Excellent experience at both Maker's and CF Lions. I was new to many of the CF movements and the coaches have been excellent throughout the training period to ensure I was learning quickly and safely, while still ensuring that I was getting a great workout in. Begun working out again after a long hiatus and would highly recommend Maker’s Body Crossfit to anyone wanting to join a fitness community for the first time or wanting to re-establish their fitness goals.Owner Chris Harrison and The Coaches are personable and supportive, sign up was easy, class are booked through Wodify (very convenient), workouts are well organized, challenging and Coaches keep you motivated throughout. Coaches will also provide you with progressions or alternate exercises if needed.Gym members are friendly and provide that much needed bit of encouragement to push you through that last rep.Maker’s Body Crossfit is a great facility regardless of your fitness level. I have been going to The Maker's Body for 3 years now. Before that I was exercising on and off and could never stick to a regular program. I got bored very quickly with everything I tried. Since starting with you and your team, I have never looked back.I have been going there every single week 3 times a week, always loving it and looking forward to it. The classes are never the same and what I like most is the intensity. Everybody works out at their own level. You compete with yourself and there is a great sense of encouragement coming from the instructors as well as the other class members. All the instructors are very knowledgeable and welcoming. Another great thing is that there are many class options every day, so I can fit it in whatever my schedule. I have never felt better, younger and stronger. They give great attention and instruction so I have proper exercise form and set the right nutrition / lifestyle goals. Always happy to answer questions - and very encouraging. They've created a great community of positive / hard working energy. That inspiration matters to me!The facility itself has slightly harsh lighting, kind of industrial / highly functional but not for everyone.In under a month I've made clear strength improvements. I recently joined TMBCF through the living social voucher. I have had problems my whole life maintaining discipline regarding my fitness and nutrition. I needed to be part of a community where heathy lifestyle takes precedence. I needed to be made accountable to my health. On the other hand, I needed a friendly, ego free atmosphere where I didn't feel turned off or intimidated, or ashamed. I wasn't sure what to expect going in. Since starting I am happy to report I am now a full time member and have also signed up for Tyron's nutrition program. I feel welcome there, and the coaches are super friendly, as well as professional, knowledgeable, and responsible. Tyron's sincerity is obvious, his fitness is outstanding and he is a super nice guy! Tyron's a super friendly guy and a good coach, ensuring you absorb proper technique before beginning so you don't hurt yourself. The gym's a bit "industrial" in feel - but that's probably the way of most Xfit gyms - and perhaps the "no-nonsense" decor helps one focus on the essential spirit of arduous physical activity. Xfit ain't cheap but The Maker's Body is very competitively priced with other gyms around the city. I'd definitely recommend this place! More...

This place is great! I was a little apprehensive of starting CrossFit but the coaches here made that initial experience very positive. Tyron, Mich, Brit, and David are not only welcoming and encouraging but they truly focus on the proper form of the exercises and lifts. In addition, the coaches challenge you without sacrificing safety, form and technique by always offering different scaling for the WODs. I had been bodybuilding for several years at a number of different recreational gyms and I could not break through a certain threshold. I felt confined to the same old, boring, un-motivating, dull gym regime. Sure, I was able to put on some size and gain a couple of inches on my arms, but surely I was carrying around a decent amount of junk around my mid-waist. I was constantly struggling with shoulder injuries, knee pain and overall joint instability. This was all before I had a major breakthrough and decided to seek more information on crossfit. I was extremely hesitant to the idea of working with kettlebells and doing countless burpees. Luckily, Maker's Body offered me a week free trial at their gym with no membership obligations and I came to the realization that crossfit is not all that it's made out to be. Crossfit has been designed to incorporate all major aspects of fitness such as strength, mobility, flexibility and conditioning into the routine. Within my first month, I was able to trim off a few pounds of body fat without having to diet whereas my overall weight went up higher, interesting eh? I've gained more strength in all my major compound lifts such as deadlifts, bench, squat, power cleans and shoulder press. The coaches are fantastic and provide you with all the proper support and training. I am growing stronger, more flexible, more mobile day by day, and I would like to send a special thanks to Maker's Body for allowing this to happen. I really like how the classes are small enough that the coaches are actually paying attention to how you're doing. They give good tips, and always make sure you understand what's going on. At the beginning of 2015, I was pushing 162 pounds. At the end of 2015, I was 139 and much stronger than I've ever been in my life. I attribute that transformation to workouts 3-4x per week at The Maker's Body CrossFit and tracking everything I eat with MyFitnessPal. The Maker's Body has great coaches who meet you at whatever ability you come in with. There are always modifications of the workouts so that ANYONE — beginner, senior, or injured athlete, not just competitive CrossFitter — can get a great workout and continue to do so free of injuries. After an intensive search on the Internet for a Boot Camp class, I found the ideal gym place for me: The Maker’s Body CrossFit! Here are my main reasons to become a member of it:1) The place is clean, with big open space, various gym equipment, clean washroom and well maintained, free parking spots, and location easy to access right crossing the bridge.2) Flexible classes schedule, am/pm all days and week-ends. Free trial the first week!3) Easy on-line booking. 4) Website well organized and with clear explanations and instructions.5) And first thing to say, the owner, Tyron - himself instructor, and the other instructors Michelle and Brittany are friendly, encouraging and stimulating. They conduct an intelligent, well designed program for classes. Starting with introductory classes, the Foundations, and continuing with the regular ones, each class is different, with a variety of exercises, engaging different parts of the body in a good balanced activity. I had the fortunate opportunity to experience Maker's Body CrossFit during the last round of Metabody Fitness Passes (early 2013) from Groupon. I must say the drop-in classes were a gift and a curse. First the good: The facility is fantastic. A very modern gym with all of the things you'd need to achieve your aspired fitness goals. Kettle bells, barbells, climbing ropes, TRX straps and so on; the facility is clean, organized and fully loaded. Having only completed my 10 drop-in classes for the CrossFit Foundations (teaches basics and fundamentals of CF finishing with a solid workout at the end), I can only comment and review that portion of my Maker's Body experience. And I must say, it is an extremely awesome experience! The foundations classes walks you through some of the more complex movements and exercises that will appear during the regular CrossFit sessions. This teaching process is well-paced and very fun. This, in no small part, is a direct result of Tyron the owner and lead instructor at Maker's Body. He is a charming, well-educated and FIT instructor who really cares about the facility and its participants. His knowledge for health and fitness in addition to his obvious passion for CrossFit is quite infectious and drew me back time and again. My friends and I all agreed that he's really the cherry on top of an already stellar metaphorical sundae. Now for the bad: The price of admission is rather steep. Especially for those on a budget who may also be accustomed to only paying $30-$50 per month for their gym passes; it was the biggest obstacle to my not returning after the Groupon had run its course. Another small gripe is the location. Because I live in Vancouver, it was a bit of a trek to drive across to North Van in order to make the classes. Was it worth it? HELL YES!!! However, until my finances stabilize and I can better dedicate myself, Maker's Body will remain a pipe dream and fond, fond memory. For anyone on the North Shore who is looking for a CrossFit facility that is welcoming and very, very well constructed... I highly recommend The Maker's Body CrossFit and Boot Camp. More...

Having gone to this Boot Camp for a number of months before I had to stop for personal reasons I found this boot camp a Truly wonderful experience, the instructors were inspirational and they motivated us to be better each time, in all aspects of the work outs. Each month there are new routines and each week they alter the types of work outs so you do not get bored and to give your muscles a new twist on regular routines. Now both my daughters go there and they are as inspired as I am. I HIGHLY recomend this Boot Camp in North Vancouver for a New way to inspire you to get Fit and Hav HUGH amounts of fun. Give it a GO. This is a great bootcamp! A real challenge which is what I wanted. The trainers are fun and friendly and really encourage you throughout the workout. They also recognize that people have different levels and respect that but help you try harder if you can. I really enjoyed the different workouts set for 2 days in a row as it changed things up. If your story is anything like mine, you will LOVE this place. I had been looking for some sort of activity/workout to get back into shape and see results, and after having spent $$$ on gym memberships and not using them to their potential I decided that I needed a more structured exercise/work-out regime. Initially, it was about losing weight and trying it out for a month. But now after 2 1/2 months and lots of pounds lighter & much stronger than I've ever been, I can't imagine life without it. And when you've been searching for something so long and you find it, you will never let go. It's just a part of my life now. There's tons of classes to choose from throughout the day that would fit every lifestyle, the variety of workouts are great, and the trainers are very kind and friendly. Most importantly the owner is a genuinely great guy that truly cares and want to get you to your goal. Wouldn't you wanna work-out in an environment like that? If you're still unsure just give it a try for one week and I will promise you that once you start you won't stop. More...

I've tried many gyms and diets and shakes and never saw such impressive results nor as fast as I did with Makers. After the first workout at half the intensity, I was sore and stiff as heck for 3 days but I pushed myself to return and within a week (3x/week) I saw my arms and legs tightening up, my middle was getting stronger and firmer already and that has always been the bane of my existence. I felt strong sleek and confident in how I look and it's addictive! I actually look forward to working out now because I SEE the difference. I still eat the same way I always eat. I like how different days have workouts that target different muscle groups so every part of your body gets worked on. For example) Mon & Tues have Workout A, Wed & Thurs has workout B, Friday has Workout C and Saturday has Workout D. You can track your progress and strength building from Workout A from Week 1 to Week 2. Another perk is that the muscles used in Workout A get a break to repair and recover while you focus on another group of muscles for Workout B. More...

I have been going to Maker's for just over a month now - and am so gratified by the changes I see already! I am so much stronger, my cardio level is higher - AND pants feel more loose! The trainers are great - and will PUSH you - knowing you can be stronger.
