This restaurant is a must visit if you are in the area of Ridgway or Ouray or even just passing through. The building is a tribute to John Wayne and the original True Grit movie of 1969. There is John Wayne memorabilia everywhere in the restaurant and especially upstairs. As you enter the restaurant, look to the left and you see the wall that was visible in the opening minutes of the movie. Across Lena Street is the park that was in the movie that had the hanging scene in it. There are so many things to see from the movie in Ridgway and at Owl Creek Pass, a few miles away. You can even see Chimney Rock from Ridgway which was the background in the shooting scene at the end of the movie. The food has been very good to excellent, and the service has always been excellent. The owner and her staff have always done a great job! You will definitely enjoy this restaurant if you are a John Wayne fan or a fan of movie locations. More...
