If you’re in the Lincoln area, this is a lovely, historical place to stay and not too far from Downtown. About a 5-10 minute drive. Staying for long-term was relaxing and convenient since two of the rooms have kitchens, and the management supplies with cooking items, snacks, etc. They also have TVs, fireplaces as well as whirlpool tubs. The owner and staff are friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating if you need additional items and/ or information. If you get a chance say hi; I learned so much talking with them. They also have a lot of materials on what to visit and see in Lincoln and the rest of Nebraska. The views are beautiful, especially if staying in Wild Rose and the Sunset Suite from where you can see the sunset. Full trees and long expanses of land right outside your window. Sometimes you hear birds in the morning; also there are cats and some bunnies around. It’s a nice break from the busy downtown. Once you leave you’ll definitely miss it: the paintings, historical artifacts and being in a well-decorated space, reminiscent of the prairie life. More...

Overall, it was a good place to stay, but at the same time, I have some mixed feelings about it. The bed & pillows were comfortable and clean, the candies, snacks, sodas, and water were greatly appreciated. We inquired about a local place to eat and were given detailed directions on how to find it. We almost needed a jump start and Angela was quick to jump in and help.||||We booked for a specific room, but it wasn't cleaned by the time we arrived (just after 7pm) so we were given a different room. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling, otherwise all was clean. The room had a window a/c unit, but it didn't work well and was aimed in the snack area vs. the bedroom, so the room stayed warmer than we would have liked it. We were told we could eat in the room, in the dining room, or outside on the patio. The patio table had not been cleaned in quite some time, so that was out of the question. We ended up eating in our room. ||||Breakfast was 20 minutes late but was absolutely delicious and filling, totally worthy of a bed & breakfast stay. The jetted tub worked great and we appreciated all the little amenities like bathrobes, extra shampoo & conditioner, body wash, lotion, etc. ||||All in all, we would go back if we were ever in the area again. This bed and breakfast was a great experience it was cozy and comfortable.|The host Jim was really nice and accommodating. Me and my boyfriend had been doing a road trip across the country and this was our last stop before home. It was one of the best places that we stayed on our whole trip. The room we stayed in was very spacious and the hot tub was amazing. We also really liked all of the paintings on the walls. The city of Lincoln was also beautiful. He served a breakfast that would rival any 5 star hideaway resort. The room had the kind of character reserved for buildings built by hands, not machines. The walls where 12 inches thick. The placed was etched in time by the paintings, furniture and tapestries left behind a time that was more coveted than what we have today. Oh my goodness. My husband and I spent 2 nights here in Prairie Nook for our anniversary. This fine establishment went beyond all expectations. Everything about the BnB is quirky and cozy-including the staff. Everyone is friendly and readily available, while still offering guests plenty of privacy. Guests can enjoy a jacuzzi soak, plenty of in-room snacks and beverages, a DVD from a 300+ collection, and a gourmet 2 course breakfast. I could go on for days about breakfast. From the time we pulled up to the time we left, it was an amazing experience! Angela met us at the door, gave us a small tour and left us to settle in. This former poor house was restored and is a great place to stay and see a part of history. The poor houses were needed and provided a place to stay for paupers. This poor house has a history and the owners have restored the place and it is a B&B located close to the highway with a country feel. It is not surrounded by houses or other development. There is adjacent farm land. Restaurants are only a short drive away. We stumbled onto this B&B and were glad to learn of its history and enjoyed talking with the owner. More...

Our, and hopefully soon to be for your host Jim has consistently not disappointed. From the ease of reservation to the ease of communication about the specifics of the stay, to the delicious gourmet in-room breakfast, to over-stocked fridge complete with ice cream in the freezer to the plethora of in-room snacks, to the jacuzzi tub to the comfy bed - oh and did I mention the breakfast? We live in Perth, Western Australia. We stayed at the Prairie Nook room which has a sitting room. The room was cozy and clean. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was immaculate and stock with everything you need on your travel. Lots of snacks and drinks available to the house guests. The breakfast was fantastic, healthy and refreshing. Better than a 5 stars hotel in our opinion. We have already recommended this place to stay to our friends for their future travel to Lincoln. One of the last true bed and breakfast place to be.
