Ragfinery has been lucky enough to have Vivaluxx sponsorship and support for three of our Runway Show fundraisers. Sarah Rorvig was amazing to work with as were all of her students! The level of creativity and professionalism was wonderful and the way they interacted with our staff and models went along way in calming pre-show jitters and helping everyone feel confident and beautiful. I have been attending this school for about 5 months. It has been one of the best few months of my life. Sarah is an amazing educator and gives excellent constructive criticism and actually helps you hands on instead of just showing you how to do it. Wow where do I start?! My story with Vivaluxx starts post high school- I was in college with an undecided major and was the most confused about what I wanted to do as a career. I had always had a passion for beauty, but was never encouraged to pursue it as a career, or told that was even possible. That alllll changed when I met Sarah. Within a couple weeks of hearing about the school and getting to watch Sarah work, I dropped out of college, moved home, and enrolled in Vivaluxx. Looking back, hands down best decision I could have made at the time. In my time at the school, I was taught so well learning everything from basic makeup applications, to crazy fun editorial makeup, to full blown body paint, and graduated feeling like I was ready to start my career in the industry. Sarah would drop anything to help with any struggles I had, and does still today months after graduating. She is still my number one resource when I have questions, or just need to tell a crazy makeup story too (: Not to mention she is one of the best makeup artists in the PNW-I always have something to learn from her. If you are looking for the most premier and professional school for makeup artistry, look no further than Vivaluxx. Sarah Rorvig has curated a stellar curriculum that extends beyond just learning "beauty looks". She teaches everything from makeup and color theory, theater makeup, decades makeup, skull candy, wedding glam, portrait/editorial makeup as well as body painting. Her in depth lessons also go into business licencing, contracts and the pitfalls to avoid if you are a freelance artist. Vivaluxx sets you up for success in the makeup artistry world, no matter where it may take you. You will learn from one of the best and experienced makeup artists in the Pacific Northwest, who allows her students to learn hands on, and encouraging instruction which fosters each student to develop and grow their individual style and skill. Sarah is such an amazing artist and professional. She totally saved me when a makeup artist scheduled to do my wedding makeup cancelled on me a month before the date. She was organized, flexible, and went out of her way to accommodate my crazy schedule. The results were stunning! She has incredible technique (she’s a painter too and it totally shows), taking the colors and look I envisioned, and making it reality. What’s even more amazing is I’ve seen her work on others and it’s so versatile- from super dramatic to soft and airy. We did a dark amber smoky eye for my engagement photos and then a soft natural look for the wedding. So different and both were beautiful. When I heard she opened a school, I was SO excited to volunteer as a model for her students. She totally brings the same enthusiasm and skill to her teaching that she does in her personal work. The facility was beautiful, her students were motivated, and their portfolios speak for themselves. Such amazing work! I kept hearing lovely things about Sarah and the Vivaluxx School of makeup so I decided to set up an appointment to have her do my makeup for an awards ceremony I was attending. I was pretty nervous because I don't wear a lot of makeup and wanted to make sure that I still looked natural.Sarah absolutely KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK. I felt like a goddess and got compliments all evening. I have oily skin and was worried about needing to touch things up...well, after 8 hours I still looked like I had just walked out of her chair! Had an absolutely amazing experience with Vivaluxx! I was looking to get some prices on hiring a makeup artist for a photo shoot that I was considering for my company and this company went wayyyyyy above and beyond what I was expecting to get. Not only did they provide top notch makeup work but they also had contacts with models and a photographers that they had worked with before and helped me every step of the way with setting up the shoot.The shoot turned out absolutely amazing by the way and the costs were competitive. "Where do I start?" , that is the question I asked myself. Flash back: I'm two years graduated from high school, stuck in the same routine and dead end job. Life seemed to have gotten in the way and I found myself without a purpose, yet the fire to make something out of myself still burned. To the internet I went, searching and reading and clicking away...And there it was "Vivaluxx: School Of Makeup Art". The light bulb above my head beamed bright, I had found my start! A quick application and a few emails later, I was in the studio with my mom signing enrollment forms. My first day of school came along and I knew I was in the right place. Vivaluxx became my home away from home. The studio was the perfect environment for creating- bright, uplifting, and welcoming. The students became my sort of makeup family, always sharing ideas and encouragement, it felt to amazing to be surrounded by people who had the same passions and interests as me! Sarah had multiple professionals from all different backgrounds into the studio for us to work with and learn from, which stemmed into connections we now had for after graduation. We learned about branding, marketing, networking, cleanliness, professionalism, and much more. During my time at Vivaluxx I was encouraged to let my creativity out and push my own boundaries. Sarah made me feel like I had something special and all my own to bring to the plate, and I thank her for that. I learned not only about makeup application and all that goes along with it, but also about myself as an artist and a person. Since graduating from Vivaluxx with distinction and receiving the Outstanding Achievement Award my makeup career has bloomed. I have worked along side countless photographers and models, traveled to lots of gorgeous venues, been a part of some spectacular weddings, opened a makeup booth at an aesthetician studio in Fairhaven, and met some amazing people from around the world! Sarah has been rooting for me since the beginning, from the first day I walked into Vivaluxx to today. My favorite part about being a Vivaluxx alumni is having Sarah as my career guru. I continue to go to her for any advice and she is there for me all the way, she has even scored me some awesome gigs! Attending Vivaluxx not only gives you experience, credibility, and a certification in makeup artistry, but a life long friend and cheerleader.
