3:30pm, I called to ask for cupcakes for my son's party. I went to whimsy last Friday and I been chasing this place for a couple of days cause they haven't been open. Man I tell you when I order my cupcakes and they had a deal on the cupcakes which I should've put in a order for a dozen but no me thinking I'm not going to waste my money if they don't taste good. My wife and I ordered a "simple" personal cake for my son's birthday....well upon arrival to pick up the cake the owner told me she just couldnt do "simple" so we took home this amazing award winning cake and even though it was my son's cake we all decided to help him eat it...lol

They are family oreianted on my son's birthday he had to stay in the hospital for almost a week the day of his birthday I received a call from Tamika who was very professional and also concerned about my son on 1/26/19 I was finally able to get the vegan Spiderman pull apart cupcakes they were creative and delious my 3 yr old who's party it was loved them so much everyone who walked in he was so excited to show them I would recommend Whimsy Cakes over and over again thanks so much for your business and concern for my family and son love you Tamika♥️ ☺️

I placed my order on the site and then sent an email to confirm that my order was scheduled. I received a call a day or so later and my order was confirmed by the owner who appeared to be professional yet personable. My order of a dozen regular cupcakes was placed and my expired groupon was honored. I received an immediate receipt with my outstanding balance.On the date of pick up , my order was not ready but she quickly filled my order and to my surprise went above and beyond what I ordered. I would recommend Whimsy Cakes' to anyone. I have gone there in the past but recently used them for a party. Every interaction was professional and tailored to our needs from the consultation to delivery. Taneka, artist and owner, was the only person I interacted with. She did not ever make us feel rushed during our consultation. I told her the theme and she created a cake, that had a moving feature to it and custom cupcakes. Not only was the cake, marble cake, beautiful it was delicious. The cupcakes were just as great. And lastly, her prices were extremely affordable and she delivered/setup the cake herself. We got my grandson's bd cake from Whimsey last year and are getting another this year. It was delicious and looked terrific with the decoration and age on it. This review is just based on the cupcakes that I got at the store. Not for any of the cakes or delivery service like the other reviews. The cupcakes here are pretty good. Not the best ones I've ever had but pretty good. I got a snickerdoodle one and a strawberry crunch one. The cake part is nice and light, not too dry. The icing is sweet and soft but not too sugary like grocery store ones. I've seen the other bad reviews and the only one I can attest to is the one with the proper times of the store. I've come here twice when they were supposed to be but they just weren't.The cupcakes are about $3 each for the special ones so average price I'd say. Oh and on Thursday, they have $2 cupcakes. The only issue I have a regarding this business is finding out this business has been around for years and I'm just finding out about it! Great customer service from the beginning to the end! The reason I chose this business for a very important occasion is because I attended an event and someone from the bridal party ordered this conversation piece cake from Whimpsy. I immediately canceled my plans of using someone else and used this business instead. I'm so glad that I did.The bridal shower cake was beautiful beautiful beautiful, it was a strawberry and oreo cookie cake! Sounds different doesn't it... check out the pictures! It's just as good if not better than his picture looks below! You all would be jealous if I tell you the short term notice that I gave her the baker to make cake and she came through! I went to pick up the cake and was floored to see that the cake looked just like the picture I previously sent her if not better! And the taste, let me tell you this... this purchase was made the 1st week of April and my sister-in-law is still talking about it and we're almost in June! That's how good it is I would definitely use this Baker for very important occasions in the future. Now I must admit, you gotta pay to play! I found the experience to be overall excellent. Yes, I agree with a reviewer about the cake not being ready as stated. However, It turned out fine. I just adjusted my schedule due to a number of reasons. I also want to say even though this is business not personal, new businesses deserve a little more patience. Yes, they are in it to make money, I get it. However, resources are needed to get them where they want to be. What I found out that Taneka will offer the best customer and do her very best. The cake was awesome and it was delicious. My daughter which this post is under (don't know how that happened) loved it and it was delicious. I don't know where someone got the box cake thing from. Came to use my Groupon before it expired. The shop is located along Frederick Rd. in SW Baltimore. There is off street parking down the street where the Rite Aid is located. Upon entering the shop, there were displays of various flavors cupcakes. A pleasant lady came from the back and preceeded to assist me in my cupcake selection. I chose two each of: the strawberry shortcake with mini funnel cakes; peanut butter chocolate; snickers oodles and birthday cake flavors. I presented my Groupon and checkout was seamless.
