From the states and dropped in to roll with their morning class. Coach Sebastian was there and had a great time. The guys were very welcoming and felt like I was at my home gym. If you are traveling and want a great gym to visit this would be it. OSS More...

So it's been a year since arriving at urban warriors and can say what a fantastic decision it was to sign up! A very unique atmosphere, great characters and real steely hard work classes. Coaches are top of the range and who genuinely care for your development. Our BJJ coach Martin foot is a legit black belt under Dickie Martin at Carlson Gracie London - He is the absolute in what he does, a real pleasure and honor. This is not your average gym, if you're looking to develop yourself as a person and skill as a martial artist; or even a health enthusiast then this is your place. Urban warriors has a culture of respect and integrity which makes the training all the more meaningful to everyone. Alice the receptionist is an absolute bundle of joy who will assist you with all your needs, no one does it better! More...

I've been training at UWA for almost 18months now. It's without doubt the best gym I've ever trained at. The coaches are top notch, providing expert tuition as well as support in spades. Working in groups really helps to stay motivated, members are all friendly and there to help each other work - no egos, just enthusiasm and support.

They make a real effort to make the gym more of a club and a family than just another gym. Duncan the owner has a number of times opened up his home for BBQs and get togethers. While many places claim to foster a 'club spirit' UWA is the first place I've been that actually does it.

Oh and the receptionist is alright....I guess

I had my free trial class yesterday with James practicing Filipino boxing which I would highly recommend to anybody looking to develop their skillset especially in the boxing and wrestling disciplines. The boxing aspect also has a range of movements you wouldnt practice in a regular boxing class which gives a lot more variation when sparring. We then went on to practice knife defence techniques in the Filipino stickfighting class which was an eye opener but gave a realistic perspective of how to deal with different attacks and all taught at a good pace for the group. Been meaning to write this review for ages. I trained at Urban Warriors for about 18 months and can safely say it was the best gym I'd ever been to. Really excellent coaching all round. In particular, a big shout-out to Martin Foot - the BJJ coach - whose fantastic teaching has crafted a seriously competitive team now! The atmosphere in his lessons is so fun/friendly and the guys and girls that train there couldn't be more welcoming! I moved away a few months ago so had to cancel my membership, but have carried on with the BJJ and intend to do so indefinitely now.

Overall the gym has such a family-feel to it with everyone looking out for each other. And it's really nice that the gym-owner Duncan is around loads making sure that everything is running smoothly and taking suggestions from the coaches/members themselves. If you're anywhere near Vauxhall make sure you check Urban Warriors out!

Friendly, effective, etc. What can I say. They make sure each person is learning, and no one gets left behind. Had my first Krav Maga class today, and can't wait for the next one.

Visited the BJJ class when I was in London last weekend, and was really impressed. The instructor had a great sense of humour and was also really informative. Everyone in the class was friendly and I am definitely going to return again if I am visiting. More...

I came down to urban warriors a year ago to try out a few of the different classes they had on offer. My trial class was bjj with Martin Foot and after that lesson I signed up to the club immediately! Martin is an excellent, friendly teacher and after my first few lessons in bjj I really enjoyed the sport and have been going regularly ever since. More...

Came for my free trial class in Krav Maga this evening. Very impressed. Friendly patrons and trainers. Lad on the front desk was helpful. Left knackered and sore! Having not been to martial arts for a few years, the trainer took time to pair me up with someone to help me get up to speed. Overall highly recommended. Signing up for full membership this week. Love this place. Been a member here for just over a year now, and it's quickly become a second home. Love that it feels like a solid community of people to train with. All the coaches know how to push you beyond your mental and physical barriers. Doing the boxing, Krav and BJJ classes and each one is excellent in a different way. Highly recommend! More...

I've been doing the BJJ with Martin and the Filipino Boxing with James for collectively almost a year now. I have not only improved on my skills in these martial arts but also my all round strength and body posture has improved dramatically, helping me feel more confident both inside and outside of the gym. The coaches, training partners and Alice made me feel welcome from day 1 and my free trial class quickly became an all inclusive membership and I have not looked back since. I'm looking forward to progressing further in these martial arts and hopefully trying some of the other ones they have to offer! More...

The gym has a great atmosphere; everyone comes to work hard, so the energy flows well. This is initiated by the inspiring and instructive coaching staff, and manifests in friendly, supportive student behaviour. Learning is a symbiotic process at UWA.

I have to give special mention to BJJ and Martin Foot, our coach, a Carlson Gracie London black belt. He is an amazing teacher, mentor and friend. His Jiu-Jitsu and philosophy have really inspired my journey, both on and off the matt. As for BJJ, it is a beautiful game, technical, explosive, savage and addictive. It will harden you mentally and physically.

We’ve had seminars from big names in British BJJ and Judo such as Dickie Martin, Alain Pozo and Glenn Spiers.

You’ll meet friendly, strong, inspiring people, like Szabi, a man hell bent on your physical perfection. Always full of jokes and laughter, but don’t let that fool you. His strength & conditioning sessions are gruelling, empowering and top class. He wants to make you cry ;)

The UWA staff: Duncan, Andy, James and of course Alice (A.K.A. Superwoman), have provided us all with an amazing space to grow, physically and mentally. The gym has a social side too, hosting summer BBQs and Christmas parties for members, friends and family.

As you might guess, I thoroughly recommend this gym. It’s been a home to me for a long time now. It could be for you too. OOooossss.

I have been coming to UWA regularly for over a year and a half now, training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Strength & Conditioning, and am absolutely hooked. The classes are excellent, with top quality coaches who come from very reputable backgrounds; Our BJJ coach is a black belt under Dickie Martin at Carlson Gracie London.

Everyone who trains here is incredible friendly and welcoming, which makes every class great fun...there's also a lot of talent on the mats which is incredibly valuable as our competition team grows and we look to push ourselves.
