Just a quick review to say thankyou so much for all your hard work on our extension. It had a terrible leak from the roof that caused many years of mold, damp and pure trouble. I'm very embarrassed to admit that I was badly ripped off by a tradesman who is now registered on 'mybuilder'. Thankfully Upkeep Contractors was recommended to me and I cannot speak highly enough of David.
He knows his trade inside out and has very high standards for his work - and will not leave a customer dissatisfied. He has corrected the sub-standard work which was done without any care or consideration by the previous tradesman and has gone above and beyond what I could have expected. I have no hesitation in recommending David and his company Upkeep Contractors. If you want a guaranteed job you can trust, by an honest and hardworking tradesman call David. He has fixed and renewed a roof, fixed what should have been a new cavity wall, fixed and refitted a new kitchen, fitted out a shower room, laid tiled flooring in bathroom and kitchen, provided storage cupboards, fitted lintels above windows, plastering, repositioned a doorway etc etc.
I will be contacting David again as the front and back gardens need to be done - clearing/paving and lawn laid. I wouldn't take a chance on anyone else.

I recently called upkeep from a recommendation from a friend who used this contractors . David was very honest from the start and was the quote I choose from the start. The work was done to a very high standard and kept clean everyday. David is very knowledgeable and a good craftsmen. How can someone tell if their Garage is suitable for conversion?
You need a 2.2 head height minimum the best way to get 100% accurate advice is to get a survey done to give you a list of the works to make it suitable to live in.

First you need to get a change of use application. Then you can install windows, more insulation to bring the u value up to spec, possibly a new roof or add a sky light, a new door, a new floor, reinforced foundations, electrics and plumbing, plastering, painting. This kind of project can be simple or complex depending on how and what condition the garage is in before work starts.
How can someone tell if their loft is suitable for conversion?
Get a survey done to see what the local authorities want to achieve to allow work to progress.

There is many stages involved. Stage:1 planning stage:2 clear out the loft space do your first fix utilities install new steel beams to lay new floor joists and lay gable floor.stage:3 remove necropsy tiles and rafters and install steel ridge beams if needed.stage:4 replace any rafters needed usually updated for conversions or quadruple up the sides to build a dormer shell.stage5: weather proof the outside in desired materials and roof.stage:6 now you can board and insulate and plaster then 2nd fix utilities.stage:7 cut a hole for the new stairs and install your new access not forgetting this will need a fire door and fire escapes usually velux windows or normal dormer windows. Job done. all loft conversions very in price a complexity remember this.
