Love their bourbon, great place for a tasting. They made the best gin I ever had but I can't find it anywhere anymore I hope they still make it.

Such a great time! My (now) husband and I brought 30 of our wedding guests for lunch and tasting at Tuthilltown the day before our wedding. It was so much fun! The staff handled the group with grace, and provided a lot of background and knowledge. There were so many great options so everyone was able to taste. We just had such a great time. Thank you to the team. More...

Tuthilltown/Char 1788 is an incredibly unique and beautiful venue for a wedding. Where do I even start. My husband and I had the wedding of our dreams here and the venue and staff far exceeded our expectations. We had our small 25 person ceremony outdoors on the lawn, our cocktail hour near the barn, and the reception upstairs in the Char 1788 restaurant. Sarah was so helpful during the planning process and even had a special checklist that kept us organized. The Bridal and Groom cottage was a big bonus with delicious treats and champagne as we got ready for the big day. Sarah made sure to keep my stress levels low, left us alone the day of and only checked in when needed. We were originally going to have our family help decorate our reception but had a scheduling snafu and Sarah and her amazing staff stepped in without hesitation to decorate our reception BEAUTIFULLY. It was literally beyond my imagination. The venue was extremely accommodating and even allowed us to decorate our ceremony area with potted plants. As kind of a clueless bride, Sarah was my go-to and even helped me practice my kicking motion as I descended down the stairs before the ceremony :) Our cocktail hour was beyond perfect with beautiful Edison lights lining the outdoors area all over the venue. It was truly magical. Drinks and food far exceeded our expectations..we were a bit nervous initially but everything from the cocktail food to the reception plated dinner was impeccable and beautifully prepared. Our guests were raving about the dessert and the food. Sarah also made it very easy for us to bring in our own vendors for cake, band for cocktail hour, makeup and photography. HUGE thanks to Sarah for managing our music playlist and ensuring that our family’s speeches went smoothly as we timed them according to certain songs being played (we curated our own reception playlist). Tuthilltown’s professionalism and unparalleled staff of bartenders, coordinators, cleaners and servers was BEYOND! More...

My wife took me here for my birthday, and so we went on a Saturday in October. Everything in that area is beautiful that time of year of course but the distillery was amazing! We did lunch, tour and tasting. The tour was so cool to see a place that started out so small and now is getting some of the benefits of having a larger company's funds hooking them up with some new equipment. We would like to single out LION (I think that's how you spell it, he said you pronounce it like the animal!) as an AMAZING tour guide! He was so informative and funny, so entertaining and down to earth---if the distillery ever has commercials or a TV show, he should be the star! The booze, of course, was ALL good and the tasting is definitely worth it. Would go again and recommend to anyone who is intersted in bourbon/spirits, or anyone who just wants to spend a fun afternoon in the hudson valley! More...

A must go to if you are in the area! It was quiet and peaceful while we had an intimate tasting. I found my new, favorite gin and my partner indulged in bourbons and whiskeys. I wish we had planned to go to the restaurant on sight. There's always next time... In summary: I simplified loved this place! More...

While doing a winery and distillery tour in the area, we stopped at Tuthilltown Distillery. We were immediately greeted and felt welcomed. We did our tasting with Lyon who was entertaining, funny and knowledgeable. I am not much of a whiskey or bourbon drinker, but the Vodka's were good and the Gin was great! I was not a gin drinker until I had their Half Moon Orchard Gin. So delicious! If I lived in the area, I would be a regular at this distillery. More...

This place is phenomenal. We love their alcohol selection even items such as whiskey aged coffee are amazing. I also buy their empty bottles for my own tinctures. Its a bummer the new Char restaurant down the hill is such a downgrade from old place. It was amazing pair of places More...

Great experience. Take the tour of this fine artisanal distillery. An hour tour and taste testing is only $15. The distillery is a monument to good old fashioned American ingenuity and the craft of small batch distilling using only the finest primarily local ingredients and the final products, award winning bourbons and rye whiskeys, a number of lovely fruit infused vodkas and the best maple syrup I've had in my life. Aged in the used American white oak charred barrels that give the whiskeys their exquisite taste profile, it is utterly delicious. The distillery store carries all the various liquors, maple syrup, and clever kits including sections go the charred American white oak barrels for infusing this distinctive taste to whatever you want to experiment with. They run a number of special events and it really pays to get on their mailing list. The staff was friendly and folksy and the ambience is as mellow as the bourbon. A highly recommended visit and only 6 miles south of the State University at New Paltz. More...
