My basement bathroom sink backs up with a little water when the washing machine is draining. Mr. Google says check our sewer line so I search for sewer contractors and read comments and ratings on BBB. Having worked in insurance for 30+ years, I know all about water damage claims and contractors so I am always cautious. I called Jeff F********** of Urban Waterworks because he was local and not a franchisee. We had the trenchless system in mind as our sewer line is 64 years old! Jeff came, explained that to find the clog or damaged pipe, he had to use his camera through the cleanout; the only problem was he could not find the cleanout. So instead of the costly exploratory by breaking open the tiled walls, he suggested to install a cleanout system outside the house and gave us his price. However, dealing with this old house was more complicated than he thought. First dig, he ran into old oil pipes. Second dig, he ran into a real big boulder two meters wide and a meter high while digging. Yep, finding the lateral was not that easy! It was confusing even with all the gadgets he had. Finally, the lateral was found right under the gas pipes! Watching Jeff worked was truly a wonder. He clearly loved his job and had perseverance galore. Though the job took longer way over than expected, there was no change on the quoted price. There were some few casualties among my flowers and but the lawn essentially remained clean; the pavers neatly put back in place. Yes, we do recommend Jeff of UrbanWaterworks. BTW, the camera revealed the entire old clay pipe system is still sound and relatively clean for its age so Jeff advised there was no need to spend money for a costly trenchless replacement. Our experience with Jeff and Urban Water Works is an example of what good business is. We have an old 1937 house which required some much-needed attention. ... leakage into a below-ground basement coming from the wall? the floor? where It was one of those situations.... we worked together with Jeff following a process to determine what would be best. Through my R&M experience, these types of things never go 100% the way we would like, but it's how the situations are handled and responded to which is what has most value for me. We didn't have perfect luck on our first try, but Jeff was great in making sure he did whatever necessary and what he could ASAP. We have since resolved our leak issues. Being a business-owner myself, i know how things go in the 'real world', and particularly for things like drainage on old buildings, it can be a crap shoot. How you respond, work together and trust the people you work with to find solutions is what I appreciate most in any vendor/contractor. Thank you Jeff for your help! More...

Waking up to puddles on the boulevard one Saturday morning was not a good sign, especially in the middle of a heat wave at the end of May. Upon having the water shut off immediately from the City, we contacted Jeff. Jeff and his company came highly recommended. We made arrangements for Jeff to come and look at the problem and then decided on a day for a new water line to be installed. Jeff was kind, patient and caring. The job was completed in less than a day. He even took the time to show the high quality product that was being used. Jeff preserved the integrity of the lawn by covering it with tarps. Upon completion the trench was barely noticeable. Jeff even took the time to come back the next day to put down some extra grass seed and fertilizer. We are happy to say the area of the lawn where the trench was dug is greener and healthier than before the work was started.
