Andy is an absolute superstar! We have worked with Andy over several months, he has been supporting us with our rescue dog Kibibi who was having problems interacting with other dogs. Andy is non-judgmental, very patient and great at training people as well as dogs. He taught us to read Kibibi's body language and have a much more positive relationship with her when out on walks and seeing other dogs. He also trained us in how to use a long-line and we practiced Kibibi's interactions with his own dogs. Would highly recommend and we will most definitely be using Andy again in the future. More...

Our young labrador started to get stressed when out and about soon after his first birthday, and things gradually got more tricky with other dogs and things in the wider environment potentially sending him into a spin. Having had an easy dog last time, this was a big shock. It wasn't until seeing about Andy in a newsletter from our vet's that we contacted him.Andy has enormous experience and diagnosed the situation at the first meeting. The relief in talking to someone who could make sense of the situation was huge. He explained the condition of hyper-reactivity, its likely cause being genetic, and that he was not a severe case. However he also made plain that bringing about change would take time and commitment on our part.We have met about 6 times over the past year. Every session has been a pleasure and a great encouragement. Andy is very positive. He understood my anxiety as well as understanding how Monty was feeling. He has provided fantastic advice, feedback and support. All his methods are kind and based on positive reinforcement, from a scientific understanding of a dog's brain and behaviour. The result is a 2 and a half year old, happy, waggy, loving, friendly dog who can mix and play freely on the beach, and with all the family. He is also walking much better on the lead:work in progress!!Thanks so much, Andy! More...

I can't speak highly enough of Andy - he's amazing. I was skeptical anyone would be able to achieve a great deal with our two Belgian Shepherds; they're not a breed that's known all that well and it's fair to say they have their unique characteristics (like many breeds). We didn't have any really serious problems, just one who we now know is very stressy and the other reacting to that - as well as having selective hearing. It was very noisy and manic at home, and they were a real handful to take anywhere.

What Andy has achieved, and taught me, in just a few sessions is remarkable. From the first, he had them calm and attentive - they love him - and, with what I've learnt from him, the progress we've made already is beyond what I could have hoped for. They are both visibly happier, and my stressy boy is calming down more and more as time goes on.

We still have a long way to go, but for the first time in 5 years I do have faith we'll get to a place where they're both calmer, and happier, with Andy's help.

I can't recommend Andy highly enough.

He was crazy on the lead when we got him, he was nervous and everything over stimulated him. We began to wounder what we had let ourselves in for, so called for the help of a trainer recommended to us by the vets. The trainers methods were old school and very correction led which we did not like and therefore never used with zues so the issues continued until we met Andy. He uses positive reinforcing which for zues was the best way due to his many anxieties. Frankly, I don't know what I would have done without Andy's advice and help. We have had the most wonderful German Shepherd dog for nearly a year, but sadly for him he was brought up in show kennels and had never lived inside until he came to live with us at twenty months. When we brought him home, it took a lot of encouraging just to bring him through the front door. He had never been for a walk and had spent most of every day in a kennel. Going out became a massive problem as he began to become more confident and started lunging at other dogs. Because of his size and strength, it was difficult to know how to control him. And this is where Andy came in! Although I have had many dogs over the years and thought I knew all about training methods, Andy has been able to explain to me (with an incredible amount of patience!) about training positively and without force, which has been totally enlightening for me. I only wish I'd known about this years ago. Even though Blu is more confident now, he's still a nervous and sensitive boy and Andy is not only bringing out the best in him, but perhaps more importantly, in me too. Andy came to our address as arranged and it was quickly apparent that he is one of the nicest people you could meet, very friendly but extremely knowledgeable about his subject matter. Andy clearly knows the science behind dog behaviour and then explained it in simple 'layman terms' that we could implement to help Willow. I found Andy on the internet after much much research into who I wanted to have me help train my 3 Newfoundlands (one 15month old, and siblings of 4months old – all three rescues), who’d suffered numerous levels of trauma in a very short space of time. I chatted with numerous trainers local to me before I found Andy…and I was deeply saddened by some of the training methods still in existence that some of the trainers were talking to me about on the telephone. My belly turned uncomfortable somersaults and I knew there had to be another way. I was looking for kinship with my woofs and Andy’s ways of training totally echoed how I felt about my dogs and how my woofs should be treated: with utter love and respect…and my intuition only wanted to adopt the positive reward-based training approach. I’d much rather have a kerjillion woofer treats in my jacket pocket than use force or pain.

My faith in Andy runs deep as he has been exceptional in helping me with my three beauty.full woofs who I love dearly. His continued support and wisdom, compassion and care, not just for my woofs, but also for me is outstanding, touching base frequently and reaching back whenever I’ve sought for advice or have encountered something I was struggling getting the woofs to understand: Andy speaks woof, and was able to translate what I wanted into woof so that my dogs were able to understand what it was I needed from them (eg. not jumping up, taking the stairs into the back of the Landie, guarding issues, confidence building…..). Andy’s capacity to love the woofs he works with, opens the door to a training tool that is incredible, helping me educate my woofs in a really fun way…even when some of the behaviours like jumping (Bear weighs 75kg and is still a pup!) are a little more challenging and frustrating, Andy’s ‘problem’-solving hints and training methods are awesome.

Furthermore, Andy has instilled a confidence in me that is so precious, as having more than one dog, having three dogs (and big dogs!) has felt like I have eight! But, love also multiplies three times as fast, and I was beginning to lose sight of that as I struggled with integrating the two rescue siblings into my ‘one-woof’ family. In helping me create order in the fuzzy chaos through some environmental change suggestions, as well as suggesting a change in foods (I have always fed raw but incorporated kibble, and have since changed kibble based on Andy’s advice), and thereby helping me manage the tension that was building up, especially between the boy-pup and Bear, Andy has helped me regain my own confidence in maintaining and continuing to create a beautiful harmony in my trio of fuzz home! Andy’s calm behaviour methods and ideas are real life strategies that encourage awesome behaviour in dogs and still allowing woofs to be the joyful woofs nature intended our four-legged companions to be. He is an ambassador for training that comes from a deep love of dogs, teaching not only woofs but owner, that learning full of love is fun and deeply rewarding. Thank you, Andy, for everything that you have done, and continue to do for us.

Fantastic dog behaviourist - highly recommended. Andrew initially offered real support after a very dangerous experience with a self-styled 'dog expert', and then started working regularly with me and my lead-reactive laborador. ..he shows patience and complete understanding of dogs (and their owners!), with clear, achievable goals, and excellent handouts which are really easy to follow. It is all positive-based and everything he asks you to do is clearly explained in the context of how it will help your dog change his behaviour, and at the same time you build confidence, trust and a happier relationship with your dog...and most importantly, he has a real bond with dogs which you can see immediately from the first meeting...my dog loves him :) More...
