Obviously the most important part of a barbershop is the quality of the cut, so let me start off by saying that these guys are the real deal. Best haircut I've ever gotten. For the past several years I've been wasting my time getting some hack jobs. If your going to a shop that offers bargain haircuts, yeah It's a couple dollars cheaper, but absolutely not worth it. I went to Urban Stylez after seeing some great reviews on Yelp, and the reviewers weren't wrong. These guys treat their customers with the utmost care and precision when cutting hair. If you don't have an appointment (which you're able to make everyday) then you might be waiting for a short while, but it's because the barbers won't rush a cut just to get the line moving along. It's about quality to these guys, which is a great thing to see. The atmosphere is very cool too, very clean and no loud annoying music blasting. The barbers have style and so does the shop itself. When planning a recent trip to Orlando, all I really wanted to do was hit up a good barber shop... That was my absolute number one priority! I have been growing my beard for a few months (#beardgang) and my hair was getting out of control since I don't really have a good regular shop in my area anymore.

I've been following Charlie on Instagram for a while and knew Urban Stylez was a legit, credible shop where the barbers took what they do for a living seriously. I started digging around at reviews on Yelp and on Facebook because I wasn't sure who I wanted to book with... I saw a lot of really positive reviews about Shalimar, and she had an opening that gave me just enough time to go straight from the Sanford airport to the barber shop. It was meant to be! The fact that I was able to book online played another really important factor in me picking this barber shop, by the way. I use the same scheduling software with my photography business. My local shop that I used to go to doesn't take anything but walk-in's, which is really frustrating when I'm busy. I loved being able to make an appointment!

Anyway, we got to Urban Stylez with a few minutes to spare and circled the block. We found a parking lot behind the building, and headed in. I convinced my buddy to get his hair cut as well, since he's never really been to a legitimate barber shop... He was a Great Clips customer and had no idea what he was missing. We were greeted when we walked in and there was an open chair, so he was able to get started right away. I found Shalimar, who was with her current appointment, and sat down to wait. She finished up right on time, and got started with me, and the rest is history. I've had great hair cuts before, don't get me wrong, but I've never felt so good about getting a hair cut before. She was careful and gentle, but I thought she was really precise and really seemed to take her time and be thorough, which I really appreciate... One thing I can't stand about barber shops is feeling rushed or having someone half ass so they can move on to the next person; Again, that's the whole reason behind scheduling to begin with. This barber shop understands! If you only take walk-in's, you're losing money--and honestly, you might be losing customers. I got a nice mid-fade, beard trim and shape, straight razor shave, the towel treatment, and even a massage. I don't remember the last time I felt so good, honestly! I love the hair cut, I love the attention to detail, I love the atmosphere and music in the shop, and I love how all of the barbers seemed to carry themselves professionally. I'm really happy for Charlie to have such a strong team representing the brand, and based on all of the cuts that I saw everyone getting around me, it seems like they've really picked all-star barbers instead of whoever wanted to pay $X to rent a chair in a shop like so many other shops. There's a lot of talent there, and there are three other locations that I'm sure are full of equally talented barbers.

I know this is maybe a little more lengthy of a review than most people will care to read, but I just wanted to express that I was really more than pleased with Urban Stylez and I've literally been trying to plan my next trip to Orlando--primarily for another hair cut. Last night I was taken here and met Uli. He made my hair look great. I told him do what you want and he definitely surpassed any expectations I could ever have. If you want a proper cut he's the man. The whole vibe here was great. I spent most of my time laughing and they made you feel so comfortable there. Okay I know my first review was negative, but I went back and my experience was a complete 180! I spoke to Charlie the owner and he told me to go with the presidential package. He set me up with James who took really good care of me! The presidential service is $40 and includes a facial, a shave, and a haircut. This was so worth it! It was an hour and a half of indulgence! James took good care of me offering advice on my hair and giving me the best shave I've ever received! This was a straight razor towel shave that included a facial and a massage! Yes I got three hit towels on my face and after each one was put on my face a face massage was performed with their machine. They also ran the steamer the whole time during my shave! It was truly the hour of luxury I needed! You guys have to check them out and do the presidential service! One thing to note is you have to reserve the presidential on their website. You can also choose James as your barber! If you havent done it yet do it now! I know I will be a monthly customer at this barber shop for sure! More...
