Good experience all around. Lot's of memorabilia for the John Wayne fan. The food was good, except for the "daily special" which was chicken salad on a croissant. It was very bland, but our server, who was excellent, replaced it with my choice of a french dip sandwich. That was very good. Parking was right in front of the building with just a few steps up with handrails.

Solid burgers. Pasta pesto was tasty. Service was prompt and the price was fair. Plus it has a cool thing going with True Grit and John Wayne trivia and memorabilia. It's family friendly, and also has a good beer selection.

We just LOVE the True Grit Cafe! It's a fun place to bring out of town visitors because of all the John Wayne memorabilia. The food is delicious and good value for money. And the wait staff is really attentive.

Wonderful Hambugers & onion rings! Salads real lettuce! Food was terrific & $10 - $13 a plate. Lots on the menu. Cutiest town & True Grit was filmed there!

We love this place & we're there so often they know us by name. Other restaurants should take pointers from The True Grit Cafe. The waiters & waitresses are the best & its obvious they've all been trained. They make you feel welcome, they obviously enjoy their job & its rare that our ice tea glasses are ever empty. The food is the best part of True Grit; everything is prepared just right & everything is LARGE! We usually split a meal & then split their Mud Pie.

Third visit, the shrimp tacos are phenomenal. Highly recommend them and Moose Drool beer. A true for mecca John Wayne fans, could only improve if John Wayne movies were on the TV

Warm friendly service and welcoming atmosphere. Great John Wayne "True Grit" movie memorabilia. A "neat" place to stop while passing through Ridgeway. Food was good too!

Liked the place. Average sized selection of beers. I ordered a burger, MR. It came out med to medrare. The bartender was caught up in a conversation with a regular, but it was tasty all the same so I didn't interupt. I would go back. Another thing I really liked is they close for a couple of days every spring to deep clean the place. You can tell. So all in sll, if it hadn't of been for the over cooked burger, it would have been a five.

The food was kinda average. The atmosphere was great. John Wayne memorabilia everywhere. We did question why they had a hockey game on t.v.. instead of John Wayne. The town itself is very cool. Lots of old historical buildings.

Great place to eat. The food was outstanding, and the mixed drink was really good. Service was excellent, and if your a veteran, they give you an excellent discount.

Love the history there. Food is great at a good price. Good family spot. Plenty of setting most often, upstairs or down. Old countryside comfort. Never been disappointed.

Okay, you think you are hitting a tourist trap. And in a way you are. There are very few restaurants in this area and they capitalize on that. We were very pleasantly surprised on the quantity and quality of food. I got the chicken fried steak and split it with someone else in my group. The server was nice and friendy, even though she had just pulled a double shift. Everyone's food was hot, we'll portioned and good. Definitely recommend.

True Grit is like an old friend you get to see when you come to Ridgway. The menu contains nothing but standard cafe fare, but the food is always noticeably good—better than might be expected, in fact, considering the palpably casual, easy-going atmosphere. In that respect True Grit mirrors the temperament of John Wayne, whose posters cover the restaurant's walls and who starred in the movie for whom the restaurant is named, and which was filmed, in part, near Ridgway. True Grit's prices are nice. Drinks are generously poured, and the bartender never seems bothered if you submit extra specifications as to how you want your martini made. Highly recommended.

I was told by many people that "you have to eat at The True Grit Cafe." Well My husband and I were not disappointed. You could acutely taste the burger and the toppings just a bonus. The Loaded Chile cheese fries were spicy and delicious. The people were friendly and the serves was great.
