We've used Rob Speight and Urbane Architects twice over the last 10 years. Once to do a ground floor extension and refurbishment and then once to do a loft and first floor extension. On both occasions Rob was clear and responsive in communication and thoughtful and adaptable in design. We certainly wouldn't have used Urbane a second time if they had not done a good job the first time round (and we did encounter problems with some of our contractors first time). Recommended. More...

Urbane Design Architects are a wonderful team to work with. Over the course of 18 months they supported us with feasibility, planning permission, tendering the job, building control approval and contract administration with the builder. Together we carried out a major renovation including a basement, ground floor and 1st floor rear extension. Robert Speight & his team were incredibly responsive throughout, producing exciting and effective designs with lots of detail.I would have no hesitation in recommending Urbane Design Architects to my family & friends, they were a great pleasure to deal with throughout. Most definitely 5 stars! We had a great experience with Urbane Design Architects and their team when we recently extended and reconfigured the ground floor of our Georgian terraced house in Chiswick W4. Robert Speight was our project architect. He listened to our brief but then made us consider some alternative, exciting ways of thinking about the spaces and materials. He combined his experience of local planning policies, working relationships with local suppliers and our budget to deliver a new home that we are in love with! When we were going through planning permissions and the tender process, the team walked us through all the requirements step by step with us, which was great. We used Urbane Design to help us get our Coach House in W4 from a 2 bedroom to a 3 bedroom house with the aid of a roof lift to achieve adequite headroom in the loft space. This was always going to be challenging with regards to planning consent; we were told by other architects that the council would not allow a change in pitch height and they didnt believe that it would get planning consent. Robert Speight from Ubane design had a different attiude towards this from the start and attended 3 pre-planning meetings with me to make sure the council were happy before we submitted our plans. Planning consent was achieved by the aid of some good design changes by Rob to over come issues such as over looking neighbouring properties. Once planning was achieved, Rob helped us with finding a builder that could take on this project. He gave us the details of builders that he had worked with previously but also suggested that we get quote from a building company of our own choice so that we could compare all quotes. We decided to go with one of Robs suggested builders. They have done a fanastic job from start to finish and I believe this is partly due to the weekly site meeting's that Rob arranged to discuss work completed and work to be done. Urbane Design Architects took our newly acquired and very run down house in Bedford ParK , chiswick from planning through to completion. They were recommended to us by a friend who lives on the street who had worked with them on her house. We used them to obtain listed building consent, planning permission, to produce the very detailed construction drawings and to manage the project on site. We used a builder they recommended and found this working relation very successfully. The architect explained clearly what was required at each stage of the project which was very usefull. He described it as adding layers of information as the project developed. This became clearer as the project developed. We are very happy with our new home and highly recommend them. They communicate well which I have learnt is the key to a successfully delivered project. More...

We used Urbane Design Architects to renovate our house in mayfair. They were very good with westminster and dealing with our free holders Grosvenor Estates. We had previously worked with another architect who we fell out with over design issues. Our architect from Urbane Design really understood our brief and requirements. They were very hands on during the construction period making the project run very smoothly with our builder. The end result was a very modern but sensitive design. They kept the original features that had character on our georgian house and blended them with interesting glass light wells that now flood the house with beautiful natural light. We particularly loved the design for the doors. They are full height and frameless. This really adds a wow factor as some of the rooms are 4meters in height! More...
