I recently traveled to Maui with my husband, and we wanted to take some casual beach photos to remember our trip. I researched several photographers' websites, but many of their family photos seemed a little tacky. When I came across Wendy's portfolio, I was impressed by her more artistic and candid style. She uses film, which is extremely rare these days! She agreed to meet us early in the morning, and she suggested a beautiful, secluded beach nearby. It turned out to be the perfect location because we had the entire beach to ourselves.She brought a couple props for the shoot and gave us just the right amount of direction. She made us feel really comfortable, and we even forgot she was there sometimes. I am absolutely amazed at how many beautiful pictures she was able to take in just one hour! Wendy’s creative eye, style & approach to photography and the use of film are why I wanted her to shoot my wedding day. Her photos look like they are straight out of a magazine. She was one of the first vendors I secured once the wedding date was set. She is easy to talk to, responded to e-mails quickly & even helped set us up with a VW bus to take us to our reception. During the day of the wedding she made us feel comfortable & always gave direction. We shot at various locations throughout the day, but never felt like we were being pulled away from our guests. “WOW” pretty much sums up Wendy Laurel and her work. Just one look at Wendy’s portfolio on her website and I absolutely fell in love with her style. Such beautiful soft photos playing with color and light. Wendy captured all the love and aloha spirit on our special wedding day in Maui. She was a pleasure to communicate and to work with in the months and days leading up to our wedding day. She arrived to our hotel resort on time to capture our “getting ready” photos. She made myself, the groom, and the wedding party feel at ease in front of the camera. Wendy guided us and positioned us throughout the day to get best shots possible. The photo package we selected included a second shooter, Jeffrey, and he was equally as nice as well.

During our wedding reception, we had some rain blessings which prevented us from taking some bride and groom portrait shots with the sunset, however Wendy contacted us the day after the wedding to offer to take a few more portraits of the newlyweds with the sun setting along the beach. That was a very kind gesture of her, and unexpected, as I’m not sure if any other photographer could be as sweet and thoughtful as her. I've heard that couples often wait a few months to see their wedding photos, however we received our wedding day images exactly one month after our wedding day, and they were oh so amazing! Everyone has commented on how lovely our wedding photos, and we are thankful we had Wendy capture our special day. Mahalo from the bottom of our hearts Wendy!

Wendy is phenomenal! Her photos of our Maui destination wedding were breathtaking, and she was so much fun to work with. She loves smiles, bright colors, and sunshine, and she shoots with film to capture all of those in their truest forms. Wendy is AMAZING. She captured such a special day for my husband and I in a way I don't think any other photographer could do justice for our wedding this spring. Wendy is an amazing wedding photographer and genuinely wants to make sure your pictures and experience are wonderful. Its rate to find a photographer that gives you the digital prints included in the original cost. Wendy went above and beyond by arranging on short notice a separate photo session one day prior to the wedding. I think she is wonderful. I get so many request on Facebook asking who my photographer was for the wedding. I'm so happy that we "found" Wendy and she was available for our family photos while we were in Maui. After looking at her website and her galleries, I knew her style was perfect for us – colorful and casual. But what was even better was Wendy herself! It is very apparent that she loves what she does and loves creating images that will last forever. She was so relaxed and kind - my kids were totally comfortable around her and it shows in the pictures. I knew without even seeing the proofs that our pictures would be perfect - and they are. When I started to look for a photographer for our wedding, there were so many to choose from on Maui. But when I found Wendy, I knew that I wanted her. The colors of her photographs are so vivid and it's as if you can almost feel the emotions of the people she is photographing. On the day of our wedding, she created an overwhelming sense of calm to everyone that she cam in contact with and was very easy to get along with. We had so much fun during our photo shoots and we were blown away when we received our photo gallery. Wendy was amazing. As everyone has already mentioned she not only captures beautiful shots, but she is so easy going you can't help but feel relaxed around her. Such grace. Our beach wedding was going to be a simple, quiet ceremony, as my husband and I hate being the center of attention. When we arrived at the beach and saw 4 other brides and LOTS of people, my heart sank. But, then I saw Wendy's sweet face and knew it was going to be okay. I have no idea how she did it, but our pictures looked amazing and you couldn't even tell that the beach was packed with brides. My husband and I laugh that we traveled thousands of miles away so we could have privacy only to be married in front of 50 strangers. :) Wendy is absolutely the best photographer--you can just feel her love. My husband and I choose Wendy for our small, intimate destination wedding in Maui because her photos convey a sense of fun. The photos from our wedding certainly did show that! They were gorgeous, colorful, and just perfect for us. We also did an engagement photo shoot with Wendy a few days before the wedding to get a little more comfortable with the camera (we are both a little camera shy) which was great! Amazing photos! Looooved using Wendy when my husband and got married in Hawaii. She was on time, so warm and friendly, she got us the pictures so quickly for our family and friends to see. Wendy was awesome. One thing that really impressed me most was how quick and efficient she was, without forsaking quality. My emails and questions never went unanswered for long, which is huge for a bride planning her wedding from across an ocean. She welcomed the ideas and photo examples I sent her. She also asked me detailed questions about timing, location, etc., and other things I had not considered. The other GREAT thing was the speed in which we received our photos after the wedding. In less than three weeks we had heard from her and we got to relive our wedding day. She understands how excited couples are to see the photos post-wedding.
