We Wan Chu Cottages

We Wan Chu, Peter, and all of his staff has become part of our family tradition for the last 26 years - I was just 4 years old when we came to CHQ for the first time and it has become the tradition or entire family has looked forward to for many years. ||||Peter is friendly, accommodating, and quick to help if every anything needs addressed. He’s worked very hard to continue to update the cabins each year - I.e., new flooring, couches, TVs, and kitchen appliances (we are in C3). ||||This is a vacation for people who like to be outdoors, enjoying all lake Chautauqua has to offer. Not a vacation for people who want to sit and watch TV. It may not be a fancy hotel, but I give it 5 stars because it is a wonderful, peaceful place to visit. More...

Had our family vacation back in August got our 6 cabins as always very clean. Peter and his staff were very accommodating had no issues. He set up the large charcoal grill by our cabin so we could do our dinner barbecue. Rented a pontoon boat for the week got plenty of use out of it. The property is very kid friendly room to roam and play areas for the toddlers which we had a few. Great location close to Wineries, Bemis Point, Panama Rocks. At night was nice to relax at the fire and unwind. We have been going there for 13 years and each year Peter and the staff are very welcoming it’s like a reunion for our family. I’ve read some of the reviews that weren’t so good. I would like to disagree. I have stayed at many different locations for over 15 years on Chautauqua Lake. This is by the the nicest that I’ve been In. They have numerous things for everyone. The salt water pool is fantastic fir those who want to get out of the sun or on a cool or rainy day. A beach for the kids to build sand castles, a dock for jumping off and a small park for all the kids to meet and hang out. If you like to fish and don’t have a boat, there are boats you can rent. They have a horseshoe pit, volleyball net, a game room also. | We wan chu has cabins that suit larger families and smaller families. They are well kept and clean. This isn’t a 5 star Ritz Carlton but it’s camping. If you are looking for that maybe don’t visit Chautauqua Lake because you won’t find it there. | We had a couple cabins rented as there was a group of us. The owner was very accommodating. | They have a large grass area that you can basically do whatever, which we had kickball games nightly. | The staff worked hard keeping the place clean. I’ve stayed at places where other people have thrown the garbage all over, left cans, cigarette bursts etc... to me that’s disrespect to others. | Check in is at 3. I called to see if I can get in earlier and Peter allowed me to because the other family left. That shows a lot. I always felt welcome as ALL the staff were great. Sometimes it’s the small things that matter and that’s why we will be going back next year for the 3rd time. This is my second year of staying here. I stayed at several places in Chautauqua Lake. This was the best. I wish I would’ve found this years ago. It is a great place for friends and family children of all ages can enjoy this. There are so many things to do here. The indoors salt pool is huge and very nice for this when it may rain the children have something to do. Nice playground for the kids. Fishing was great. The staff is very friendly and helpful anything you need they are there for you. The second year we stayed there my coffee pot was leaking. I went up to tell Peter the owner did it was leaking without another word he went into the other room and got me a brand new coffee pot. Wow very clean and well taken care of.|| We love the campfire at night it got all the campers together to sit around and talk meet new people. Roasted marshmallows. . ||The only thing bad about this place was the day we were going home. We were very sad that we had to leave. But we will be back next year More...

Not one for motels or hotels. I need comfort, and love making my own coffee and food in the morning. This place is spacious and quiet-I like that!
Mr. Weimer has done something real cool too. He has built this ever cool heated indoor pool and hot tub. What a brilliant idea!
My cabin was nice, and had a very nice view of the lake.
While amidst Amish and fisherman during my stay there, this place delivered everything I wanted. Peace and quiet. And most of all comfort.
Unclear when I'm headed back to Chautauqua Lake, since I now live in Argentina, but when I do, I'm staying at We Wan Chu cabins..

For a few years now, I've been visiting this lake in the spring and staying at We Wan Chu Cottages. Why? # One would be the early catch and release bass fishing the lake and state offers. This treat is something we don't have in southern Ontario, where I am from. Next of course is the friendly service and great amenities we get at We Wan Chu Cottages, right on the water in Mayville. This resort is conveniently located close to some of the best bass fishing the lake has to offer. I have lots of great sports near there but this past trip I found even more - thanks to the wind which forced my friend Gerry and I to find new waters. Fortunately, the lake provides respites from the wind - which still provide visiting anglers with great fishing. In my latest Focus On Fishing article on wilwegman.com I go into some detail on productive patterns, locations and show plenty of fish pics. We even caught bonus walleye and muskie!
