Dr. Wendy Hill was recommended to me and I am so grateful that she had time to meet with me. I needed some perspective on a difficult family situation that was causing a lot of sleepless nights. When I came into the office, I was super nervous but her calm demeanor and caring personality instantly put me at ease. I don’t know if her dog is a therapy dog but he also came to greet me to so that helped me relax instantly. I usually wouldn’t write a review for my therapist but Dr. Wendy is amazing and maybe it will help you if you are having a hard time finding the right person. My next issue is snoring….I wonder if her hypnotherapy can fix that? More...

Dr. Wendy Hill was recommended to me, I really appreciate the time she spent on the phone with me as well as her willingness to accommodate my schedule to fit me in.   I went to her office and was instantly welcomed by her warm personality (and sweet puppy). Her calm demeanor and relaxed manner helped me to feel comfortable and at ease instantly.  I found her to be very insightful and the perspective that she offered for my situation helped give me great clarity and comfort. She is easy to talk to and I felt like she was able to ascertain the root of the problem early on. I chose her not only because of the recommendation but also, when I looked at her website,  I saw that she has years of experience and offered hypnotherapy.... something I had been considering. Having never gone to a therapist before, and uncertain of what to expect, I can definitely say that this experience with Dr. Wendy  was extremely helpful and and I hope this helps others who are searching for the right therapist. If you are reading this review, I assume that you are looking for a therapist to help you deal with some things. Well, you've found the best therapist in Dr. Wendy Hill (Dr. Wendy).  She will make a huge impact in your life by teaching cognitive and emotional coping skills, helping to overcome trauma, and transforming you into the happy, joyful person you deserve to be.  I say these words because I have been a client of Dr. Wendy's for over nine months.  At the risk of sounding cliché, I knew from the moment I met her my life would never be the same, and this felt so good.  Please bear with me while I explain a little about my journey:While growing up as an only child, showing emotion, especially crying, meant that you were weak. Even if someone close to you died, there were no tears, and that person's life was never spoken about again.  All this repressed sadness turned to anger as I grew up.  Nine months ago I abruptly quit a lucrative 30 year career by a text message. I snapped, crashed and burned, and for the first time ever, I realized I had a "nervous breakdown." For a week, I didn't eat or bathe. The depression was all encompassing, and deep down inside I know what caused it, but it was too painful to address so I pushed it down, getting angrier at everything and everyone.  Over the years, I've have been in and out of therapy.  I despised every minute of it. I knew how to manipulate my therapy sessions, telling each therapist what I knew they wanted to hear so I could leave sooner.  I would never show any emotions, discuss my real issues, and wasted a lot of time and money.  After my spur-of-the-moment job resignation, my husband was beside himself.  He had never seen this side of me and was, frankly, terrified that I had become psychotic. He found Dr. Wendy on-line, spoke with her on the phone and attended my first few appointments which I don't remember.Note:  Dr. Wendy has two hour appointments vs. the traditional one hour sessions that other therapists have.  This was such a plus for me because, in my opinion, one hour is not enough time to feel comfortable enough to share deep feelings. At my third appointment, walking alone into Dr. Wendy's office I was greeted by her calm, elegant, professional appearance and her dog, Willy (who, I believe, is not from this world). It sounds strange to say, but I immediately felt safe, secure and relieved.  I sensed a very positive vibe with Dr. Wendy, and since I desperately needed help, I had to bare my soul. Keep in mind that no one, not even my husband, has seen this.  I was vulnerable, I cried and cried and then cried some more while Dr. Wendy gently took me back to the trigger points of my early childhood that contributed to my "nervous breakdown."  Bringing up unhappy memories was hard and made me relive the uncomfortable, anxious feelings.  But, if left buried, Dr. Wendy explained these unaddressed episodes will eventually come to the surface.  These sessions would leave me totally wiped out to the point that I had to go home and sleep.  But, when I awoke, I felt amazing: free, happy, and proud. Now let me tell you some of the traits Dr. Wendy possesses:Warm, emphatic, non-judgmental, focused - She validates you as a person with whatever challenges bring you to her. White-boarding, for me, was particularly helpful in seeing how my struggles originated and help set some short and long term goals. In your corner - Both you and Dr. Wendy discover where you are, what coping mechanisms would be helpful and what barriers are holding you back.  She uses her unique methods to find those answers. You will always get answers! Intelligent and intuitive - Therapy is extremely scary and difficult.  Just recently, I had the courage to discuss a very traumatic episode with her.  She  told me that since the day we met, she knew there was something deeply buried in me, but allowed me to progress at my own pace. As hard as this was, Dr. Wendy was right there, looking at me through her compassionate brown eyes, helping me to navigate this trauma in the most gentle, caring way. In closing, I'd like to express my sincere gratitude for the help Dr. Wendy provides:Dear Dr. Wendy,To say that you are my saving grace seems trite.  You are an integral part of my life and mean so much to me it is hard to put into words.  You have given me courage to face agonizing pain and have been my cheerleader.  I know of no one that can do your job and excel at it like you do.  You are a true angel, and I am so thankful that you're on this earth helping people like me.  Your passion, grace and empathetic nature exudes through your actions. You care about me not just as a client, but as a person. You held me while I cried, you were tough on me when I needed it, you laughed with me, and you taught me life-changing skills. Simply put, you get me. More...

It is difficult to put into words the difference that Wendy has made in my life.  I have been to therapists off and on in my adult life with small benefits.  I found Wendy and was interested in the hypnotherapy aspect of her practice.  I have finally found relief from the old wounds that I have had since childhood.  On-going depression, unhappy at work, unhappy marriage and not much hope are all things that I was experiencing.  Wendy is highly skilled and wastes no time getting to work.  If you are ready to work on yourself and make positive changes in your life, Wendy is the one for you.  She is worth every penny.  She has a wonderful workshop called the Renaissance Experience that will change your life.  It gets down to your core and heals the deepest wounds. Wendy is compassionate and competent and will make a difference in your life. More...

Dr. Wendy Hill is worth every penny. Therapy is not known to be cheap, it is an investment both financially as well as emotionally. To me, the biggest cost is staying where you are if you are not happy in your life on all levels. Wendy teaches this ability, to achieve such a constant state of happiness and inner peace.  Not being happy is also a dis-service to others, it can change the vibe of an entire office or family dynamic, but most of all, not being happy on all levels is a dis-service to yourself. Yes, it may be uncomfortable or a challenge to step out of your comfort zone, but once you do, you will wish you had a long time ago. The other great thing is the more work you do on yourself, the less likely you are to judge others even at all. We begin to trust the process more, that we are all interconnected and here to help one another grow.  Most of our judgements come off of our own reflection. I think it's most important to have a therapist you can trust and one who you feel is also invested in you. That is definitely Dr. Wendy from my multiple experiences with her. Many therapists, especially ones who promote their low prices, will take as many clients as possible. Not Dr. Wendy, she will turn down clients to make sure she is giving the clients she has her full dedicated attention. She is also a published author and does retreats in both San Diego and Idyllwild, California. Those I have yet to experience. Someone of her expertise and caliber is worth every penny she charges and more. But what she teaches is actually priceless. She truly loves what she does and it shows. She can actually take a seemingly heavy topic and make it fun to tackle! It has been a great pleasure getting to experience the truly magnificent, life changing Dr. Wendy Hill and I am looking forward to partaking in her upcoming retreat soon in Encinitas, California as well as the retreat in Idyllwild. I also look forward to reading her books, listening to more of her amazing healing music about being all you can be and when "The Call to Adventure" DVD series is ready, I cannot wait to experience it's effect! I know how much heart and soul Dr. Wendy put into it and I'm certain I will love the final product. Thank you to this amazing woman, Dr. Wendy Hill  for not just being great at what she does, but also being a living example of going outside of her own comfort zone and commitment to always be growing in her own life. Take a session or book a retreat with Dr. Wendy and you will be truly inspired! PS - I rarely write reviews unless I am really happy, as in the service or product is above and beyond or unless I feel I was wronged and usually if I feel wronged once, I will try to resolve it with the person, before I come to yelp, as we all can have days that are not the best as well as even a simple misunderstanding. My multiple experiences with Dr. Wendy Hill thus far have been nothing short of above and beyond, this is why I felt compelled to share. Thanks and best of luck finding a therapist, hypnotist or healer that is right for you. More...

Wendy Hill is my first therapist and I want to say that I have been very fortunate to find her.  She is a great person who cares and understands many points of view.  She helped me to take better care of myself every day, live with more self-awareness, more choices, and more vitality; essentially healthy and joyful.I recently attended her Renaissance Workshop and it was a truly transforming experience for me.  The methods and tools she uses in a group setting were very effective for me.  I have made it a point to use the therapy tools she has given to me on a daily basis.  I am very grateful for all the personal help she has provided me and feel confident that she has the abilities and knowledge to help many others in their therapy.  I highly recommend her to anyone who requires therapy for a variety of reasons.  I do not think you will be disappointed. I am ever so grateful that I was led to Dr. Wendy Hill. I found her online through her website.  I had an issue I wanted to resolve and I felt that she could help me.  After a couple of months of therapy sessions, I signed up for the five-day Renaissance program.  This is where I got to the source of my issue.  I got to see aspects of myself I had not seen before.  I also received tools for managing negativity or enhancing my positive aspects.  I became closer to my Inner Child.  I am currently in Renaissance follow-up with other graduates of the program.  We give each other support and bring our issues/problems forward for feedback and ideas for resolution. Her work is transforming and thorough.  She is very adept at getting to the root of things.  Best of all--for me--, she comes from a deep, universal, spiritual place. Just yesterday I was reviewing this page and noticed two reviews that were critical of her in a way that was not constructive.  Every person perceives through his/her own filter, but anyone reviewing this site will see the glowing 5-star ratings from persons who "stayed the course," were willing to have their blind spots revealed to them, and receive pure, unconditional love from Wendy's proactive counseling.  Yes, she can be direct, but rude?  Not in my filter!  She processed me through my repressed anger and facilitated my transformation.  This was no walk in the park for her.  There has been no one like her in my life who was so able to get to the root of my dysfunction.  As for the money issue, because I was honest with her about my finances, she offered me a more affordable package with a payment plan.  I just had to ask for it.  Joan L More...

I had my first appt with Wendy yesterday and I was really impressed with her and her knowledge sincerity and loving energy.  You could tell she really cares.  Also, she has the cutest dog!  I had ordered her book through her website and she emailed me to tell me she was mailing it out and told me to feel free to call her with any questions.   I received the book and absolutely related and loved it!  We emailed back and worth and then spoke on the phone.  I found her fees to be comparable to other therapists and her sessions are much longer.  I went to one person in Scripps Ranch who was $100 for 45 minutes and she wasn't close to as good as Wendy.  In my experience,  therapy is just plain expensive.  But, if I could afford it, I would definitely go to Wendy on a regular basis.  She definitely knows her stuff and I felt completely comfortable telling her everything. She has a loving energy and I got a lot of just our one visit. I plan to do the processes outlined in her book and set appts here and there to go over certain things with her.  You should check out her website, read her daily blogs and you will see what I mean! Q&As

This is easy for me to answer. I love the results my clients experience. I love the reports of greater self-confidence, peace of mind, resolved relationship issues, and the resolution of life challenges. I love the look of gratitude in their eyes when their lives have changed for the better. In the workshops I do with clients I love the love and kindness they show each other. I love the unsolicited texts, emails, and letters of gratitude I receive from clients I have not seen for years. I love especially the love they have found within themselves.

My father was a physician and from the time I was a child I knew I wanted to do something that helped others. I didn't know what that was but as I grew and matured I was constantly pulled by a feeling of joyful expectation at what that would be. I learned over time that those feelings are the manifestation of a true calling. Later in graduate school I became clear that I was to be a therapist. One of my professors was Carl Rogers, the father of humanistic psychology. He took me under his wing for a time and I learned compassion and patience from him. I felt that to do justice to my future clients I needed to do the work I would ask others to do myself as well. So a big part of my training was for me to be a client in therapy myself. Then I read a book about Dr. Milton Erickson, the father of hypnotherapy. I was deeply inspired by his healing processes. I consequently contacted him and he invited me to join him for training. His training opened an additional and inspiring door for deeper and more effective treatment for my clients.

This therapy gets results. Over the many years of private practice I have developed a style and processes that get to the root of any problem. I don't treat symptoms. I treat the underlying cause, the core of how you think, feel, and act. I understand how we are programmed throughout our lives and how we are motivated by the subconscious core beliefs we carry about ourselves, life, and others. I understand how to help you transform those self-defeating core beliefs into core beliefs that support healthy adult experience. I do all this with compassion, respect, and a directness that helps you transcend your defenses.
