I contacted Toni’s Web Design when it became clear my current web design agency wasn’t delivering as expected. What makes a great website?
Your website is no longer a URL at which you park the existence of your online business. It’s usually the first and most powerful presentation of your business – who you are as a company, what you offer, and why your products and services are better than all the rest. 81% of shoppers conduct online research before making big purchases. The quality of your website is critical. Since it’s likely that your competitors have an incredible website, expectations are high, and you must at least meet the bar, if not exceed it. If you want to stay in the game, you’ve got to have a website that makes it easy for your users to browse your products and services, make purchases, and to interact with your business.
So what makes a great website is one that is minimal (clean, well organized) with a clear message and stand out call-to-action. Your site should be user-friendly, easy to navigate, and be responsive on any device. Your site should also be secure with an SSL certificate - now a requirement from Google who gives preference to secure websites. Build it and they will come doesn't exist - too many websites out there and lots of competition - so your site should be SEO optimized for local searches.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
I have a variety of questions I ask - in fact, I have an online questionnaire that I have clients complete - but typical questions include the type of business, their goals, their target audience, ideal clients, what they want to achieve with their website, etc.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping others grow their business through strategically built websites and digital marketing. Nothing is more rewarding to me when a client tells me they had to start a hiring campaign to try and keep up with demand. Or that their phones are constantly ringing. Or that they are now getting 5-6 web forms submitted per day when they never got any before. It's a great feeling knowing I'm helping others reach their dreams.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I've always had that entrepreneur bug, but what made me specifically want to own and run my own web design business came down to wanting more control over how things were done. I've had countless clients come to me after an experience with another designer in which they paid a lot of money to only be let down, or worse, never got the results they were expecting. I simply wanted to make a positive impact by providing business owners the design and marketing they truly deserved.
