We asked Jane and Tiago to give a consultation for an extension on a semi-detached house with very limited expansion space to the side and rear gardens. They came up with some really wonderful ideas and presented us with beautifully constructed 3-D models to accustom us to the new design. We have worked with Tiago Faria and Jane Considine on two projects.. The first was the renovation and refurbishment of our house. Built in 1803 it needed quite a lot of structural help as well as a complete makeover. Jane and Tiago quickly identified our priorities and needs and advised us how to proceed. We decided not to extend the house so our energies and budget went into making the existing 19th century house (large kitchen and sitting room downstairs, 3 bedrooms and bathroom upstairs) as comfortable and styllsh as possible. Thoughout the process Jane and Tiago were conscientious, imaginivative thoughtful, and completely in tune with our needs, The end result was just what we had envisaged. The integrity of our house was maintained, with a number of contemporary stylish twists which have made it distinctive and very attractive. When we decided to extend our 19th century cottage on Sherkin Island, Co Cork we immediately turned to Tiago and Jane for help. They quickly came up with a design which gave us extra space and comfort in a distinctive and orgiinal way. They managed the physical distance between Dun Laoghaire where they are based and West Cork wih ease. They developed a positive and constructive relationship with John Lar O'Donovan, the local builder who did the work. My name is Garry Rowan ,and I work as a building contractor specialising in house refits and extensions to private homes . I have worked with Jane and Tiago on two extensions ,one in Monkstown and the other based in Goatstown .The First project in Monkstown ,entailed removing the back of the house on the ground floor level .A large open planned area ,with a bathroom and lobby area to the garden were added on and floor to ceiling glass was added .The build was completed with a polished concrete floor with walnut panelling on the walls .I can only describe it as functional ,cosy ,cool and has changed the house totally for the better .The second job in Goatstown was a further extension to a private residence with a pitched roof finish complete with two veluxes .Once again ,the dynamics of the house were changed completely and the clients delighted with the end results .
When I think of Jane and Tiago ,IMAGINATION comes to mind ,along with total diligence ,as the smallest details are always worked out .They are always a pleasure to work with and I have found them nothing but courteous and professional.If you are a home owner looking for an Architect this is money well spent .
