About

I’ve been working as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist for over 10 years, seeing a wide range of cases. I pride myself on approaching both pets and their owners with non-judgement and open-mindedness. I specialise in anxious dogs, separation anxiety and touch sensitivity (grooming, vet exams, treatments etc).

Naomi has been fantastic at helping us work on our pup's separation anxiety. Due to him having lots of health issues as a puppy we weren't able to leave him alone initially, and therefore when we tried to attempt small absences it became apparent he had separation anxiety. We tried all the little tricks you read about online and all the 'dog pheromones' that are supposed to help, but without any success. Since working with Naomi, our dog has developed confidence and resilience when being alone. This is still a work in progress and we are continuing to work with Naomi - but he has came so far already. He can now handle 1hr absences easily, and is able to bounce back more quickly from setbacks. Both me and my husband highly recommend working with Naomi, and have found her to be a huge support, both for our dog and also for us - dealing with any dog anxiety can be really stressful! More...

Q&As

Hearing how much more relaxed and confident people and their pets feel after working together, and how the knowledge gained will help them for years to come.

I knew I wanted to help people and their pets, and I wanted to be able to do it in a way that was tailored to individuals. I wanted to be able to have the flexibility to meet people where they're at and the freedom to work in the way I feel is best for everyone.

Having fostered and adopted a number of dogs with behaviour issues over the years, I not only have the academic learning but I truly understand what living with a pet with a behaviour problem on a daily basis can be like. I feel this helps me to understand the human perspective and challenges as well as the pet's. I genuinely want to help people!

Yes! In fact in many ways this can work much better for lots of cases, at least in the initial stages. We can talk through everything without worrying about what your dog is up to or me getting in the way of what they would normally do. With video assessments as a part of the process you can show me anything I need to see and I can still provide feedback as needed. It's often more comfortable for many people, especially as so many of us are so used to working online these days.

I initially switched entirely online, I am happy to wear a mask and hand sanitise now during in person sessions.

Services

Full behavioural assessment, written report, contact with your vet as needed, follow up sessions and contact via WhatsApp depending on package chosen.

For those wanting to know more on a particular subject workshops can be arranged either for owners or as Continued Professional Development for other professionals.

I have developed a self-paced step-by-step mini course on introducing/reintroducing your dog to the vet/groomer. This is for you if your dog hides, shakes, or lunges and barks. Or a handy guide to get you started if it's your dog's first time and you want to get it right from the start.

My own dog used to kick up a huge fuss at the vets leaving me feeling embarrassed and like I couldn't get him the care I really wanted for him. After training he can now go into the vets, settle while I talk to the vets and has even made friends with them! I feel confident about our visits. I know that he won't miss out on anything, and he now gets the best possible care and treatment.
