What makes a great website?
A great website is one that allows the visitor to find the info their searching for throughout the site, with eye catching graphics that don't take over from the content. Easy to use navigation and interaction is key.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
My first question is always, what do you want your website to achieve, or how do you want this marketing campaign to work. Most clients have an idea of what they want anyway, but gentle guidance is essential to show what can be achieved with great results.
I also ask if they have a logo already designed, if not we can start with that, but if they have then that's a great place to start with looking at colour schemes and fonts. Then most clients will tell me what sites they admire, so that gives me a good indication of what style to try.
What do you love most about your job?
The variation in projects, marketing campaigns, large format and poster printing, sometimes revamping a tired looking site, more often than not designing websites, logos, brochures, posters, vehicle graphics from scratch with a blank canvass and getting to know and understand clients realm of expertise and industry.
Always interesting and always a great feeling when a client is extremely happy with a design project.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Always loved being creative and also love the technical side of graphic design. I was a senior marketing designer for a while before the company I worked for relocated 100 miles away, so that gave me the push to start my own business in 2001 and I've enjoyed every minute of it.
Why should our clients choose you?
I like to think I am dependable, trustworthy, I always strive to meet deadlines agreed with the client, I also think that 80% of the work I get is through referral from previous happy clients which sort of says it all. My main aim with any project is for my client to be totally satisfied with the final result.
