Let me start by saying THANK YOU to TMD Enterprises! My nonprofit organization needed a last minute photographer/videographer and Tom (Owner of TMD) went above and beyond to help us pull it off. Working with a limited budget and resources, I was desperate to find a company that would provide top-quality work while being able to work with the needs of a nonprofit organization. Which understandably, is not an easy task! Tom was willing to work within my constraints and provide top-of-the-line professionalism and quality of work. Throughout our three-day event in DC, TMD was capturing every amazing moment through photos and videos. Due to the nature of our work, sometimes stories can get very emotional/personal. Tom was compassionate, welcoming, and energetic throughout the event - making myself, participants, and fellow staff feel comfortable and excited to be documenting this wonderful experience.We will be sure to make TMD Enterprises our go-to media partner whenever we are in the Washington DC area for conferences, gatherings, Hill Day visits, etc. You will NOT be disappointed! I work for a nonprofit organization and was in need of a photographer and videographer for a three day graduate gatherting in DC. Throughout our event Tom (owner of TMD Enterprises) was capturing every moment through photos and videos. Due to the nature of our work, sometimes stories can get very emotional/personal. Tom worked with The Equality March 2017 and we couldn't have been more pleased with results and job he did (especially in sweltering 95 degree temps and over 80K people on the streets). I book a ton of event photography, and the thing I love best is when the photographer understands the tone of the event. Most times he is there and I am not, so he needs to make quick decisions. Tom was very accommodating , flexible, and friendly! Guests at our wedding commented about how hard he was working to capture images and doing so in a way that did not come across as aggressive or annoying. Rather, he was very "go with the flow" and kind to all the guests with requests. I have appreciated how communicative and caring Tom has been following our event. He was great about sharing the images with us quickly and understanding when I got busy with other tasks. He responds to questions and requests with patience and kindness. I appreciate his collaborative spirit very much! What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
The key to a good shot is not only having the accessability to shoot from anywhere and for any subjects to relax and be themselves. Candid photos are best.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What would the use of the photograph be? The client is the director, so we'd ask and be aware of the image that the client wants to have not what we want them to have. We'd want to know who most importantly would the photos mean the most to. We'd also ask, if you could do anything, what is one shot you wish you could have. We've been known to make things happen.
What do you love most about your job?
I love the fact that our images will live on much longer than ourselves. We understand the image we take could be a puzzle piece to connecting families or stories, or history and therefore we know how important it is to capture the moment and understand the value the photo or video is to the client.
What inspired you to start your own business?
A love of capturing a moment in time that can be shared, and if I can live and survive doing something I love - life will be much happier.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are a small Southeast Washington, DC small business. When we are not contracted we are doing what we can to better our community. We understand that the images we capture could be used to remember a moment in time or capture moments that can be used to enhance their business. As a business owner we get it, we know our part and how important it is to get the right shot - thats our role to support our client so they can have the tools to grow and be more successful.
