What makes UFI is Paul and his amazing staff. Not only are they the most educated and informed staff that I have known, they are are extremely well-trained and observant. Each workout is tailored to my needs---not only long term but in the short term, as well.

Paul has trained his staff to reflect his high standards of excellence. Not only do they get you to push yourself farther than you thought possible, but they do it with safety and professionalism. I started with Paul in early October of 2017 after surgery and both he and his team were aware of my concerns and worked around my injury in such a way that I recovered more quickly and holistically.

As a final note, Paul has also modeled a high degree of professionalism in his staff. They are on time, prepared, and are NEVER on their phones. When they work with you, they are focused on you.

Utah Fitness Institute has strengthened my body, changed my outlook, and improved my health.

Full disclosure, I am writing this review as a trainer who works in this facility as a contractor. I run my own business and have worked in other gyms.

I enjoy working at this facility because it is a calm nonthreatening setting. I have enjoyed developing friendships with the other trainers and my clients here.

I recommend this facility to other trainers who want to bring their business here.

I've been a member now for two months. I'm getting healthier and stronger. Paul tailor fits each session to you. He listens to any concerns and will alter the plan as needed. He has a good group of trainers. I'm in the gym at the same time as others and I see the dedication of each of his trainers as they work one on one with their clients. If you are looking for a gym that will allow you to get lost in the crowd then go somewhere else because at UFI you are the only thing your trainer focuses on. Your progress will be measured at regular intervals to ensure that you are always improving. I love this gym.

I have been training with Paul for about two months now, and I’ve had a great experience working with him. He is very knowledgeable, and he designs effective, motivating, and (dare I say) fun workouts! While my progress has been slow and steady (that is what I want), I am seeing results—not only in how I look, but in my energy levels and overall wellness, as well as my flexibility and how I’m able to move.

While Paul lets me go at my own pace, he is encouraging and makes sure to give me a workout that is going to push me but also doesn’t overdo it—he motivates me to keep coming back and working hard. He tailors his training to each client based on his or her needs, and I feel he’s designing safe and effective workouts every time I come for a session. I would highly recommend him, whatever your personal training needs may be.

Paul has a PhD in exercise physiology. He and Parker put me on an exercise today plan which works much better than my previous start tomorrow plan. I've had steady progress with no injuries, a problem when I followed my own plan in the past. Total weight down 34 lbs, and up 5 lbs of lean weight. Very pleased !!!

Paul has been training me for 5 months now. Without any exercise routine in my background, I have had a real aversion to starting one. But wanting more stamina and strength, I sought out a personal trainer on Thumbtack. Per my request, Paul has eased me into a weight-training program that continues to build my physique. He set up an individualized plan that tailors the workout to my targeted goals. Workouts are well balanced on different muscle groups and Paul’s training approach is a good combination of encouragement and drive. I’ve never felt overwhelmed or I would have quit. Paul is punctual for appointments and consistent in his demeanor and his training methods. Because of his Ph. D in the subject areas, Paul has the educational knowledge to answer and advise on questions of nutrition and exercise. I’ve gained inches in targeted areas when I didn’t think it was possible, which leads me to believe I can achieve even more. Glad to have found Paul and the UFI team.

Aside: After seeing my results my spouse began training with Paul and is equally pleased.

How do you help your clients achieve their fitness goals?

We base our training on our client's specific goals. Based on those goals we use our knowledge of physiology, anatomy, kinesiology and scientifically sound programming principles to develop a program for the client, then execute that program in a sensible manner. We try to progress clients at a reasonable, but challenging pace.

What’s the secret to getting the body of your dreams?

Consistency in training is the key. That and watching what you eat! I don't recommend cheat days.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the interaction with the clients as well as seeing them achieve their goals.

What inspired you to start your own business?

Actually, I fell into it while in graduate school. It kept growing so I continued to develop it into what it is today. It's been great so far.

Why should our clients choose you?

Most clients choose us because they are looking for a highly educated trainer who knows proper technique, training theory and sound programming and execution. Most of our clients come to us from other clients. We have also developed a sound reputation within the medical community in SLC. As a result we have a number of physicians who send patients to us and train with us themselves.
