I was in a bind as the accounting firm that had served me well for 32 years and less saw after my accountant retired over the past 3 years, informed me that because I handed (my not to complex taxes) two weeks before May 17, that they could not do them. They could file an extension but didn’t estimate taxes owed until 3 days before after it appeared that they wouldn’t (not answering my few emails directly). So I looked with some distrust at Bark and soon enough I got many responses albeit not all of them had a clear way to be evaluated. I needed to (1) see credentials (2) web site (3) references (4) a clear secure way to transfer my information (5) the existence of a physical location (an office) if not being clear about a home office and (6) the possibility of meeting them face to face - only two individuals met the criteria - I decided to take Nike from Treelyne and met her with my wife on May 14 at 5PM at her office. She was clear, her credentials were there and had clear information on her cards and a real office. She provided me with alternatives to send my documentation. I had brought some albeit not all the documentation. As a recently retired individual, I was unsure whether or not some items where tax deductible and whether or not itemized. I caused sobe confusion but over the weekend patiently, little by little and with IRS documentation, she clarified them all and had the taxes ready for revision by 2 PM on May 17. They were electronically submitted on May 17 at 4 PM and I got a confirmation. Although, I exhibit some level of distrust. Nike did not. She didn’t asked for an advanced and we quickly agree on a reasonable fee. She sent me her bill on May 19 and I just paid it. I was truly satisfied.
