The Waggin & Walkin team provide an invaluable service to our family. Our dog really enjoys her walks and socialising with other dogs when she's out walking. We follow W&W on Facebook and it's lovely to see the photos and videos they post of all the dogs playing together. We've used them for four years and find the online portal to schedule walks, puppy visits and view invoices extremely useful. I cannot speak highly enough of Waggin and Walkin. My partner had heard several very good reports of them from locals and waited for them to have a slot available for us and we are so pleased we did. Over time both Jayne and Melissa have visited and walked our dogs and looked after our house cat, so we have experience of both of them, and they are very accommodating, very flexible and just lovely. Jayne took the time to get to know my dog-daughter Gytha and her cat-siblings Magrat and Gordi in order to give them the best care during the dog walks and home-boarding. What do you love most about your job?
Dog walking and Cat sitting is the best job in the world. We considere ourselves extremely fortunate to be able to spend our days with the most amazing animals on the planet, your best friend(s). We love to be able to work ouside, and look forward to the new adventures that will bring. We love the excercise, companionship and the unconditional love your amazing pets give us. We get to make a lot of furry friends and get to meet some wonderful people. We get to send photos and videos to the owners to show what an awesome time they are having and we get to witness really adorable things constantly. Lastly we get to be a BIG Part of your dogs and cats life, and then the most amazing thing is seeing how much your Dogs LOVE their Dog Walker and how much your Cats LOVE their Cat sitter.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My love for animals started many years ago, when I read an article about the bears that are poached from the wild and trained to 'dance' for tourists. My dream that day was to somehow give something back, to bring happiness, care and quality of life to all animals. Over the years, I have volunteered with the Siberian Husky Club, re-homing unwanted dogs at a wildlife sanctuary in Arizona. I have also worked at the Liberty Bear Sanctuary in Romania, and the Triaj Dog Shelter near Brasov.
Seldom has there been a time in my life that I haven't had one or more pets by my side. Over the years several dogs, including 5 Huskies, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, and even a Minor Bird called Boris, have all made their way into my heart.
As a former Dog Groomer I have come to realize how much experience, time, energy and patience goes into caring for animals. As a pet owner I also realise how hard it is to entrust that responsibility to someone I don't know. Because of this, I created Waggin and Walkin!
The time had finally come to follow my dream of working with animals by doing what I love to do. I needed to feel like I was making a difference in the lives of others. I needed to run with the pack. I needed to roll around on the ground with all types of dogs and get big wet slobbery licks all over my face.
