My family LOVES dinner and a movie. And we love the Hippodrome. The new theaters have great seating, and you can choose a recliner or table (the tables have souped-up office chairs). They are missing a star for the following reasons:1. Portion sizes don't match the prices.2. $4.50 for a soft drink? No wonder they leave the price off the menu. It was an unpleasant surprise when I took my kids and spent $18 just to get 4 glasses of soda. Now that I think of it, they're lucky I'm not making this 3 stars just for that.Bottom line, we love this place and will return. Last time we went, we decided to eat after the movie due to the above reasons. If they want to make more money, they should fix those issues. If you have to charge $4.50 for a soft drink just to make money, you're doing something else wrong. Maybe get some popcorn smell going in the lobby or something. That's one thing that's missing. You'll get the margins you're trying to achieve with the soda, but people are much more willing to pay more for popcorn than a coke, because they can't just go to the next gas station and get the same thing for a quarter the price. ;) More...

Such a beautiful theater. Has a very old timey feel, but also has modern amenities. The movies are good, the food is decent, and the drink are delicious. Love coming to the Hippodrome!

The new theater seating in the new area was fantastic. The power leather recliners had plenty of arm room and were very comfy. I had not been to this place in years because of the bad sound system when it first opened but its great now. 2 adults in reserved recliners was $22 which is more than fair. This place was GREAT! The seats were amazingly comfortable, fluffy and they recline! Way better than the flat seats at AMC Galaxy! The staff were so nice and attentive! I was able to order like 3 min after sitting down. The food was great I recommend the The Tender Lovin' chicken tender meal. The popcorn was also excellent! And the butter was real and fabulous! UPDATE: 5/10/19:Since my original review, the Hippodrome manager/owner called us, sincerely apologizing and generously offered to re-book our tickets for free — and gave my husband and I meal vouchers to accompany our movie. The wonderful customer service has definitely won us back. Looking forward to enjoying our upcoming movie - and many more in the future - at the Hippodrome. —————————————————————-Very disappointed and dissatisfied with the Waco Hippodrome. I’ve lived in Waco since its reopening and have visited countless times, but now I’m considering never going back - which is sad because I would much rather support a local theater than a big chain. My husband and I booked 2 tickets on 5/2/19 for recliner seats, to see the new Marvel Endgame movie on 5/3/19, through their website (not Fandango). Our credit card was charged $21 for the tickets and we received a payment confirmation from PayPal. But upon arriving to theater 15 minutes early, The theater staff notified us that they had no record of our tickets, despite us showing electronic proof of the payment via our PayPal receipt. There was no manager that could help us, and apparently the owner was out of town. We never received a refund, although they tried to offer us seats in the movie - however they were non-recliner seats up at the very front, which we did not want, since we originally paid for recliners in a much better section. We were also not offered similar seats on a different day/time. We left our contact information with the theater staff and were promised that a manager or the owner would call us or contact us by Saturday (5/4) or Monday (5/6) and we have yet to hear from anyone and have not received any type of refund.So here we are, still $21 in the hole for a movie I’ve never seen. Needless to say, I’m VERY disappointed in the Hippodrome, as I have been a loyal customer for years and on most other occasions have been happy to give the theater my patronage. More...

If anyone has been to a studio movie grille or anything of that nature, you will be right at home here. Except he best part is the pricing is phenomenally cost competitive. In fact, it is less expensive for the similar fantastic service received. The staff and management care, I spoke to an upper management figure, Michael, and he is very fun and energetic and is all about a good experience. The screen is large, the sound could be louder but who likes a busted eardrum? I highly recommend a try of this theater over the AMC. It's great quality for a cheaper ticket price! This is one of my favorite brunch places in Waco, the signature fries are a MUST have with any meal. They recently did a huge renovation - I have yet to see an actual movie here though. ..Their new dining space is a bit smaller but it's definitely got a cute 80's diner vibe (sorry if I got the decade wrong...but think old school diner vibes with the mod bar stools - like Danny from Grease is how I would describe it)The only think i'm a bit sad about is that they raised the price of the mimosa carafe from $8 to $15...and now use a different champagne, that's not quite on par with the old one (not sure but it tasted different)Otherwise, I still love the food and I love the new atmosphere, I have yet to check out the roof top patio which is only open for dinner More...
