Hello my name is Tom, I'm an experienced drum teacher based in Lee-on-the-Solent. I teach privately from my location and peripatetically in the surrounding areas, having taught all age groups from beginners to advanced on a one to one and group basis. Aside from my private lessons, I've held seminars for A-level students at colleges and taught for reputable teaching businesses.

If you are looking to take up the drums or looking to sharpen your skills as a drummer; whether you're aiming to accomplish your grades, play in bands, work up to professional level, or simply to immerse yourself in the joys of drumming; then I can provide you with the knowledge, practice material, playing critique/advice, and challenges to guide you towards achieving your ambitions. Lesson subjects include: Technique, fundamental/stylistic/famous groove study, rudimentary exercises applied, solo and fill ideas, reading and sight reading, tuning etc.

I offer tutoring services at my home facility in Lee-on-the-Solent which has free parking. Or alternatively I can travel to those located in local and surrounding areas including Fareham, Portsmouth, Southampton; although this may incur a slight increased fee dependent on distance.

Lesson start from £20 - 60 minutes or £10 - 30 minutes.


About:

I first picked up a pair of sticks at age 8 after becoming inspired by drummers like Dominic Howard (Muse) and Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers). I took one to one lessons and achieved my grades up to 8, achieving distinction. Later, after spending invaluable time with one of the UK's leading educators Pete Riley, I turned professional in my late teens. Since then, I've performed overseas and worked for companies including Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean Cruises and Warner Leisure. I regularly perform with function bands at weddings and events throughout the year and continue to work on musical theatre productions, with originals groups, jazz groups, and big band/swing bands.
