Lovely food and setting. Really nice staff
Very enjoyable meal. New management since turn of year has added some oomph to a local favourite.
Had lunch here today with friends and everything was fantastic. Genuine friendly service, a warm welcome and crackingly good food, gorgeously presented. This was our first visit since Billy and Melvin took over. Definitely not our last! Highly recommended. More...

Yum yum yummy yum.
This place has always done good food but under new owners Billy and Melvin it is even better. Best Sunday roast in ages. Great weekday food too.

I've been two Sundays in a row now, they make a beautiful roast, amazing roast vegetables and tender meat. The staff are welcoming and kind, and remembered us which was really lovely!
Stopped here for lunch. Excellent food and friendly staff.
New owners. New menu. Newly refurbished. All in all, a great improvement. Oh, they now take card payments!

Lovely little restaurant, great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. Very well priced too. Will be going back
been a couple of times when in the area. nice and relaxing
Amazing food and excellent service!
Delicious food. Never disappointed by the quality of food. Shame I always get seated near the back, but despite this it is a nice place to go and would recommend.
Good food and service
Nice restaurant in Walthamstow Village with a good range of food options: chicken, and beef burgers, steak, pork belly, lamb, and several vegetarian options. Reasonably priced, good service, and pleasant environment. Does breakfast on saturday and sunday. Quite popular so probably need to book More...
Confit duck starter, chicken burger main, creme brulee dessert, all excellent. Good cocktails and really friendly atmosphere. It's not huge so I see why some find it loud, but I like it More...
We visited on a Sunday. We hadn't booked. We were greeted by friendly staff. Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere. Left generous tip as would gladly gave paid more for our meal.
Randomly stopped by on a Thursday night. Service was friendly, the waitress mentioned that there was only chef on that night but the good came in good time and was excellent! Highly recommended.
Really lovely restaurant in the village. Great food and an even better atmosphere and the (presumed) owner was very accommodating and lovely. I recommend the risotto.
Superb food and service. A gem of a restaurant.

Excellent Sunday roast. Best I've had in a restaurant. Great service too.
This place is great and especially with a doggie
Popped in for lunch today! Food was amazing ! And the staff are absolutely lovely x
It's a completely different pub from what it was before (and I mean that in the best possible way). Now far and away the best pub in Walthamstow village (no pun intended).
the village is under new ownership( Spring 2019) and people are recommending it very highly.
Great food nice new owners been there three times food and service always good
Absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this cute, classy but very reasonably priced gem! Owners personally came out to greet us and make sure we were happy which was a fantastic and very personable touch. Food was sensational - fully recommend the Salmon - cooked to absolute perfection. Delicious burgers. Menu really varied and interesting ALL delicious! Even though they hadn’t got the draft pump yet you can have a pint! A very nice one at that. Wine is fab! Perfect for a special occasion, date, casual or fancy dining. Very reasonable prices would thoroughly recommend and definitely WILL be going back! Thank you The Kitchen - you made our afternoon! More...
Lovely breakfast, friendly service
Has to be one of the best Sunday lunches I've tasted. The staff and owners were amazing. Will definitely return next time we're back in London.
Never usually post reviews but this place is so lovely. We’ve been a number of times and the service is always really friendly and the owners make the atmosphere really welcoming! Food is absolutely amazing!
Really great place to eat. Slight confusion over the order placed, but problem was eventually rectified. The waiter apologised. We didn't mind, we were snacking on bread and olives.Starters of mushrooms on toast was divine, as was the sharing platter. For mains, I had the vegan dahl and it was really, really good. My son had the vegetarian risotto. The tempura courgettes were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our night out. These guys are going places. More...
Back for another delicious Sunday roast! My husband enjoyed the vegetarian nut roast, hit and miss in lots of places. My roast lamb and our friend's lamb shank were cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty all served with huge Yorkshire Puds. Probably one of the best roast meals we've had out todate. 10/10 to Melvin and Billy for great food, service and their hospitality. We'll be back soon! More...
Amazing roast potatoes, veggie roast and friendly staff!
Great Sunday lunch and really friendly service - thank you.
Cracking little place, the chicken burger and accompanying chips were lush. Service was good too. Recommended.
Great roasts nice staff!
Great food, and friendly staff
love the village great food great atmosphere
Looking good following the refurbishment. Garden has been re-landscaped and tidied too.
As new mums my friend and I came here for lunch last Wednesday. We were given a great welcome by the owners and they quickly moved tables for us to let us fit our buggies in to sit near the window on a lovely sunny day. We went for the £16 2 course offer followed by a soft spongey sticky toffee dessert. The vegan cauliflower soup was very tasty-it was quite thick which is much nicer than a watery messy soup especially when holding a baby! The chicken burger is honestly the nicest I've ever had, succulent and seasoned really well with lovely homemade chunky chips. Portions are generous and very filling. Will definitely be returning of a Sunday for their huge roast which looks mouth watering in the pics! More...
We had a lovely Sunday afternoon here with friends. The service was friendly and the staff all very welcoming. The food was excellent and a great choice of vegetarian and vegan options. Would highly recommend it.
Nice place to eat. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Looked like a nice, family-run restaurant. Came here to grab dinner with mum - a chilled atmosphere with friendly staff and good food. Thought it was a bit expensive for the portion size and given that this is not Central London; but overall good! More...
the food was great the service was excellent. the sweet chilli was to die for. made us feel really welcome kid friendly it is a must go to.
Stopped by for a pint of Guinness on Paddy's Day. Good atmosphere, love the refurbishment and the bar snacks went down well too. Definitely a place for a drop and an hour or two. More...

Very nice, and good change!! I love this pub, great food!!
New refurb. Great beer garden
Great pub, lovely people highly recommend
New owners, new menu, new decor - all for the better. Tasty food & great service, very accommodating.
Had such an amazing meal! As a vegetarian its great to have a good choice and high quality! Will definitely back.
Had 2 full english, a chorizo scrambled egg and 2 kids breakfasts, 1 coffee and a ginger beer for £59. You can decide if that's good value. If I had any complaints it would be that if you're charging £0.95 for toast (as it's not included) it should be hand sliced good bread, not cheap sliced bread. Sausages were good but the bacon was either not the best quality or not cooked very well as the fat should have been made crispy. Still 4 stars as it was good overall and the service is excellent. Delicious food in big portion, friendly boss and staff. Good ambience
Lovely Sunday lunch with friends
Good food, good service and what came on the plates was undoubtedly good value for the money. Without hesitation I will definitely plan to return. If I had just one small criticism the chef appears to be a little too heavy with the salt seasoning but it was palatable. More...
A lovely Sunday lunch.
Roast dinner was excellent. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Really good wine list. Delicious deserts too though a little on the pricey side at 7.50.

Very good Sunday roast. So good it was up there with my mum's and that's saying something
Open before 10am on Sunday for breakfast was a definite plus for me and the food / choices were great. We couldn't argue the 12.5% service charge either
We all agreed that this was a superb Sunday roast. We had beef and duck and it was perfectly cooked. As for the potatoes, don't think I've ever tasted any better in a restaurant. Must also mention our lovely (and patient) waiter... Finally found a reason to leave the house on sunday! More...

I don't normally leave reviews but good service should be acknowledged. I visited Village Kitchen yesterday for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary and the food was absolutely delicious. My sister brought my mother and me here for a late dinner after an exhausting flight. This was my first night ever in London and I could not have spent it in a better place. Nice pub. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. "Two Hoots" ale was a nice, well kept pint.
Very professional and helpful but unfortunately I was unable to use this company for my event. I will certainly contact them in the future when I have other events to organise.

Food is of the highest standard excellent flavours. Only one criticism as it's a small restaurant it struggled to give generous portions especially if catering for a larger party. Would definitely recommend .
I really enjoy visiting the Village market. It has a lovely community feel and is a great place to stop and have lunch or pick up something to take home. The stall holders are all local too and it feels good to be supporting local businesses. More...

This is a great restaurant in the now gentrified Walthamstow Village. The menu is interesting, sufficiently varied to meet a wide range of tastes while still being clearly tailored to the capabilities of the kitchen. If it is a busy time, expect to wait, but then if you want fast food there's probably a McDonalds somewhere. Realistic pricing, not cheap but I went away happy with the value. More...

It's been a long time since I've been wowed by an eatery but The Village Kitchen ticked that box. Plentiful servings coupled with flavoursome delights and I've not reached dessert yet. Highly recommend 5* all the way.
The guys that run it make you feel so welcome lovely people.
We were regular customers at the Village Kitchen for many years until we moved out of Walthamstow around 8 years ago. We decided to return for lunch today during a visit to the area and were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was lovely. Looking forward to a return visit soon. More...
Amid the creeping gentrification of Walfumstow this place remains ordinary in the best sense.
Good choice of lagers, beers (including a few craft), wines & spirits. Food was above basic pub grub and atmosphere was a bit bo-ho for me but; what can you do. ;-)
Lovely family pub, nice food, good choice of beers/drinks and very friendly! Will definitely be back!!
Very nice place, good service, nice food and ambience. Definitely I'll be back.

Nice location. Very good outside area . Great friendly staff . Have been there a good few times. And I'll be back .
I was inebriated and my recollection is rather fuzzy. However the burger I had was the best I've had in a very long time and the beer was flowing and well kept.
Good atmosphere from the buzz of people enjoying themselves. Happy to help staff and reasonably priced drinks.

Beautiful little pub, every time we go to walthamstow we have to stop here.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon, the staff were very friendly, and the food was very filling, cooked to perfection.
Lovely, unusual space in the heart of Walthamstow Village. Carefully curated top class exhibitions, free and always open. Result!
Lovely food, would definitely recommend!I booked a table for myself and my husband for his birthday (25/08/15) as we moved to Walthamstow about a year ago and this place always looked busy. The place was pretty busy even for a Tuesday....! My husband had his eye on the confit duck and the waitress told us there was only one left so we got our order in quickly as there were a few other groups. I had the belly pork, beautiful flavours and lovely generous size crispy crackling on top. The waitress was great - she was running round like a blue a**** fly all evening but was great! Would definitely recommend this place, not as pretentious as some of the other places in 'The Village'...... More...

Just had a Sunday roast there, and it was one of the best restaurant roasts I've ever had. Great service and food, I couldn't fault it.
Excellent no fuss food, can't beat the place, been at least 6 times now and never a bad meal, my favourite place to eat in London

Nice pub with well kept beer, very nice beer garden and good reasonably priced menu. A good place for a pub lunch or dinner.

Attended cousin Caroline's birthday lunch here. What gorgeous food! I didn't have to season any of my meal: it was all perfectly balanced. Best sunday roast in London, especially the awesome roast lamb
Hidden gem - amazing service, quality ingredients / flavours - highly recommend a visit
Just celebrated Christina & jons marriage at the village kitchen, the food was amazing & friendly happy staff, xx
I'd been dying to try The Village Kitchen after seeing it stuffed to the gills with the fashionable Walthamstow Village ilk for weeks. We booked a table for a quiet Monday evening and were given a superb seat by the window: good sign. We ordered wine, chicken tandoori and pork belly ... Folks, it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was tender and beautifully flavored; my pork belly had the perfect crackling on top and the little pearls of sweet apple did wonders as the accompaniment. Although we were too full for dessert, our bill arrived with a jar of pick 'n mix. Now if that isn't appealing, then I don't know what is. Book to avoid disappointment. angloyankophile.com More...
I made a reservation at the Village Kitchen on a Monday evening, having seen the place buzzing every time I walked past Orford Road. We were greeted by a friendly hostess, who kindly gave us the best table in the restaurant by the window! With our meal already off to a good start, we ordered wine and mains of chicken tandoori and pork belly.I didn't really know what to expect, especially having read the mixed reviews here, but we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and service. My pork belly was tender, with plenty of crunchy crackling. My husband's chicken tandoori was absolutely delicious - the flavors worked really well together. Compare to our sub-par experience at Eat17 across the road, I'd definitely return to the Village Kitchen again. Plus - any restaurant that brings a jar of pick n mix along with the bill (yes, really!) is a winner in my books! More...
Can't even begin to explain how impressed I am with dinner tonight at Village Kitchen in Walthamstow. The service was divine - the kitchen altered to my food sensitivities with ease and produced the most incredible starter and main course. Not to mention the owners Spiros and Hanna were absolutely lovely and clearly so passionate about producing amazing, high quality, carefully sourced food. Brilliant in every way. Highly recommended!! The food here was the unexpected highlight of a trip to Walthamstow. We had two mains: tuna steak with vegetables and grilled salmon with noodles. Both were excellent - perfectly cooked, reasonable portions and reasonably priced. Wow.For dessert we had the sharing plate of brownie, cheesecake, chocolate bread and butter pudding and ice cream. Again, fantastic. The service was courteous and prompt throughout and the jar of sweets to peruse that came with the bill a nice touch. More...
Shockingly underrated! The village is really a beautiful old-fashioned pub, with a cosy snug and a substantial garden. The service is nice, quick, and the bar has everything you need. But I would travel to the ends of the earth for their triple cooked chips! More...
You've never felt so at home as when you eat here, oh, except the food is better!!!
This place has a simply awesome garden. A great place to hang out with some drinks. we've been here about a dozen times, and been blown away every time. tonight the rabbit and trout were both terrific!
Right, if you do nothing else in E17 this year, make sure you visit the VK. We're spoilt in the village with our eateries but this one really does stand out. Excellent service snd a superb menu. Don't miss out More...
The food was well cooked and the service was friendly and professional.
This was a wonderful find! From the outside you would have no idea that there was a total gem of a restaurant inside. The service is brilliant from the moment you walk in. We went on a Monday night and while there were plenty of tables available, there were a lot of people there, yet the service was not compromised in the slightest. The restaurant is laid out beautifully and has quite a classy feel which is nice. The menu is vast with lots of delicious looking options. I had the chicken dish which was really nicely cooked, plenty of side veges to tuck into and great flavours. My man had the pork belly which was cooked very well, but the crackle was a bit tough which made it difficult to eat. The mash and jus were delish. We didn't have dessert but they did bring out a jar of lollies with the bill which was a really lovely touch. We'll certainly be back! More...
Pretty much always top notch and staff are always lovely.
Love the food here, never disappoints
Not the cheapest place to eat but I've yet to have a poor meal or bad service here. Would not hesitate to recommend it.
Beautiful food, excellent sevice, well worth a next visit
The best roast dinner you will ever have! Fantastic staff, delicious food. We had a table for 30 people and still every meal was fantastic. Would highly recommend.
We had a lovely meal to celebrate a family birthday. So tasty, beautifully presented, excellent friendly service, couldn't have been better.
I am going regularly with my partner to this amazing restaurant.Everything is fresh and tastes beautifully. The menu is one page but includes all kinds of tastes.A gem in Walthamstow village that many of the locals keep it for themselves!Good prices during the week as you can have starter and main (and believe me it's enough) for only £15!!!! I like the Village Kitchen. It’s tastier than Eat17, better value for money than Trattoria Ruga, far more special than Mondragone, friendlier than The Nag’s Head and less garlicky than Orford Saloon. I’m not saying that I don’t like all of those other places (apart from the Nag’s) but why it’s my favourite eatery in Walthamstow village. That wasn’t always the way – a few years ago, it didn’t seem to have got into its stride, but it definitely has now! And the service there is fantastic. More...

Went with our daughter, very family friendly will always go there,
I flew from Croatia to London to surprise my Valentine. Friends had booked us a table at this their local restaurant but I had no idea what to expect and hoped it would not be a disappointment. I need not have worried. The two front of house staff were superb. Attentive without being intrusive, good humoured and calm - despite being rushed off their feet. The food was well presented, delicious and very good value. Thanks go out to everyone at Village Kitchen - you helped make our night memorable. More...
My favourite restaurant. Never let's you down. Beautiful food and fantastic service. Always delightful xxxx
The Village isn't the BEST pub in Walthamstow, but I think it gets over-shadowed by The Nag's Head somewhat, which is seen as being far more 'trendy'.The Village is what it is, a decent local pub selling standard booze at standard prices with standard food. It has a decent enough beer garden, a nice little snug room at the back, and a really good quiz. It's way better than The Goose (although more expensive) and far friendlier than The Nag's Head (and cheaper!) Wow-ohmygoodness-yum! This was even nicer than my mum's Christmas dinners (don't any of you yelpers tell my mum!!) You can't really get higher praise than that!We spotted a sign for £11.50 roast dinners. There was a choice of different roasted meats accompanied by all the trimmings. (There was lamb, duck, pork belly, a veggy option...and a couple of other choices) Meat-joyMarc tried the pork belly while I munched my way through a duck's leg. The meat itself was cooked to perfection...the pork belly has a crunchy top, but inside was meat that just melted away. The duck was moist and fell off the bone.Veggy-joyI couldn't work out what spices they used on the carrots and parsnips I think there was honey and thyme, but it also had a warm spiciness, a little like mulled wine. There was broccoli and gorgeous slightly spicy cabbage along with garlic-flavoured roast potatoes that had crunchy skins but were fluffy on the inside. Omnomnom. To finish it all off, we were both given a huuuge Yorkshire pudding and plenty of gravy...although I did need to ask for a teeny bit more gravy - it was just so nice! As always, the staff were sweeties. The Village Kitchen really needs to be upgraded to 5 stars. More...
I walk past this place every morning with the dog I'm currently taking care of, and two times out of three I can't resist getting an egg roll. Not *that* kind of eggroll mind you, but a couple of tasty fried eggs on a brown roll with butter for less than two quid. It's cramped inside, so it's better for takeaway, but I saw a gent just yesterday with a proper full English breakfast sitting at the window. Decent java as well. More...

Great Value. Can't go wrong here Monday-Thursday, 2 courses for £12.50, and the food is great. The staff are attentive. Shame the other 2 VK restaurants closed in E4 and E18 but am thankful this remains. Keep up the good work More...
I LOVE IT!. I have been visiting the Village Kitchen fairly regularly since the beginning of the year (probably been about once a month) and have never had a bad experience. It is just up the road from me so it is a lovely treat to take a book and sit and relax while being looked after by Hannah, the ever wonderful waitress. On my first visit I was putting cracked pepper on my meal and she overheard the fact that the pepper grinder was almost empty and got me a fresh one. Now that's service above and beyond what you would receive in most places I suspect! The food has always been lovely, cooked just as requested, and there is no skimping on the servings. The menu has changed recently and they now offer kangaroo. It is good to see something so different and unexpected in one's local restaurant. The white chocolate cheesecake is to die for, and Hannah rustles up a fabulous Raspberry Bellini too. It is also lovely to be recognised when I walk in and greeted in such a friendly way. Hannah also knows I am there to relax and asks the kitchen not to rush my meal so I can enjoy myself (without my even having to ask). Terrific service. I recently took friends there on their final night in the UK after travelling around Europe for 3 months. After all their experiences, they reckoned their meal at the Village Kitchen was one of the best that they had had. Great value, highly recommended and I'll be back! More...

Went here for a meal on Saturday night and loved it. All three of us were really impressed with the selection and quality of the food (and if you'd met my mate Emma you'd know how hard she is to please). Had a very nice and reasonably priced couple of bottles of wine too. Service was great, really friendly. Would highly recommend it. More...
The food wasn't michelin star but was good. Friendly dudes serving and generous portions. Recommended
We have been here a few times now and have enjoyed our visits. The food is reliable - interesting enough for you to return - and the service is friendly (if sometimes, esp. on Saturday evenings, overstretched). Weekend lunchtimes are quieter. We have enjoyed some lovely, beautifully cooked steaks and fish here - not too dry, moist inside with a good seasoned outside. The beetroot and mushroom salad starter is very nice indeed - a sweet but tangy dressing really brings out the earthiness. Soups are generally good and sometimes even reach the heights of shining tasty things. Wines here are well chosen and suit the general standard. The cheese plate is hilarious though. I have never seen so many haphazardly arranged crackers. It was a veritable mountain. Still, it's good to end the night on a smile. More...
I was surprised how just pleasantly low key and informal this place is. The food is good honest un-mucked-about-with and the portions are generous. Will go back.
