Where do I even begin, I have followed David and his family's work since Gr.9. 12 years later, it was a dream come true to have them as my photographer/videographers. Today is actually my one month wedding anniversary and I had received the best gift today which were my wedding photos & videos. I was expecting to receive them a lot longer but they were so fast! Working with David and his family was the best! Their passion is reflected in their work and their working dynamic is so in sync that you know you are getting your memories captured from the best angles. The creativity they have as an artist and an eye for detail makes you so thankful to have chosen them to capture the little things that you often miss out on the wedding day. We originally saw your work at a friends wedding and instantly fell in love with how creative you are, and knew when it was our turn we wanted to have you guys on board . ...our turn had arrived and from the engagement pictures to our actual day your vibrant, fun , and creative personalities had us laughing and having a great time ! There are no words to express how thankful we are for everything you guys had done for us , you gave us a lifetime of memories to look back on and captured every emotion perfectly , our video had us laughing and crying tears of joy. I first worked with Ryan on a volunteer organization where he captured many memories for the group. He also did professional headshots which many still use today. It was from this volunteer experience that I knew I could trust him and his family to capture the right moments for me and my family's business. When my husband and I decided to get married, we both envisioned an intimate celebration of love to be witnessed by our closest family and friends. We did not want a conventional wedding, simply a day of love and enjoyment. Our plan was to even bypass a photographer, in hopes of keeping the day as effortless, streamlined and stress free as possible. We soon found that although most people were open to our unorthodox way of thinking and planning, the exclusion of a photographer is where people drew the line.
With some convincing, we decided to research a photographer that could capture our idea of the most significant day of our lives. With a little luck and help from our very good friend Shawn he recommended his friends David and Marianne of Visions by David. When we made the initial phone call, we were immediately taken with Marianne infectious energy and their desire to meet in person.

Our preliminary meeting started with a quick greeting followed by an immediate viewing of a video montage of weddings shot by Visions by David.
Instantly we were overcome with emotion as the beauty of each photo transcended from the screen into our hearts. In our search before meeting Marianne and David never did we come close to finding another photographer who could compare. The exquisite intimacy that a couple experiences on their wedding day and the interpretation by Visions by David was a level of photography that surpasses the rest. When the video ended, I whispered to my husband that this was the photographer I wanted and undoubtedly believed they would perfectly accomplish our goal to celebrate our love elegantly and in a distinctive manner.

Upon reconvening and finding out that our wedding date was available, only one question remained. As Gay couple we wanted to know if Visions by David had shot a gay wedding and how they felt about it. The enthusiasm that exploded with no hesitation let us know that we were in the company of people whose character embrace equality and celebrate all love. We are honoured to be the first same sex wedding for Visions by David. Words do not sufficiently describe how truly remarkable David, Marianne and their family are. Their support and guidance on the day of our wedding will forever be appreciated. They captured our wedding day better than we could have ever imagined; a direct result of their amazing abilities.

We want all potential couples to know how outstanding they are as people first and foremost, coupled with their incomparable talent and services. Visions by David have set the bar of photography that very few could ever come close to meeting.

We thank you for your exceptional service, creativity and imagination. We are privileged, grateful, humbled and forever thankful you were brought into our world and that we now can call you friends.

They were so good that we opened up our wedding speech by thanking them, acknowledging the greatness of their work, and most importantly, recognizing how wonderful they are as human beings.

We had the privilege of having our engagement shoot in New York City. To this day, Nina and I are blown away by how incredible these pictures turned out. The Visions by David team were always in control and captured a lot of "on the fly" pictures as we travelled between destination points. In addition to the flawless engagement pictures, Nina and I got to spend a lot of time with the family and got to know them better. It was during this trip where we created a friendship beyond the traditional "client and photographer" relationship. Amazing photographers and amazing people to be around.

VBD also created a video for us that we used as our grand entrance. Again, the craftsmanship and creativity of their work was out of this world. Nina and I did not even provide a complete track list to use for the video. We left it in the hands of the VDB team...and they delivered! I mention the music piece because I'm a DJ. I'm well aware of how the music selection in any type of setting can make it or break it!

Lastly, the photo's and video on our big day. Nina and I, and our families frequently look at them. It always brings us back to that special day, which is what they are suppose to do - capture the moment. It is because of VBD that Nina and I can look at the pictures and video and be reminded on how perfect and flawless our special day was.

To this day, we continue to keep in touch with David and the family. We are truly blessed to have met them and have them as a part of our wedding. Not only as the photographers, but as our friends.

I guess the last thing to write is - Yes, we would definitely recommend Visions by David :)

We are so greatful that we met David, Marianne and their entire family. They are a team of extremely talented photographers who exceeded all our expectations. Even though when we met them, we knew they would do an amazing job! They are extremely professional. Also, looking at their past work, you can see outstanding talent. We used them for our daughters bat Mitzvah and for a pre batmitzvah photo shoot.
David and his talented team took the most amazing pre bat mitzvah pictures of our daughter and family. They had great ideas on how to make the must unique and beautiful shots. We had such a fun time doing the photoshoot. Our daughter felt like a princess! It's a day we will never forget!
It's also so evident that David and his team has such a passion for their work. We just love that!
During the bat mitzvah, they captured the entire event. Every single small detail was photographed. After working so hard to put this event together, it's so important to have the right photographer who captures every single memory. We made the best choice. Hands down, the Lai family is the best team we could have chosen.
We also used them for a photo booth at the event. After going to many events, I have never seen a better photo booth with such amazing, cool props! And so nicely set up !
David and his team produced the nicest same day edit video of the photos from the event. It shows the highlights of the event so beautifully. It's such a treasure. We absolutely love it. We emailed it to all our friends who love it too and said they watched it over and over!
The Lai family are not only the most talented team, but such a pleasure to work with. They are so warm and kind, and fun to work with. They really make the whole experience an unforgettable memory.

David, Marianne, and there team of superstar kids really know how to get the best out of everyone on the big day. They are experienced, professional and a pleasure to have around throughout our big day capturing all of the big important moments, and capturing the things that I think most would overlook as well. They are really a fun bunch, and are certainly the real deal when it comes to getting the pictures you are looking for. I can't imagine having anyone else taking our photographs/ video on our big day.

Where do we begin with David and Marianne and their amazing family! It didn't take us too long to find the right photographers/videographers for our September 24 wedding since we found them right away! They were recommended to us by a family friend. The second they opened their doors to us we just clicked right away and we knew they would be the ones to capture every moment of our wedding! Not only are they very knowledgable and talented the whole family brings a fun energy with them which was very helpful for us as our wedding day was stressful. It was never a dull moment! Especially with the Lai kids!! They even joined us for the party too! Every shot they took from our engagement shoot photos to the wedding photos we were constantly impressed by the quality of their work. We hired David to be our photographer for our wedding held at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Toronto. My husband and I are very particular with our photos and we wanted a photographer whose work stands out from the rest. Most photographers nowadays use too much filters or photoshop every aspect of the photo making it too fake but David is the opposite. We were really happy to have found David Lai to do both our engagement and wedding pictures! His work is one of a kind and his photos are just magical and never dull. We remember meeting David and Marianne and their kids who are photographers as well for the first time and right away we were convinced that we have found the right photographer for us! Their outgoing and fun personality just made us feel comfortable around them and this helped a lot during our photoshoots. We also loved the fact that David and Marianne try to get to know each of the couple they work with making the photos more personal and original per couple. Love Visions by David! 4 years ago, when our daughter decided to get married she told me that she wanted to get a photographer that would meet her standard of capturing their special pictures. She checked out several photographers until she came across Visions by David Photography. Right away, she saw that their pictures are totally unique, and she knew that she wanted them to be the photographers for her wedding. And their engagement and wedding pictures are incredible! The Lai family are totally amazing, their family is such a great team, and wonderful people that are totally talented and know exactly how to capture those special moments. They don't take cookie cutter pictures, but they make each picture different and special. David and Marianne were absolutely incredible and patient to work with. They took their time in creating, what turned out to be the most memorable and treasured photos, we now possess. We thoroughly enjoyed doing the photo shoot for both our pre-wedding and wedding. At our intake meeting, we laughed, we cried and we booked VBD. They have always come through with amazing photos. They have a wide range of skills that really work well in any situation. Visions By David is a family run business which employs every member of their family, from David and Marianne to their now adult children; Ryan, Justin, Joel and Desiree. Each of them has their strengths, whether it be photography, video, editing or even a special knack for getting those rare shots from little kids that make family and friends say "awwww", and are an integral part in covering your day or event.I've long admired the work of Visions By David, but assumed that with their level of experience and time in the business that we'd never be able to afford their services when the day came for our special day. Still when it came time to begin having conversations with photographers for our destination wedding in PDC, Mexico we reached out to them anyway to see what, if anything was possible.Meeting with David and Marianne was like meeting with old friends right from the get go, David is the artist and Marianne his director (well sort of, but aren't all wives their husbands directors, haha). We felt super comfortable with them from the get go and when we expressed our concerns about budgets and the like, the told us not to worry and that they would work within our budgets and produce something extra special and memorable.We decided on a photo and video package for the wedding, and in addition to their fees we paid for the travel of 3 team members. While this might sound like a lot, having the team there 24/7 was great as most photographers you would hire for a wedding in Mexico as we found would charge nearly the same but for 4-5 hours of work on the day of - and you have no in person contact with them before arriving on location.They were true professionals, upon arrival they got to work, walking every square inch of the resort (and off) to find ideal locations and then measuring the lighting days in advance at different times of day so they knew exactly what sort of situations they would be dealing with and where would be best for us to get the best pictures.Where their experience showed was in helping us organize our day of photos so that we were able to maximize every instant and capture it all. They planned a full day where they were able to get the guys getting ready and having some fun while the ladies were getting their hair and make up done, then transferring over to the ladies and the eventual first look and group shots before the ceremony and reception.The benefit of having the team there is they all knew what to look for and if a hand or head was misplaced, or people weren't lining up properly you had not 1 but 4 sets of eyes calling details out to ensure every picture was picture perfect.In addition to our wedding, we also planned to do an offsite shoot at a cenote (naturally occurring cave with water in it). Because of their time in the business they knew who to talk to and where to go to ensure this experience was private, special and amazing.While the video does take a bit longer to get done, it should be arriving soon but if it's anything like the pictures we have (over 1000 awesome shots) I know we'll be able to relive the magic of our wedding day for years and years to come.Thank you to David, Marianne, Joel and Desi for helping make our wedding memorable! VisionsbyDavid is by far, the most talented, artistic photographers out there. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my special photos ! !! So many crap photographers out there, that think they are a photographer cause they bought a camera. They have no CLUE how a camera really works, let alone, adding that artistic special touch to the photo. Changing a photo to black and white, doesn't make it artsy, lol !!! David, Marianne, and the entire Lai family were the photographers and videographers for our wedding back in April 2016. For over a year, my husband Mark and I planned our wedding and it was during that time that we got the opportunity to know the Lai family. I initially met them at a bridal show in Toronto and instantly got along with Marianne and her sons (Ryan, Justin, and Joel). They were very fun, down-to-earth, and just easy to get along with and laugh with. I knew right away that I wanted to have them do our wedding, not only because they were a great bunch to be around, but because their photos and videos from previous weddings I'd seen were just top notch and spectacular. I remember when my husband and I saw a clip of a wedding video they had just done (before choosing to go with them for our wedding), and we both teared watching it, we knew that we had to book them pronto! My husband Mark and I could only imagine what our wedding photos and video could be and we were not disappointed! Both our engagement and wedding photos turned out beautifully. We have received so many wonderful compliments on the pictures so far (we still have to show everyone the video, but a video date for family and friends is coming!). What we loved so much was the vision they had while they took these gorgeous shots of Mark and I. They call their business, "Visions By David," and we could definitely see why. Places where you wouldn't think would be much of a place to shoot, the family would see something and make magic with it! Mark and I would suggest having the Lai family be your wedding photographers AND videographers. You must get a wedding video done by them. We never thought about getting one ourselves, but we are glad we did! Mark and I recently watched our wedding video for the first time and it got us quite emotional. What a wonderful memento to have. Thank you Marianne for highly suggesting getting a wedding video, it was the best decision we made.
