What fun we had sharing the performances of these 6 gifted improv artists. 12 retirement mavens weathered the gum wall access path but settled in to enjoy a full hour of laughter. We will return. Of course we would welcome a hand rail along the way down from Pike, but that's not the responsibility of Unexpected Productions More...
We've been here a few times for date night and usually love it!! "Theatresports" is a great show to attend on a Friday night. Most of the time it's a hit, but if it's a miss, it isn't a total loss. They have 7pm and a 10:30pm shows, to fit anyone's schedule!Get here a few minutes early to find parking and grab a drink before. There is a bar here, but we prefer to go to the late show so we can visit Zig Zag down the market before :)Definitely make plans to come by an improv show here to shake things up for your date night. It's a great time! More...
Always a good time to see an improv show.I highly recommend their Saturday night 10:30 show called "Theater sports" to people who are new to improv. It's their signature show with witty fun games. For more veteran viewers, the weekend 8:30 shows are themed towards a longer format. And for the pros, I would recommend the Harold on Thursdays. My face hurts from laughing so hard!
Great place to watch some quality improv. Definitely recommend if you're looking for some late night laughs!
Don't go here if you don't like to laugh.
Ignite talks and other events here are a great time. Friendly staff.

Hilarious show and comfortable venue.
What a blast for a late night laugh! Check them out. Infuse your night with laughter.
Pretty funny, good drinks, great actors, and had a blast with my friends. You'll enjoy it too. Came allá the way from Cali just to see then!
Great show! We were a group of 19 and couldn't stop laughing! Thanks for a fun Seattle experience.
I completely admire the difficulty of having to be funny on the spot- they do it well!
Def recommenced! Great drinks and very entertaining cast!
This place is great. The drinks are pretty decent, and the staff are very nice and polite. The bar tender is a great conversationalist and remembers her clientele even after long periods of time
Easy walk up theater for improv. Close to a few bars to grab drinks ahead.
Great time, cheap, and entertaining!!
Hilarious comedy troupe in a great spot. Really do an amazing job integrating audience participation and previous skits to weave everything together with very funny results.
Hilarious off the cuff moments compiled with audience participation.
It was a one and a half hour performance. The artists are really talented and humourous.Like the name suggests, they improvise based on clues from audience in real time. Really amazing.
Hilarious. Great, interactive, accepting. Kind and funny people. The shows never get boring, they aren't afraid to make fun of themselves and I never leave without a laugh. I've been going almost every week now and I can't get enough. Also great prices! More...
Love the quick wit of those guys. Had a great time!!
More fun than a barrel full of monkeys!
Great spot for an hour laughter featuring local talent and organic material.
Talented crew performing in a historic theater in the heart of Pike Place at the gum wall! Enjoy dinner along the water and then prepare to laugh all night... A 'Seattle Skyrise(?)' is a delicious, infused-bourbon signature drink created by one of the friendly, enthusiastic bartenders. This improv troupe is much larger than the one in my hometown and they perform long and short form... the best feelings are had there! supporting and fun environment!
Such a great performance. Quality Improv.
Always a blast!
Visiting from Houston. Really funny and engaging show.
Clever shows, good for all ages
Great show! Easy to find and plenty of parking in the Pike Place Garage, $5 flat parking after 5 pm.
Great creativity, participation, performers, price. we will go again.
Great, casual friendly atmosphere. Very affordable!
I had a great time
I would rate this 3.6 stars to be entirely precise. The troupe was talented. However, IMO it was obvious that the women who was picked out of the crowd was pre-chosen (suggestions maybe too). Either that or she came up with some of the best on the spot dance moves I have ever seen. I also think it went on a little long and would be better suited as an hour rather than an hour and a half. The show had some highlights for me. In the version I saw, there was a section called "thrilled". It told the story of two Amazon factory workers who were miserable but feel in love and found their rhythm with the monotony of the job. The one guy reminds me of " Dave Grohl" in the "Best Of Me" video (you'll know who I'm talking about if you go).Refreshing for the most part. Nice to see something different. More...
I can remember going here for late-night shows back when we were in college… Like 20 years ago! We were in town for the weekend, with some friends, and figured it was time to go back and see what things are like. It remains as it was and as enjoyable as we remember. The place is located about a third of the way down Post Alley on the left-hand side. It’s basically intermingled with the gum wall. You enter into the lobby, or there’s a ramp up to the entrance into the auditorium, as well as a spot to buy some snacks.Snack selection is not bad, and surprisingly things weren’t all that expensive. The auditorium holds roughly 100 people, and they have a number of shows each night. We’ve always found improv to be a little hit and miss, but overall this place has been good every time we’ve been here. Sometimes have been more memorable than others, but we always leave having left plenty. It’s a relatively inexpensive evening as well. It’s never more than $10 or $15 for the show, and at times they will let you come to the show after the one you purchased, for free.A great excuse to go see some local folks that are way more talented than most of us will ever be! Very good show and funny very interactive with the crowd
Hidden gem in pikes place!
This was a fantastic experience! The improv group were great, concessions are actually reasonably priced, and the facility is wonderfully charming. My friend and I got in for half price thanks to a coupon code provided by nearby Piroshky Piroshky. The hardest part was finding the location: from Pike Place & 1st Ave, look to the left of the green Information kiosk for a street that goes downhill/underground beneath a “Market Theater” sign; go down there. Follow the road around to the left in front of Ghost Alley Espresso, and the Market Theatre, where Unexpected Productions puts on the show, will be the second door on your left. That's where you want to be, at least as of April 2019. More...
My friends and I have been coming to UP shows for years now, they always do a fantastic job!

Super fun thing to do on a weekend without plans!
Very fun. Will be back soon
Everything about this venue was on point. The staff were friendly, I got a generous pour on my drink, the bathrooms were clean, and the seats were comfortable.I saw the Mouth Wide Shut silent improv show, and it was clever and very funny. I will come here again! More...
Theatresports is hilarious!
Went for there Saturday night Improv Challenge and that it was absolutely amazing and for the price I will definitely be going again real soon!
Went to a show on vacation as a suggestion from a local. Best decision I've made in a whim! Such a good show.had an amazing cast, kept me laughing the entire time. Would love to go again!
Good sound quality for such a relatively small performance space.
Had a fun night watching improv on a Saturday night while in town visiting friends and worth the $15 spent. Highly recommended!WARNING: If you decide to drink prior to coming here, you may find yourself walking through a dark "ghost alley" at night under pikes place market, where sticky items attached to the walls may be more than happy to find a new home on your shirt (AKA GUM WALL)...This was the first time I've ever been to an improv show and I was definitely entertained. I had no clue what to expect and didn't know how imrpov shows worked, I just came in with an open mind and enjoyed every minute of it! This particular show I saw had multiple teams battling out throughout the night with their skits and what made it more entertaining was that they got the audience involved as well and gave out prizes. I don't want to spoil too much, but I would recommend to think of ideas to spit out to them and you will enjoy what may come out from it!Definitely something to check out! More...
Great show all around, this place became one of my favorite comedy clubs in Washington.
Loads of laughs and fun!
Comedy is great. Workers are amazing, snacks are delicious! Reasonable price!

Intimate space, food and drinks there are minimal selection but reasonably priced. Cotton Gin improv group was great!
Best place for a date. Always memories and good times. Cheap drinks. Personable actors who you can chat with at the end. Excited for whatever I get.
Awesome spot to come check out, grab a beer, and enjoy an interesting improv show for the low price of $10 for an hour of people putting on a brand new production every single night. Best part is that they are open rain or shine. Went on a cold Saturday night after it had snowed for a couple inches and as many shops to museums closed their doors and cancelled shows, they carried on delivering an unforgettable performance and extremely funny laughs. The audience suggestions and participation were absolutely amazing and really added an interactive theme to the entire production which was the best part. More...
Unexpected Productions is a MUST see whether you're a local or a tourist. It's such a fun show! I went a few years ago and stayed for like three shows back to back because of how much fun it was. I recently went to their Saturday show of Theatersports from 10:30 - 12 and it was so fun. They take suggestions from the audience and really make it an interactive experience. They took my suggestions a few times and I even got pulled up on stage this time. It was sooo fun! They've got a ton of other shows following other themes but Theatersports is personally my favorite since the actors are on teams against each other and being judged by a panel. They've got small snacks for purchase plus a "full" bar. They don't have a ton of selection but they've got beer, wine, and a nice assortment of liquor but not a ton.The tickets to the show are literally only $15. You HAVE to go. More...
My boyfriend and I celebrated Valentine's Day here with the annual "Comedy of Love." It was hilarious and engaging. The performers did an awesome job of involving the audience. I would highly recommend Unexpected Productions to locals and tourists! It's in the heart of downtown and is sure to give you a laugh. It won't disappoint! Since it is Improv, there are some scenes/games funnier than others but in my opinion that's just how improv rolls. Super fun time here!! More...
Monthly Sing It Seattle - all ages coming together learning a dynamic song lead by very talented folks who also do improvisation songs from ideas from the audience.
I've never been to a show with 0 downtime. These guys (and girls) are simply genius and quick on their feet. If you're even thinking about thinking about going, just go!
I live in San Francisco, ce to Seattle for tourism. My husband got us tickets for the puppy show and I had no expectations. The show was amazing. We laughed the whole time. Creative and funny crew. We love it:!!! Definitely check it out!!! More...

We go often?. These folks are some of the funniest.
This was an absolute stellar development, if you had any brains at all, you would definitely attempt to try it for all your worth.....
The performers were excellent, made a fantastic show with minimal prompts. Ludicrous good fun!
What could be better than a great evening with superb improvisationists? We'll not only go back for more (each and every show is truly unique), but will definitely take some of their improv classes as well. Prices were fair, and even drink prices were lower than what I've seen at other clubs. More...
Great NYE show. Funny scenes, great improvisation. Even with crazy suggestions from the audience, the performers kept the acts mostly clean and family friendly. I noticed that there were several teenagers with their families in the audience this year (last year, I think it was 21+ for the NYE show). They did a good job of checking ID, I giving wristbands, and checking wristbands at the bar before serving drinks during the show.me The champagne was served freely with bottles passed around the audience for anyone to pour their own glasses (or drink from the bottle) once it got close to the midnight countdown, which was perhaps not the best plan with minors in the audience. More...
Hilarious! Staff was helpful and friendly. Bar was decent.
Good for a casual chill comedy evening. No pressure, fun.
Unexpected Productions is the real thing: professional improv. I've been to probably dozens of their shows and taken a few of their classes, and it's been one of my favorite parts of life in Seattle.
Personalized and funny
Bottom Line: This is a must do! Great start to the evening, bar inside, drinks allowed in the show. The entrance is at the Gum Wall, tickets are 15$ cheaper for military and student. Fair assortment of drinks and a cozy lobby to wait in if you're early. Giant 8' by 15' chalk wall free to draw. Restrooms look as though they are shared with the staff and customers, very clean. Theater style seats with cup holders in a short stage auditorium. Excellent improv show. If you haven't been to an improv show before you may think it will be an awkward experience. It will be at some points. The performers are making it up on the spot and the show will be nothing short of an impressive orchestration of unique minds. After the show the performers mingle in the lobby. Well worth the time money and effort to get to the venue.#improv More...
The show was fantastic, so funny! Wasnt sure what to expect. But they blew us away!
I've come here a couple times, once on Friday and another on Wednesday for their duos night. It's not a huge stage so it's very imitate and everyone seems to know each other. The improv here is great! Some acts are definitely better than others but it's all in good fun. And things are just funnier when you've already had a couple drinks. They do serve alcohol here which range from $7 to $9 or so. Unfortunately when I asked for water they directed me to the concession stand for bottled water which was a little disappointing. For as little as $5 you can have some good entertainment laughing at some jokes for a couple hours. Not a bad deal! More...

Cotton Gin improv show was terrific! Some ridiculous and funny and ridiculously funny stuff!
Love this theater and crew, their school and teachers, and their supportive community. Their shows are reasonably priced and are among the most underrated entertainment in town.
Went to the Theatresports Improv Comedy, the 10.30 PM show and very much enjoyed my time. I highly recommend it.
I go here a lot with my friends for their Theatersports shows. It's hilarious, well priced, and the bar makes a good drink as well. They used to do another show called The Cotton Gin which was absolutely hysterical. My boyfriend and I used to watch it all the time. Each show is totally unique because it's all improv and unlike other improv shows I'm seen it's actually funny, not weird or boring. This place has been around for decades now and hopefully it stays around for many more. More...

One of my favorite shows in Seattle!! Guaranteed laughs, great audience members, EXTREMELY talented cast. Wish I could give 6 stars!
Hilarious! Great audience interactions and fantastic acting. Will definitely go back!
Loved Improvised Chechov! Great show and venue!
Loved (An Improvised) Christmas Carol. Highly recommend it during the holiday season. Have also always enjoyed other improv shows I've seen here! Great fun!
Great theater for a casual show

THIS WAS SO GOOD. We went to one of the Friday night shows, and it didn't disappoint! Totally worth the $12 for tickets, and we were honestly laughing the entire show for literally every act. We saw an Improvised Christmas Carol again this year. I continue to be impressed with the actors weaving in audience suggestions to make the show funny & one-of-a-kind. The audience does get credit for coming up with hysterical suggestions to make the show unique. The theatre is historic in an old, quaint kind of way. All the staff have been friendly and helpful. This place is hilarious. Great date night activity and you can pass by the GUM WALL on the way. Two birds, one stone. Worth the money and you're sure to leave with a smile.
The area's rich history is woven into accounts of mass violence, cons, and hauntings. Keep an eye out for Arthur, the dapper ghost, in Pike's arcade.
Hilarious team at the happy hour show. Very interactive. It was pretty family friendly too. A way better use of your money than seeing a movie, in my opinion.
It would be nice if once they officially open the doors if seating were also available. Standing in line for 20 minutes to wait to walk into an empty theater seems disorganized at best. Even if the folks putting on the show are still setting up shouldn't be a reason to not allow seating. More...
Hilarious! They were on point and all around good folks!
Great intimate venue. They seem to be really drawing on creativity for the shows they put on. Great job!
Wow the show is wow
This place is always a good time! Everything is very decently priced and the shows are hilarious. High energy. Location is definitely cool as well. Would recommend. :)

I LOVE theater. And improv theatre is kind of its own universe in the theatre world. The unexpected productions Improv Theatre is located at the historic Pike Place Market and offers a small variety of programs - but who needs hundreds of different shows when every single show is so unique thanks to the talented improv artists on stage and a different audience each time? Be prepared to be part of the show, don't be shy and have fun! More...
Always a great time and cheap too!
I went in not knowing what to expect, but it turns out that's not necessary. The people here really know what they're doing, and the humor doesn't rely on anything cheap.
First time was okay. Second time was hilarious.
The shows are always hilarious, the staff lovely, and the drinks cheap. Add in a quirky brick theatre hidden in an alley, and you couldn't ask for more in a comedy joint.
I have only great things to say about this company! First, their shows are really funny! I went to an improv Happy hour, which is just one hour of improv games! (think whose line is it anyway). The tickets are $10 and the drinks are around $5-$7. The theater is actually quite large and can sit probably 100ish people. The performers are fun, witty, easy to hear, and super respectful too! The music is great (and made up) and the whole experience is just so much fun!If you're ever interested in trying out improv, Unexpected Productions also has improv classes that you can take! They're 8 week classes that take place at their school (in SODO/Georgetown), and the classes are really fun, welcoming, and tight-knit at about 15 people per class. The classes are great for getting out of your comfort zone, meeting new people, and just having fun once a week! I never imagined having so much fun, but going to the classes are definitely the highlight of my week. Amazing company that does nothing but entertain! Definitely check them out as an audience member, student, or both! More...
Always great shows. 5 days a week.
Great location!! Cool history! A surprising little-big place! Good clean and creative humor, sure beats a traditional comedy club ANY DAY! I love how many shows there are and at a reasonable price too!I gave it a 4 because one of the shows we watched was a bit disappointing when one skit, a very strange monologue type one, took up 45 minutes of the entire show.. it unfortunately wasn’t all that funny after so long. Unexpected Productions Theater Sports has always been one of my favorite improv shows in the PNW. I was a little nervous bringing my daughter for the first time since it had been18 years since my last show....and amazingly they still delivered all these years later. Great place to see a show!
What a show! We stumbled on this place as locals in our own neighborhood. Impressed is an understatement. We laughed out butts off! The super cheap drinks and fresh popcorn were a bonus. No drink minimum and a casual, friendly atmosphere. The comedians all met the audience afterward which is always a fun way to end a show. Being able to thank them for the laughs makes a really personal and unique experience. Highly recommended as a great way to spend an evening. Omg, so many laughs! We came for the happy hour improv which was so well done, great inclusion from audience participation and we stayed for the 4 Hearts play. Wow! We threw them a curve with the audience ideas and it was beautiful. The actors were so great and stayed in character so well I was tearing up with the emotions they brought. We really wanted to see it continue. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening More...
Saw "Cotton Gin" last night for the first time. What an awesome show! Probably the best improv I've ever seen. I loved the unbridled limits to creativity that the puppets seemed to afford. So much fun! Great place for a date night or when you want to have a great laugh! This place is a hidden gem!!
Being a comedy fan who previously lived in NYC, standup comedy was always better than Improv but after moving to Seattle, I can't say that's true! Unexpected Productions is entertaining, funny, energetic, and truly unexpected. After my first show (Theater Sports) I started visiting this place more than the standup comedy clubs. The drinks are cheap, the show was the perfect length, and I liked that they gave you an intermission in the middle. More...

UP is highly underrated and/or not well-known enough! These improv comedians and actors put on great shows every week, year round! Entertaining improv shows and fun improv classes! I took Improv 101 with Unexpected Productions (their class is in Georgetown) and as a student, I got a free pass to watch all their improv shows. I really enjoyed the class - small class with about 15 students, and our instructor Luke was great. Initially, it was a little awkward to do those improv games in front of everybody, but after a couple classes, I felt much better and our instructor did a great job making sure everybody felt comfortable in a safe, respectful environment. I also enjoyed their shows a lot with my free student pass. It was entertaining, funny, and actors/actresses are very energetic. More...
Tonight was the 4th time to see Cotton Gin . It doesn't seem possible but it gets funnier every time! Who knew a psycho rabbit and an Elmo-esque puppet with a peanut allergy could be so funny. My husband and I went out with another couple and we had a blast! The show was funny, snappy and just the right length. The crowd was extremely diverse and for a rowdy group having fun they were well behaved. I enjoyed the champagne, the hats, the balloons and many other entertaining toys to help set the mood. The overall experience was celebratory without have too huge a crowd (not a million people.) The theater was sold out. I highly recommend this event as kid friendly as well. Not many venues allow adult drinking but make it possible to bring kids ( probably 11 or so.) NOT babies, definitely. It got pretty loud. Recommended!! More...
We went to the New Years show last night and it was the best time ever. The cast was hilarious, drinks were affordable, and just an all around great time. I will definitely be coming back here More...
Fun premise and audience participation. Good product. Fun. Drinks reasonable. Great way to spend an evening
I went to the Hip HO HO Hopera-Yuletide Remix and it was so much fun! My boyfriend and I really enjoyed the show. The group was witty, funny and had great chemistry. I look forward to attending another show by this group! Definitely recommend! More...
In our #TeamGumball travels around the one of first things we look for is a taste of the local flavor or essence and I feel like this was pure Seattle. Never would think to go to an Improv Comedy Theatre but boy are we glad we did, we had a great time! We laughed so hard and loved the cast, special thanks to them for being so gracious and taking a picture with us. #SupportLocal#SupporttheArts #TeamGumballApproved More...
My girlfriends and I spent a weekend in Seattle in December and while looking for "holiday" things to do I stumbled upon this company's improve A Christmas Carol. We really didn't know what to expect but figured we would give it a try and I am SO glad we did! We seriously did not stop laughing. The cast and crew were fun, hilarious, and it was family friendly which was cool. The tickets sold out and we were advised to show up at 8 even though we had tickets and there was already a line of at least 75 people! They get folks in pretty quickly though and the wait was fun, it's in post alley where the gum wall is....FUN FACT the gum wall actually started because of the patrons of Unexpected Productions. They wold stick their gum there while waiting to get in. There is a nice little bar with affordable drinks and a little concession stand with popcorn etc. also reasonably priced. I checked in on YELP and got a free popcorn! If you are on the fence about the holiday production don't be! It's an affordable and fun night out for everyone!! More...
Went to the improvised Scrooge and had a great time. It was a full house and a wonderful end to a day of Christmas lights and market in Seattle! Lots of laughs from the audience suggestions to the storyline. It was pretty amazing how the audience could give suggestions and the cast was able to implement them right away into the scenes. Well done and very enjoyable! We will certainly visit the theater again when visiting "the big city!" More...
Saw the improvised Christmas Carol show on Saturday. Highly recommend. The cast did a fantastic job and the entire show was really entertaining

Fun times at A(n Improvised) Christmas Carol with a group of friends last night! It was my first time in this theater, a hidden gem of Seattle! The improv troupe kept us entertained all night long with lots of laughs and audience participation. Thank you! More...
We really enjoyed An Improvised Christmas Carol. It was funny and well worth the drive to Seattle. What we appreciated most was in the very beginning, they called for audience participation to stay politics free. As a result, we got a whole night off from all the negativity and nastiness out there. It was good fun for everyone to enjoy. Thank you! More...
This review is just for an improvised Christmas Carol. I was really impressed with the ability of the cast to be able to take audience suggestions in such a short time to create a story out of them. I would definitely suggest to bring the whole family here for a fun night or a unique date night. They have beer, wine, and regular popcorn as well as candy. More...
It was my first time at a show, and let me tell ya, this is probably the single most greatest thing in Seattle. You'll have to see it to believe it.
My husband and I went to opening night of An Improvised Christmas Carol. The smallish theater was packed as the show was sold out. The audience participated in the plot of the show, which added to the enjoyment. The actors, lighting specialist, and live music made the show very special. I highly recommend making this show and theater part of your holiday tradition! More...
This place was a lot of fun! I have never went before they had cheap drinks and the show was really good and funny. I would definitely go again they had a great special for popcorn and candy also. Not a ton of people but not to few either good job guys. More...
awesome place, awesome crew and would DEFINATLY come back.
Really great Halloween show. It was a perfect low-key and inexpensive thing to do while my wife and I were in Seattle for business.
My boyfriend and I stopped in for the Seattle Theatersports 10:30pm show and I am so happy we did so. Absolutely, laugh out loud, hilarious. I wish I remembered the name of all the improv artists we had the pleasure of watching. It was the best time - I highly suggest going if you are in the area! More...
My boyfriend and I were travelling to Seattle for a few days and decided to catch a show. The one we went to had three standup comics, and improv in between. it was a lot of fun, even though we did get picked on a little! More...
We had a great time at the improv show! If you are in seattle it is a great fun evening!!!!
Great show. I saw piggy back(improv and stand up) on a Sunday night. The improvisers and stand up comics are funny and lovely to talk to afterwards. Highly recommended!
Though there's a lot of great options for entertainment in Seattle, Unexpected Productions is my go-to place to laugh it out. Their shows are consistently witty and fun, and they're always rolling out new shows to check out! Even though technically every show is a new show. Because it's all made up. Located right next to the infamous Gum Wall at Pike Place, it's definitely a must-visit if you're in town. If you live in town, check out their classes! They're really fun, too! More...
Kudos to Yelp for bringing us here (and for the discount tickets via the app!). I'm generally not a fan of "Improv Sports," but it's a hilarious act with some great talent at Unexpected Productions. A group of four us went to enjoy and really enjoyed the show. I even got to be an audience participant in one of the sets in an unforgettable "whale basket weaving" of an experience! A great night to remember. You'll belly laugh and have a good time here. Just go! More...
Intimate space hidden away in Pike Market with shows that guarantee some quality laughs. Had a ton of fun here and will be back.
These people are talented, very, very talented! It looks like a tiny place, and then you keep walking and it gets bigger and bigger. The bar isn't very exciting, but who cares about the bar - you have brilliant performers. More...

Good theatre to perform or watch a show
Highly recommend their Theater Sports on Friday and Saturday nights! I bring all my guests from out of town and mon pamplemousse aussi!
Great non profit improv theater. Cheap concessions and drinks. Lots of laughs to be had.
Love this place. Great atmosphere and nothing but good times and laughs. Worth the trip to post.
Best downtown outing experience ever. I got a free ticket by a lovely lady while taking the ferry from Bremerton so I figured I'd give it a shot. I've never been to a live performance theater place before so I wasn't sure what to expect. Since the cover was free, I splurged and got a cocktail. They had a great selection of drinks at a low cost. It didn't take long before I was having a good time. They had a murder mystery show, with all the LOL you can get. One guy even split his pants on stage and was like oh no!!! and I yelled out " Release the Kraken!" every one laughed and he went along with it as if It was part of the scene. It was a thrill to be part of the show unexpectedly. We all got to make howling wolves sounds and other banter. More...
Hole in the wall improv theatre! Had family in for Xmas and this was a great way to end our evening. Audience participation, so much fun!
They had me laughing all night. Great performance!
I had an AMAZING time at their new years eve show! I'll be back next year
We are "senior citizens" who still love to laugh! Visited last Jan from Alaska and are returning to Seattle next week. Planning a return visit, love improv!!!!!! Make us laugh again the evening of the 18th!!! More...
My god these people are amazing! I love them
They truly know how to do an improv show! Not a dis-likable cast member in sight here! Everyone seems to be having a good time and know how to handle bad suggestions, much respect to this lovely bunch of drama enthusiasts.
I went to Theatresports and it was awesome! Lasts an hour and a half and costs $12 or so. Great value! The performers were so talented and funny -- they did a scene in reverse, a skit in the style of Dr. Seuss, and even "Donald Trump the musical." If you need convenient parking, you can go to the Pike Place garage - after 5 PM it's only $5. More...
Home for quality Impov AND theater sports in Seattle's.
Best improv on the city! Def check out the theatre sports show on Friday and weekends!
Well run and fun small theater. Great for a date or a enjoyable time with your buddies.
Great lmprov company. Love the place
The new years party was super nice! Enjoyed the impro theater a lot!
Awesome way to spend any night. I've gone to two improvs here and both were done incredibly. The staff here has a ton of talent! Check it out!
My first time going tonight and it was AMAZING! I even won a prize!I particularly like Michael! He was obviously experienced and was amazingly talented!
I've never had a bad experience with TheaterSports. You can't go wrong here, dates or groups of people. Always funny. Always worth it. They've gone a little too high tech recently and it's a bit off-putting. The old gimmicks with piano playing and a sign with numbers someone had to physically place on the board were part of the charm of the show. The projector is a bit lame. More...
Went with a group for a private event .... Was totally entertained and I'd go back to see this next time I'm in Seattle.
The audience appauded. Shorter than most shows. More than tolerable.
Always a good time! There is some serious talent in this theater!
Had the best time, most unexpected, and, well, improvisational happy hour ever.If you are tired of the same old Friday night, or just want something refreshing - try the happy hour. It is sure to make it a happy night. The audience involvement is perfect: - engaging withing being demanding. Best Friday night in a long time, and a unique experience on top of it all. More...
This piece of Seattle history is amazing! Source of the Gum Wall. Anyway I went I very sceptical. Quickly switched to enjoying myself. It became my default free time show in town. Just recently started in their improv school which is also a lot of fun, and you get into the regular shows for free! Every show is unique. It is a one time thing. Each show is put together for the first time in front of your eyes and will never be performed again. Each show is exclusive and the ones I have seen I quite enjoyed! More...
My husband and I popped in hoping for a night of laughs and boy did we laugh! The improv was great - it was a doubles open-mic style which proved to be quite entertaining. I would recommend a show here anytime and for the price, you really can't beat it! I believe we paid $12 for both tickets. Money well spent! More...
My husband and I popped in hoping for a night of laughs and boy did we laugh! The improv was great - it was a doubles open-mic style which proved to be quite entertaining. The venue was full of character and they provided little tidbits of its history while we waited for the show to begin. The staff was excellent and the performers were hilarious - they held nothing back. Loved it! I would recommend a show here anytime and for the price, you really can't beat it! I believe we paid $12 for both tickets. Money well spent! More...

great time. good drinks. hilarious.
Absolutely love this place! They have such great talent. Great interaction with audience. Also very budget friendly. Would really recommend it!
Unexpected Productions is a Seattle Staple located in Pike's Market. Wander down the cobble street past gum wall to the venue. Always ready with fun improv that rotates new themes each month, however, you can attend every week and it's always different due to crowd suggestions! I come by fairly regularly as they have different shows through the week and a fun comedy HH on Fridays at 7p for just $10 and rotating $15 shows after that. Worth it for all the laughs. The current show, which I was fortunate To see on opening nite is a Firefly themed, space western improv, "the Outer-Rim'" complete with Excellent western music accents, sci-fi sound effects and outfits is going to a new level of AWESOME! If you like improv and Firefly, this is a must see! Such a creative, quick thinking cast and a excellent execution of theme! Unexpected, also has a school in Georgetown where you can take classes to try your hand at this quick witted art. More...
This place has remained consistent over the years. I used to come here in college for improv night and nothing has changed. They have remained true to their form and it is great entertainment every time. The line forms in the alley by the gum wall as seating is first come first serve. On weekends, you are best to buy tickets in advance. The how is about 1.5 hours and I love that the concessions are not a rip off! On the latest trip to see them, there were a few belligerent people in the front row that were starting to ruin it for everyone and the cast handled it gracefully and did not sacrifice the show for the rest of us. The comedy is on point with a good combination of current events and old school comedy styles. Truly, no two shows are the same! More...
I recently attended a Theatre Sports show here at Unexpected Productions. It was a really fun time and I hope to go again soon. A couple of my observations: It's really affordable, I can't think of any other theater that you can go to for $15. The show varies and is very different every time depending on the performers that are working. It's quite late when the show begins, particularly on a Friday night, a 10"30 start can be kind of late for me. Fun time, check it out, fun for a date. More...
I came here with my family last weekend to watch the improv competitions known as TheaterSports. The comedians are split into teams that were pretty funny, and kept the audience laughing throughout the hour long show. The drinks, along with the tickets, are cheap and worthwhile. I will warn everyone that the audience completely dictates the way the show goes, if terrible suggestions are given then the show will suck. So I suggest raising your hand and throwing out ideas when prompted or you'll get stuck with other people's awful humor. Overall, we had a fun time and would come back in the future. More...

Great show! We loved it. Everyone was laughing the whole time... even the 14 year old!
Had a lot of fun. Better to go to later shows with no kids so things can get crazy.
Randomly stopped by on a Thursday night while I was in Seattle. While not the best improv I've seen, the staff was super friendly and the bar was cheap. The actors had a real funny, almost Napoleon Dynamite like bit going that had the crowd rolling. More...
My friends and I enjoyed our evening. The talent there is through the roof. Highly recommend!
This place was sooo fun! Cool location right at the gum wall. We came on improv night and it was hilarious! Drinks were cheap too! I will definitely be back.
Unexpected Productions Improv is a hidden gem. Located beneath pikes market, there are many great restaurants, pubs, bars and other things to do in the surrounding area to make a complete evening. Unexpected Productions does a variety of shows that vary between improv, stand up, and other comedic games. The venue serves a variety of cocktails, beer, wine and a small selection of snacks. Typically the venue hosts more than one show a night. I personally enjoy the stand-up, and comedic games the most because they are the easiest to follow along. Additionally, the venue is very casual. On most nights it is possible to get tickets at the door. As an added bonus, once you buy admission to one show, you are allowed to stay for the remainder of the evening. More...
Friday night show; My first improv show ever! Verdict is...it Was an epically great time; the team members did an amazing job, the venue is the perfect combo of awkward and enchanting and I shared it all with good company.. = satisfaction I will be attending again!! More...
What a great show. Highly recommended. Very talented group of people!
It was my first time and it was AMAZING! Michael was particularly good! He's obviously experienced!
It was good but not great! It would be nice if they had more information on how long each scene is suppose to be and how many scenes in one sitting. Would also be nice to see the inside pictures. More...
My wife & I totally enjoyed Valentine's Day there. Funny. Captivating. Engaging. Mostly clean even though some of the audience egged them on to be more bawdy. A fun romp!
Really hilarious performance. Also loved that they kept it strictly apolitical given the current climate.
Awesome gem in Seattle. Went to see a improve show. Perfect for date night or a night out with friends!! I will definitely return!
Great shows (truth or dare and theatresports)
I have loved the shows so far. I also love that they are so interactive.
Clever, artistic, interesting improv. Maybe not as high energy and goofy as other improv I've seen, but more artistic and experimental, which is pretty cool. Bit of a run down theater, but a friendly atmosphere & fun crowd. More...
We walked in and the ambiance was completely on point. Right below the hub of Seattles pike place market within the walls of the gum wall. The show was $10 at happy hour and we had good seats. There were kind workers and the skits were great! I enjoyed Jaclyn, Jessica(Jess), and the younger guy with the beard especially. Would definitely recommend! The only negative was that there was a blatantly drunk woman in the back that seemed to be annoying the entire crowd. But that is out of their control. So this place is a must! More...
It was a random Friday night & we didn't know what to do so an Improv show it was! It was truth of dare style. There were a total of 6 participants and they picked truth/dare and had to attempt with the audience as judges to rate 1-5 (the points they get). The people up on stage are not random people! They work for this place. They were all great and actually made me laugh HAHA some was awkward but that's what makes it interesting. I would probably come back for another show! Free popcorn with Yelp check in!! I finished it all before the show started. More...

One of the most satisfying experiences I have on a regular basis is watching the amazing shows by these amazing people!
This was fantastic! We went here for the Improvised Christmas Carol this year and it was hilarious. They did an awesome job, the show was great, and you got to meet some of the cast members afterwards. Some people there go every year and I can understand why. :) If you want to get tickets, make sure you buy them online ahead of time! They were sold out when we showed up in person but luckily we were able to get on the wait list and get in. Phew! I'm glad we got to go. :) More...
Very fun! They reenacted how I first met my husband and it was very accurate. When I return to Seattle, I would go again!
The show was really funny! Theatre was bigger than I expected and all seats in the house will make for a good show, but get there around 8 to get your choice of seat because it does fill up. A great way to spend a Wednesday night, and cheap too! $3 PBR/Miller Light, $4 draft and bottles, $5 wells drinks More...
Saw An Improvised Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. Great, reasonably priced family entertainment.
Always a great time, and a Christmas improv is becoming a tradition. Well done

Always love seeing a show here. The improvisers are all so talented and the theatre has such a fun vibe. I went to last night's Improvised Christmas Carol and was in tears with laughter.
Best thing to do during the Holiday season is to get your butt down to Pike Place Market. Prefunk like a Boss and then mosey on down to Market Theatre grab a fistful of laughy juice and let the hilarity proceed.
This is my 2nd visit to the theatre in 6 months. This time around it was A Christmas Carol - opening night. It was pretty good. The actors are quick-witted and keep the process flowing, manage the crowd accordingly and delivered a great show. Because it is improv, sometimes people screw up and that's how it goes. It's what you sign up for when you go to this kind of show. The price is reasonable. We had a great time, and the staff run the theatre with a graciousness you don't often see. It's tucked by the bubble gum wall. Go see improv! More...

This is a fantastic place to see an improv comedy show! I have been to Theater Sports few times and just saw the Cotton Gin (improv puppet show)!.
So much fun every time. Guaranteed good time. Chazz is the man.
This theater is amazing. You'll leave knowing you saw something truly unique! I love the constant improvements to the theater and the top notch experience you get for what you pay.
What a wacky cool night ! The allure of candid talking puppets brought us into Theatre Sports tonight. We came to check out The Cotton Gin and ended up staying for two shows in one night. Heck, even participating in the entertainment and fun! This place is awesome. The actors are very creative and animated. The bartender was really kind and provided us with excellent service. I will be stopping by again in the future for different shows and a great weekend experience in Downtown Seattle.Although it was windy and raining cats and dogs tonight we still had a wonderful time in seattle! Unexpected Productions is directly outside of the gum wall - which is disgusting but cool in a gross way! The street was bustling with young adults walking to and from trendy resturants and bars. It was great! More...

Loved it...can't wait to go back..I plan on bringing the rest of my friends..I laughed so hard
Took a chance on seeing the Cotton Gin which is dubbed "a puppet show for adults" and it was a great choice. The cast performs an improv comedy show based on a few topics provided randomly by the audience. They did a great job and kept the audience laughing the whole show. The quick musical interludes between scenes were very well done and downright funny in their own right. Overall this was a great show and we would visit Unexpected Productions again! More...

We took in the 10 pm show last Friday on our first night visiting Seattle and loved it! Improv is a daring and brave endeavor especially when calling for audience members to join. The two "teams" did a fantastic job and were very funny and entertaining. Some of the skits got a bit zany, as improv can sometimes be. We laughed the entire night. Sounds like a song was really funny, and the "tie-breaker" "I like my... like I like my..." was hysterical! More...

Great way to spend an evening, I will be going back.
Kinda of stupid but I got good pics of a friend at the wall.
A hole in a wall place, just a cool experience. The staff was very nice, the interior was a little out of date, but it contributed to the feel of the place and it worked. My first improve experience and I'm looking forward to going again! Some performers were better than others, but that's nothing ti worry about. The place has a bar, too! The coolest thing about it is that the entrance is right smack in the middle of the Gum Wall. More...
