Jackie went above and beyond to ensure the flowers and room decor for our wedding day were amazing! The room looked beautiful and the flower arrangements were out of this world right from the flower hair combs to the table arrangements, and my stunning bouquet, we loved them all and I couldn’t have wished for better. Jackie met with us several times before our wedding day and guided us in making the right choices and was understanding when I changed the colour scheme. Having just completed a 6 week upholstery course at The Wood Pile, I can not recommend this place enough. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, stock is brilliant and forever changing and the courses that run are absolutely amazing. I am so proud of myself that I have made a footstool. I couldn’t have done it without the support and guidance from the brilliant tutor. A definite must for DIY projects, to grab a bargain, to stock up on chalk paints, or to learn new skills. More...

I had a great time at the Wood piles Christmas crafts all materials were supplied the tutor was very friendly & knowledgeable. We made decoupaged Wooden Christmas shapes to hang up & a wood block which we sanded painted & stencilled. I was happy with my crafts. Had a great time making a foot stool over the past six weeks. the end result is amazing and definitely something to be proud of! I have always enjoyed my workshops at the Wood Pile- you learn so much and Karen is always on standby with coffee and cake! Fantastic, signed up for joinery and upholstery workshops, one of the best decisions I've made this year. I can't thank Kevin, Karen and all the Team at The Woodpile for their kindness, support and expertise in helping me to acquire a beautifully restored Victorian table and 4 lovely chairs. On finding that the table was a little on the short side to accommodate my growing son they most kindly offered to make some little add-on additions to the legs which not only do the job of raising the table to a suitable height they look like the table was made with them in the first place! After painting for many, many years I was close to giving up stocking paint again. No matter how good the paint is, if the company selling it sucks then the paint quality is irrelevant. After trying Annabell Duke I completely changed my mind, the paint is fantastic, the company is fantastic and they conduct themselves with dignity online and over the phone. I love this place, a real treasure trove. I’ve bought several pieces to upcycle with the Annabelle dukes paints, there is such a range of furniture to suit everyone’s taste. I’ve also bought pieces that been upcycled already, they make a wonderful job of the furniture, and at the same time people are going there to learn new skills or just to enjoy working and using the skills they already have. A fabulous social enterprise venture. I've been many times and bought some lovely bedside cabinets and a standard lamp which was stripped and PAT tested for me. Excellent also for wood which is handy when doing DIY and it always feels good not buying from the big name stores and supporting small local businesses. So much better to buy good quality old wood furniture that needs TLC than buy new from department stores. It is also good to have something original and with the option of painting items if required, then your furniture becomes a bespoke piece.
