I can't say enough about how wonderful this guy was at our event last night. We had a double birthday with my 89 yr old grandma and my 41 yr old husband. It was definitely a challenge to play music for everyone but Goyo made sure to pick hits to get everyone dancing. My daughter and niece loved giving him requests and he was so well mannered and accommodating. And so cool that he has such a huge collection of vinyl. Amazing Wedding DJ!We hired DJ Goyo to play at our wedding and wow did we make the right choice. He had everyone, even my reluctant relatives, up on the dance floor busting a move. The music was expertly timed and made sure to hit a little something for everyone. My husband and I gave DJ Goyo some direction, but he really put a solid playlist together. I would highly recommend DJ Goyo! I had him DJ my wedding last night and he was very attentive to my wants and needs. I'm a pretty laid back person, and I was definitely a laid back bride. Because of this, I only had an outline of what I wanted and only a few song requests. DJ Goyo filled in the rest with great music and he kept the evening moving along smoothly. DJ Goyo is simply the coolest!  Recommended by our event coordinator, we were thrilled to have easily discovered a wedding DJ who has a true love of music, for vinyl, and is a consummate professional.  His passion for his work clearly shows.  After learning our musical tastes, he excitedly shared the records he pulled just for us.  Throughout our wedding day and night, he provided ambient music during the cocktail reception and seated dinner, microphones for speeches, and created a lively disco dance experience we will never forget.  Without needing any extra handholding or direction, he expertly moved the party along with announcements and perfectly timed music cues. I think one of our favorite moments was our last dance, with only our immediate family still on the premises, dancing privately to "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed.  We were so happy and full of love. We had DJ Goyo run the music for out wedding and it was a great success!  My wife and I planned the whole wedding ourselves without a wedding coordinator, leaving us little time to meet vendors.  We were able to coordinate everything via email with DJ Goyo and had a few phone calls to iron out all the details.  He was very self sufficient as he brought all of his own equipment and was able to coordinate with the caterer in regards to timing of announcements.  He also brought vinyl records, which is harder to find these days but sounds much better than any other form of music (in my opinion).  All in all a great experience with an experienced dj. Hired DJ Goyo for our wedding reception two weeks ago and bottom line, would I hire him again?  Yes, absolutely.  It was very unnerving choosing a DJ based on Yelp reviews, and I talked to several, both from the big companies and self-employed DJ's, but I really got a good feeling about this one and went with him.   He was very responsive with emails, and everything was just so easy and smooth, he proved to be as reliable, kind, genuine and overall awesome as he appears.   You can tell he really enjoys what he does and gets in on the excitement.    The sound system was great and yes, the vinyl was really cool.  This was a same-sex wedding and he really catered to the audience, but not in an obnoxious stereotypical way (except for the few specific requests from us!), and everyone, both straight and gay, had a blast on the dance floor.   We got so many comments from people on how much fun they had dancing - success!!  We had some requests that were probably a bit unusual and he was very accommodating.  I think I became a little demanding during the dancing (sorry!), but he was so nice and chill and just went with it.   He was a pleasure to work with.  One piece of advice after reading the other reviews:  help him to help you.  You both have the same goal, to have an amazing event.  You can just let him do his thing and he'll be fine, but if you have specific requests, like if you are having him announce wedding party names, give phonetic spellings and just be very specific about how you want things done, don't assume he can read your mind.   If you have specific songs, either verify he has them in advance or bring them on an ipod or CD that he can throw into his mix easily.  Thanks DJ, hope to see you at some of our friends events in the future, I know a lot of them are interested! If you're planning a wedding and want a great DJ who knows how to get a mixed crowd dancing, hire DJ Goyo! Why he's awesome:1) Professional: communicative, on-time, no drama. Planning a wedding is stressful enough, you want to hire someone who knows how to run a business as well as provide the tunes. DJ Goyo (Greg) knows how to do this.2) Knows how to mix both "background" music for cocktail hour as well as fun music for the dance floor. Lots of DJs are good at one or the other, but DJ Goyo is great at both.3) Gets your guests dancing! Many weddings are a mix of people: grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from various parts of your life. He knows how to play music that gets everybody dancing without being cheesy. Seriously. We had to *extend* our reception by an hour because nobody wanted to stop dancing! That is the highest compliment possible. He's also very friendly. Lots of guests were fascinated to see that he was playing with real vinyl records and went up to have a chat with him. He would pull out other records and put on tunes by special request - everything from Dirty Dancing soundtrack to Brazilian beats. Hired DJ GOYO for our outdoor wedding ceremony & reception.  He was prompt, professional and has the most amazing record collections!  We were so pleased with his mixes and worked with us to include our special selections when we wanted them.  Great equipment and did I mention the vinyls?  Also has CDs and can use mp3 or Apple products to play special requests.  Good times, Man!!!  Thank you!! This review is long overdue. We got married in September 2011 and being a guy I thought finding an awesome DJ would be the least of our worries, but it wasn't. We met with quite a few lame DJs that had a "wedding mix" that was "guaranteed" to keep the party going. Since our first meeting with Goyo we felt at ease. He spun some vinyl for us at his studio. He has an extensive selection, picking up stuff from his travels as well as locally. He also listened to what we were interested in. On the big day he showed up on time, set up without a hitch, and even brought an assistant to help handle the records. He was a great MC, talking just enough, and kept the party going all night long. 4 months later everyone still says it was the most fun wedding they attended in 2011 and DJ Goyo made it happen. I have been meaning to write this review forever. Our wedding was in August and it could not have been more fun in part due to DJ Goyo. He played what we wanted and added so much that we didn't think of. He felt the crowd perfectly. The only think I would suggest is going over how to pronounce everyone's name if you are having a wedding and he's introducing people. If you want someone who really knows and loves music and can read the crowd he is well worth the reasonable price- probably more! More...

We just got married in August 2011. We were looking for a great wedding DJ. We got an AMAZING DJ. We had a feeling we found someone great when we first met with DJ Goyo at his studio space, which was jam-packed with vinyl -- nothing but vinyl. We knew he was serious when he was spinning $800 first-pressing Blue Note Jazz records, and all he said, in a matter-of-fact manner, was "hey, they were meant to be played." He listened to our requests and no plays list (i.e., nothing featuring Pitbull or Neyo), and got EVERYONE on the dance floor. He was so professional and so competent. All our guests loved the music and loved the fact that he was spinning vinyl, and only vinyl, with the exception of one mash-up we had personally requested. We would recommend DJ Goyo in a heartbeat, and wish we could have another dance party just to have him work his magic. More...

We wanted a cool dance-party vibe for our wedding and that is exactly what DJ Goyo provided. We didn't really have to tell him much. My (now) husband spoke with him back in December about the style of the wedding and the music that we generally like and that we wanted people to have a  good time and really didn't have much contact since (we were very busy) and it went off beautifully. He had a good feel for the crowd. He played a mix of music that was all danceable and not at all cheesy. My parents danced! I've never seen them fast dance before. Ever! We had a great experience for our Wedding in the Brazilian room! DJ Goyo was the type of DJ who knows when to be a presence and when to let people enjoy! He definitely is not your cheesy wedding DJ! We had him play during cocktail hour as well and it was great - live music with the Harpist was just perfect! I think the only tip I have for others it to make sure that they direct the placement a little bit closer to where people may gather after the ceremony, since the live music is not as loud as you may think! But for our small wedding it was great! The music he spun during dinner was awesome, jazz music and tons of real records which is definitely a plus for anyone who is into music will enjoy coming up to his table and checking out the records. I also had an iPod Touch with a playlist for First Dance, Special Dance music, etc, so that really helped to ensure we got every song we wanted played to be played! DJ Goyo rocked our wedding!  He played bass and drum, along with Eah on the harp and Nicole on clarinet & saxophone for the jazz wedding procession (which they learned for our wedding) and it was gorgeous and spot-on.  During the cocktail party they performed a range of music including Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Gershwin, as well as funky latin tunes such as Blue Bossa and Latin Rhythm.Goyo then started spinning his vinyl and got everyone moving on the dancefloor - EVERYONE!  It was great.  Many of us entirely missed dessert because we didn't leave the dancefloor until the music was at it's end.  My husband and I were so happy with the music that we commissioned DJ Goyo to make us a soundtrack from the music he played during the day.  I would highly recommend DJ Goyo for any event and am scheming when we might have him to our next celebration.  Couldn't be happier! DJ Goyo was the DJ for my SF wedding.  We choose him initially because what he offered was very unique - a lot of vinyl, original records, and an option to add on a harpist he knows with him playing a stand-up base - all at a reasonable price. So, the harpist Eah and DJ Goyo did live music for our ceremony.  Eah was great to work with, meeting with us beforehand and playing different options for the ceremony music, and even offered songs she had written herself.  After the ceremony, we were supposed to have live music also for the happy hour, but because the room was pretty loud with conversation, DJ Goyo consulted with my husband and decided to play recorded music for the happy hour, and instead the harpist stayed on late so they could play live music for dinner instead.  After dinner, DJ Goyo did a great job selecting fun dance music - getting both parents and young kids out on the dance floor for the whole night! Phenomenal would not adequately describe the talents of DJ Goyo. He just DJ'd our wedding along the sonoma coast and was perfect. He's got all of the high quality equipment you need and more plus he spins VINYL!! So cool.The PA /wireless mic for our ceremony all seemless...he had a colleague whom we hired (Christopher Kilday) whom was a fantastic spanish guitarist for the precession/recession and cocktail hour playing whom was equally talented and terrific).Where DJ Goyo really shined however was the dance factory he created after our cake cutting.Perfect mixes of new and old-school had everyone hopping all night long. Very responsive throughout the whole process... I cannot be more thankful for having such a great professional on what was easily the most fun I have ever had at a wedding. Let me begin by saying that my husband and I were completely disorganized planning our wedding and really needed vendors we could trust and put all our faith into. DJ Goyo and Eah were awesome! We ended up giving him our first dance song and requests about an hour before the wedding. He wasn't breaking a sweat at all. Everyone loved both the live music and the dance music he played and he did a great job of adding a lot of special touches to the event. Everyone loved that he set the record case of what he was playing on the stand for everyone to see. He created a perfect moment on the dance floor when he asked everyone to gather around my husband and I while we all danced and sang. It was hilarious to see my father (who doesn't dance) in the middle of a dance circle jamming out. It was a the perfect night and I definitely think a big part of it was due to our choice of DJ. DJ Goyo DJ'd my wife's birthday party and really got the dance floor moving.  His encyclopedic knowledge of music from all over the world gives him the ability to feel into the crowd and give them exactly what they want.  He is fun, friendly, and efficient: he brings the speakers, the tables, the turntables, and he plays real vinyl!  He swept in and out and left me free to enjoy the party.  It's easy to tell he can be the life of the party, and he certainly brought our party to life. DJ Goyo was my DJ and musician at my wedding last August  - and from start to finish was exactly what we wanted.  He and his partner Eah played stand up bass, drums and harp during the ceremony.  It was beautiful and unique.  They both sat down with us prior to the wedding to consult about what we wanted before, during and after the ceremony.  I was very specific with my requests, giving him a list of names to announce and going over the program and timeline - which is important so that everyone involved in the wedding is on the same page.  And he knew my obscure venue really well (San Francisco Theological Seminary) and was very helpful as a consultant about setup, lighting etc.He and Eah pulled everything off perfectly.  Goyo kept the program running on time and also made the day fun and and unique.  He did a great job of playing the Armenian music we had given him for traditional dancing; he played specific requests like Thievery Corporation and the Beastie Boys; and he was really outstanding at playing cool, interesting music that set an ambient vibe during cocktail hour or got the party started on the dance floor.  Most of all, I knew I had scored when my relatives were happy with the Armenian dancing and when my hipper-than-thou LA-scene friend said "This guy is really good.  Where did you find him?"If you want a top-40, stuffy DJ, he's probably not your guy.  If  you want laid back, fun and unique, DJ Goyo is it. I still haven't hired DJ Goyo for any gigs yet myself, but I've been to several parties that he's played and I wanted to let everyone know what a bad-ass DJ he is. I hear he does weddings and huge parties in clubs, but I've always heard him at friend's houses or at one-time warehouse parties.The last time I heard DJ Goyo play was at my buddy's mid-summer housewarming party. During the BBQing, DJ Goyo had the stereo set on auto with some ambient and chill music while people were talking and playing games - and drinking beer. ;-) But once the sun set, he got behind the turntables and really started to tear it up. The dance floor was in a garage (kinda cramped) but we were all like Mexican Jumping beans, constantly bumping into each other because the music was so tight, we just couldn't help ourselves. I thought he did a great job responding to the crowd and keeping our energy high.As I drove home that night, still covered in sweat, I could hear Goyo's beats bumping in my head. More...
