My first impression was not great, as parking is a nightmare. Very limited parking outside the clinic and permit parking all around. I took a chance and parked in a permit area, and I was lucky. I had booked an appointment and it was only a couple of minutes after this time that I was called in. The consultation was free and the advice I was given was very comprehensive. I had taken some altitude tablets I had bought online into the clinic with me to get conformation that they were genuine. Which to my relief they were.! I was greeted by friendly staff and asked to take a seat as I was early for my appointment, a short while later Aleks who was the travel consultant invited me into the medical room, Aleks was friendly and welcoming, she asked me various questions related to my forthcoming travel whilst looking at the information on her screen with relation to the country that I'm travelling to, there were a number of inoculations that whilst weren't absolutely essential they were advised depending on your length of stay or activities undertaken whilst abroad, absolutely no pressure was put upon me to have these inoculations. I was given the last Hepatitis B vaccination today (there are three altogether). I asked to postpone my originally booked appointment on the phone on Thursday, so it was moved to this morning. It only turned out today that they do not normally give vaccinations on Saturdays, so they were a bit surprised when I arrived. However, I felt I was welcomed and I didn't even have to wait. Aleks, the lady who gave me the jab remembered me because she had given me the second one last year - and because last year I was really scared due to my extremely negative experience with the first one, which I was given elsewhere. I was very happy to see her today. If my appointment hadn't been postponed, I couldn't have seen her because she didn't work on Thursday! To be honest, I was still a bit nervous but it was so much better than last year. She was very kind and gentle, just like last December, so it was easy to relax. The vaccination did not hurt and although it was delivered very slowly and gently, it only took a few seconds. My arm has been all right ever since. The receptionist was transactional - and took more time to ensure I knew about the deposit and payment terms than expressing any empathy for my questions or concerns. I was seen immediately yesterday although I walked in from the street. Although I was very worried about getting a vaccination due to some quite bad experience elsewhere, I was put at ease straight away and I didn't even have to wait. The lady who gave me the jab was very kind, patient, helpful, understanding and gentle. She even gave me some good advice on how to sit, how to hold my arm, what to do and what not to do once I get home. Very useful tips I'd never been given anywhere else before! As per the name, I just walked in and was seen straight away as there was no one else waiting.They ran through the recommendations and were very open about what could be obtained through the NHS or what their own charges would be - not in the slightest bit pushy to go for theirs.
