Great bakery with authentic goods.  Their tomato pie tastes like home outside of Philly.  I never thought I'd find any on North Carolina but this does not disappoint!!

Utica has been on my list of places to try for a while so I'm glad I finally had the opportunity to check them out! I had contacted the establishment to place an order the week before pick up and they had a timely response. I ordered a tomato pie and assortment of cookies to take to work. My friends/colleagues from Philly were so happy to find that a place in the RDU area sells tomato pies!!! Everything we tried was delicious! I hope to try more of their other menu items in the future. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. More...

I've been wanting to try Utica Bakery for a while now and finally make the trip over last Saturday. The dessert trailer was easy to find and there were plenty of signs clearly marking where to turn if you weren't using your GPS. I'm from New England and am always on the hunt for some good Italian pastries which you can't seem to find much of in NC. Seriously, it is so hard to find a good cannoli! I liked how they displayed all their tasty treats behind glass so you could easily figure out what you wanted to order. My husband and I went for three of their stuffed rolls and a sampling of desserts. The pepperoni roll was my favorite and something I would definitely get again. The sausage and ham rolls were good, but for me pepperoni reigned supreme. On to the sweet treats! They unfortunately left one of my cookies out of the box, but the lemon drop cookie was awesome. Just what you would want in this classic Italian treat. I also thoroughly enjoyed the cannoli. It was definitely the closest to what I'm use to up North that I have been able to find in the South. I have literally been craving a lobster tail for years and their flaky delicious lobster tail layers did not disappoint. They have different fillings you can chose for the lobster tail. I asked what the traditional filling was (since that is what I was craving), turns out it is pastry cream mixed with whipped cream, I went that route! You could also get a chocolate hazelnut filling which also sounded delicious. My husband went with the cheesecake with blueberry compote. The cheesecake was good, but the amount of blueberry compote they include on the side was way too tiny. I know they have a different name for it here, but I wish they sold their part pizza in strips, not just by the half pan. I would have loved to try out a slice for lunch, but didn't need more than that. For those of you not from up North, party pizza is as the name implies a birthday party staple. It's pizza dough with sweetened tomato sauce and that's it. No melted cheese so it's perfect for a party since it doesn't rely on temperature. I look forward to heading out here again when I'm craving some tasty Italian baked goods! More...

This spot is truly a gem. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. The chocolate hazelnut cream puff was amazing. The pastry was so light & crispy. And the filling, OMG! Silky, chocolate hazelnut perfection! More...

Best cannolis I've had since I left upstate NY!  Every one of our treats was attractive and delicious.  I will definitely drive from the next county over again to visit!

I am from Richmond which is known for being a foodie town and picky about giving five star reviews. I can tell you if there was another star to give I would because everything was beyond perfect. To start it was a little hard to find the location but well worth the search. I ordered half moon (black and white) cookies, all three different types of cannolis, and the cheesecake. The cookies had a light and buttery taste with sharp hints of flavors to include vanilla and mint. Each edge of the cookie had a perfect texture and the butter cream frosting made it unique from the typical and it was able to standout compared to the typical New York cookie. The cheesecake had layer after layer of taste the made me feel I was eating a cross between traditional and Italian cheesecake. Finally the cannolis has the perfect snap and flavor balance in every bite. The best thing for me is that nothing felt heavy and I honestly felt like my cheat day wasn't a cheat day. I don't know how he or she did but it's hard to have so much flavor, texture, taste, and desserts that don't make you feel heavy or fat but everything I had was perfect. More...

Honestly the best dessert I have had since moving from up North and they are the nicest people you will ever meet.  The cannolis are delicious and when I was there last week I tried the raspberry bar and a bar called hello dolly, both were so good!  This is my go to bakery in Apex and I'm so happy that they are doing so well!! Love love love this little bakery. Their pastries are amazing but even better is their customer service.  They help you pick out something perfect and suggest delicious combinations of fillings that they will make to order quickly while you stand there. I really haven't found anything comparable since moving to the Apex/Cary area. More...

This little bakery on wheels may be tiny but it is mighty! Whether you're in the mood for a quiche, cookies, or an eclair larger than your hand (seriously, I've seen burritos smaller than this) freshly weighted with the filling of your choosing, Utica Bakery is likely to have it, and if you're looking for a traditional New York classic like a half moon cookie, Italian bread, or pastries like a lobster tail, the selection is also near-overwhelming considering the constraints of the space. All the baked goods both sweet and savory are delightful and if something is unfamiliar to you but looks tasty, give it a try - you're very unlikely to be disappointed! The staff happily offer suggestions or answer questions and they'll have your order out in far less time than it usually takes people to decide on what to get in the first place. Roll on up to this mobile bakery and discover the delights! More...

I used to visit my grandparents who lived in Utica when I was little so I'm accustomed to what it all tasted like and this place brings memories back to my tastebuds. The tomato pie is fantastic and the half moons are as well. If you need a legit Italian bakery and if you are from upstate ny you aren't going to leave here disappointed. Great job and thanks for bringing such great food down south! More...

Can I just tell you how much I love their pastries?!?!? We tried them for my birthday a month ago and we've been back every weekend since. The lobster tails are fresh and the filling options, Oh the options available, could I just have them in a bottle? The first two times we got the custard, I've never had a good experience with the cannoli cream so I didn't even consider it an option.  Utica Bakery thank you for showing me the error of my ways, I tried the cannoli cream and I'm a convert! It's light, creamy and with a hint of citrus. Oh and you also have to try the Baba with the cannoli cream!! The rum soaked pastry is out of this world. I can't wait to try all the others! More...

If you grew up near Utica and all of the great Italian-American bakeries, and you looking for some nostalgia...without wanting to drive 10-hours to get it, this place will bring you back and be a great conversation-maker for your friends.  You can introduce them to half moons, tomato pie, pepperoni bread, and pusties(pasticioti)   My favorites were the lobster tail with custard, tomato pie, and the vanilla pusties.    For the first timer---go with cannoli and the lobster tail.  For Utica favs--tomato pie and pusties.   photos attached. Great little bakery on wheels serving up Italian pastries and cookies! Given how hard it is to find Italian sweets, I am so thankful to have Utica Bakery available. While it's located a bit far away from me in Apex, I think it's worth a special trip. My first visit resulted in a large tomato pie (focaccia with crushed tomatoes, parmesan) along with a great lobster tail pastry filled with cannoli cream. Both are quite good and a deal for the price. So not only do you get good pastries, you don't have to over-pay at Utica Bakery. Service was super efficient and friendly, they've got things figured out and from what I understand you can order ahead (email-phone) and pick it up when ready. More...

Most authentic NY style Italian bakery in the Triangle! Grew up near Little Italy & have been searching for these pastries for a long time. Like all the others have said, most authentic Italian bakery in the Triangle. You really can't compete with the quality. It's small and easy to miss as it's built into a home but that means nothing. They are the real deal. So thankful that something so genuine has opened up in Apex, which is increasingly becoming like the rest of the cookie cutter triangle. Support this business by all means possible. Do not leave without a lobster tail filled with cannoli cream. More...

After hearing great reviews from friends, we stopped by yesterday and picked up a box of assorted cookies and pastries and everything was delicious. The young man who helped us was very sweet and informative and the prices were reasonable. Our daughter loved her lobster tail and they give you a choice of 3 types of cream to fill them with - a custard, a pastry cream and my favorite - cannoli cream. We will be back next weekend. :-) More...

I don’t even know where to start. Everything I have tried is amazing. Finally there is a true Italian bakery here in the area. I no longer have to ask my brother to bring us stuff when he comes to visit from NYC. The lobster tails are to die for and all the variety of cookies are sure to please everyone in your group. I love the Almond paste, cannoli and butterball cookies just to name a few. I also grabbed a tomato pie for the family to try and it was a hit. Honestly you can’t go wrong with anything you choose. My Mother and I just went here this morning and what can I say, I got transported back to my childhood days in the North End of Boston MA. As soon as we walked in the smells wafting through air were exceptional, we knew this would be pure gold! The half moons brought me right back to wonderful memories of delicious buttercream and fudge. (dare I say it was actually better than those memories, haha!) There were so many great things to choose from it was difficult to pick any one scrumptious treat. It was hard to find. The sign is small and the place looks like a house. Actually, it probably is their house and business combo. Nevertheless, glad we found it. The owner is great. Everything is fresh and homemade. We bought pizza dough, pizza shell, cookies and an eclair. This is filled at the time of order. You have three options: whipped cream, cannoli cream or Bavarian cream. The owner insisted we sample all three. Yummy, so good. Looking forward to our next visit! More...

Absolutely fantastic! I have high standards when it comes to bakeries, and Utica amazingly lives up to these -- the only bakery I have been to outside of NY. Finding good NY style pastries in NC is virtually impossible until now. Utica bakery is a small,  family run business based out of what looks like a house (with a fountain)  hidden away in Apex.  They offer all your favorites: lobster tails,  cannoli,  cream puffs,  black and white/ half moons, Italian cookies,  crumb cake, bread,  cheesecake and occasionally the elusive rainbow cookie.  Recently they started offering tomato pie. Follow them on Facebook for giveaways where you can pick up a box of goodies. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They have limited hours being only open on Friday - Sunday. Worth the trip! The best cream puffs we have ever tasted! The photos are misleading though. Utica bakery consists of a small counter space with all of their delicious cookies on display and the warm bread on the rack behind the nice people helping us. We recently tried this bakery and it was really good. I haven't been able to find a Cannoli stuffed lobster tail (It is an Italian pastry and not a shellfish) anywhere here since moving in 2012. It is my favorite dessert and it was great. My husband had his favorite, a Cannoli stuffed baba, and liked it also. So far so good on everything we tried.
