I found Thomas at a time I was stressed about wedding planning. He worked to alleviate that stress by answering all of my questions in a clear and concise way. Due to my schedule we emailed throughout the preparation process and spoke on the phone a few days before to finalize any last minute needs though he was always willing to meet in person. I booked Thomas and a second photographer, Katie, both of which were amazing. Thomas photographed my groom and his men while getting ready and they expressed how thrilled they were that Thomas took photos of them in a comfortable way and incorporating things that they enjoyed such as playing basketball, cigars, and playing pool. Katie photographed me and my ladies getting ready and did so in a way that we were comfortable stressing that we should still be ourselves and “act like the camera isn’t there” (which was easier than I thought). They worked with us to make us comfortable and took many candids shots per our request. I would highly recommend Thomas for anyone looking for a photographer. We are so happy that we chose Tommy to be our photographer on our wedding day! It was clear after our first meeting with him that he loves what he does. Our wedding was actually a surprise wedding, so guests thought they were at our engagement party. This required a lot of moving parts and special requests for what was being captured during the series of events that lead up to the reveal. Tommy was on board from the beginning and helped us figure out the perfect timeline to make it all work. Tommy is an easy going and friendly guy which made it easy to be comfortable taking pictures. What do you love most about your job?
My Dad was a full-blooded Irishman from Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, Ireland, my Mum is as Australian as they come, and I’m married to my Mid-Western American sweetheart. Add all of this together, the outgoingness of the Irish, laid-back Australianism, and Mid-Western hospitality: as a result I’m a people person - I love people. Meeting new people, making them feel welcome, and hearing their stories brings me joy. I love seeing people happy, excited and full of hope for their future. That is one of the reasons I think I've always loved photography, the ability to capture moments, to secure memories so they will never be forgotten.
What inspired you to start your own business?
As an eleven year old at our local grocery store I begged my Mother to let me purchase my first film camera, and have been taking photos ever since.
I studied photography and film processing in high school and got to work in a dark room processing my own photos from scratch. I upgraded my blue plastic grocery store camera to a used 1984 Minolta X-370 35mm film camera and spent a lot of money as a teenager on Kodak, Ilford and Fuji film rolls.
I think one of the amazing things about learning photography using film was that you learnt the importance of never wasting a shot, you took the time to get the shot right, because you knew it was going to cost you 50c per photo to print those things! Later on, when I was 19 I bought my first digital SLR and from that point on have been all about Canon.
I love photography, it's been a huge part of my life for over 24 years now, shooting at every chance I get. I've have been shooting photos professionally for 17 years and I'd love to be there for you, to capture the natural joy and excitement of your most treasured and memorable moments.
In the early 2000’s after shooting the weddings of some of our close friends, myself and close friend David Mannah co-founded phao photography which is today one of Sydney's leading wedding photography companies. Today, on the other side of the Pacific Ocean, I live in Kansas City, MO, USA, the heart of America. *I have included some of my photography for you to see.

When quoting customers I try to customize a package that is jam packed with value for money, that not only meets the need described by the customer, but goes above and beyond. Always look for and trust the quality of the product, not just the lowest price tag. You should be willing to negotiate for the best rate and package, but also be able to recognize great value for money when you see it. As a customer for projects I am personally looking for quotes on, I am always interested in the most value for money. I think all customers should seek to find the highest quality work for the most reasonable price.
