Tring Computer Repairs

I took two laptops to be fixed at the same time. The first one had a broken charging port pin, I know it was broken because it had snapped of and I had it my hand to show him when I gave him the laptop. He stated it was a quick and easy job to repair, then after 3 weeks he told me it wasn’t the charging port that was the problem as he had replaced it and it still wouldn’t power up, he claimed it must have been the battery, despite me showing him the broken charging pin. Not believing his claim I took the laptop back off him and sent of to PC World repair service. They told me the charging port had been installed upside down and this had then caused both the battery damage but also caused CPU damage. They charged me £280 to repair damage they say was clearly caused by faulting fitting of the charging port. He has then claimed PC World staff are not trained or qualified and don’t know what they are talking about. When asked for his training he stated some Microsoft course, which turns out to be a software course not hardware.
The second laptop needed a keyboard replaced, when I picked it up, the keyboard he had fitted did not fit the laptop base, he had installed a completely different keyboard that I then had to hold on with masking tape. He stated he would order a base to fit the wrong keyboard, but that would still not fit the screen, not to actually fit a correct fitting keyboard, that has now cost me another £160 to repair.
So that’s £440 spent repairing damage and poor work he has done and charged me £200 up front for, despite his website claims on refunds he will not offer refund for his work or payment for damage he caused.
There are similar horror stories on other review sites, do not trust him do do any hardware repairs, you will pay to undo all his damage. More...

I thought I'd lost my beloved Dell laptop when it simply refused to boot whilst on holiday in England. The warranty period had just run out and I needed to use it desperately. As I was low on cash towards the end of the holiday, I couldn't afford to pay what the shops in London were demanding for the fix - so I looked further afield and found Tring Computer Repairs. Great, professional service. I thought my beloved MacBook Air was finished after a coffee spill but within 2 days they had it running like new - and it cost far less than Apple quoted me for a repair! Very pleased!

Tring Computers came to resolve an email issue in Thunderbird. They came out the same day. The program was corrupt so could not be fixed. It was suggested installing Outlook which I agreed to. I was not charged for the call out and told they operated a "No Fix No Fee". I was surprised but pleased. They were back the next day supplied, installed the new software, and I was back up and running with emails. I was very pleased with the service and the charge for the new software, and time to install etc was very reasonable.Subsequently my wife experienced the same problem with Thunderbird and we asked Tring Computers to install Outlook. Again they were there the same day, supplied and installed the software and only charged me a reduced fee as a repeat customer.We were pleasantly surprised how prompt, friendly and reasonable their charges are.
