I have become a great fan of the Wiener Shack and Grill and have always had outstanding food and service. The bacon jam is awesome on both the hot dog and the hamburger and the bacon wrapped tater tots are perfect with the Sriracha ranch dressing. The pesto parmesan fries are crisp and flavorful. The Wiener Shack & Grill is DELICIOUS! This is a local favorite for our family and the owners of the establishment are always very accommodating to what toppings you want on or off of the hot dogs and burgers. Their food is very inventive and definitely a fusion of different flavors. The burgers are divine and have ingredients like brie, avocado aioli, and fried eggs. Second visit here downtown South Bend. Tuesday's and Thursday's right in front of the Morris from 11a-2p. Support the local business and get a hot dog, it is worth every bite. Wow, just wow. Delicious gourmet flavors on an all-beef hot dog and bacon-wrapped tots. This is definitely the perfect work lunch. The food truck is conveniently parked in front of the Morris at lunchtime twice a week, allowing convenient access to those who work in or near DTSB. I've always heard great things about this food truck and have always made note to go out and try it. So, for Goshen ' s first Friday we all decided to go out and made this our first food stop. I ordered the ultimate bacon Chipotle and my husband ordered the smokey bacon jam, with an order of pesto-parm fries. There was a crispiness to the hot dog and that made it really enjoyable. Good hot dogs. Had some of these from their food truck when they visited Notre Dame this week. They have designer hot dogs, all kinds of different varieities. I haven't been to their restaurant, so I can't comment on that, but I will definitely be in. Short version: friendly service, delicious (and possibly bizarre) food! So good, this deserved to be my first yelp review! My story: When I was visiting Vancouver, Canada, there was a street vendor who served "Japanese hot dogs". They were quite scrumptious, and I was jealous that the city residents could have these fancy dogs anytime they pleased.I am jelly no more.While touring the Wellfield Botanical Gardens during their special "Tulips and Tunes" festival, the Wiener Shack made their presence known. I stopped by their booth to grab a drink (a bottle of Boylan birch beer), and decided to return. Upon coming back, I tried the "Vortex".Ahh, the Vortex. What a fantastic adventure of a hot dog. Take a delightfully seasoned hot dog, add Sargento's provolone cheese, grilled onions, a dash of some raspberry something-or-other sauce, and pack it all into... a glazed twist doughnut.I know what you're thinking: WTF. Well, I guarantee you that it was most delicious. Also, the guy and lady who was running the stand were very friendly and helped me with recommendations.
