I had my birthday night here at The Swan on Saturday 23rd June. The food was beautifully presented and the service at the bar was excellent (thank you Brad). There are menus on the tables for the next morning to indicate paying for hot breakfast if you would like to, other than that there is plenty continental choice if you so wish. The accommodation is of a very high standard, clean and has everything you need. I highly recommend The Swan for any occasion you wish to make special. More...

The White Swan is where I always stay when I am on business in the area. The rooms are small, but nice (I’ve only stayed in the main building) and the staff is lovely. The pub serves good quality food and it is a nice place to spend the evening. The internet speed is also decent and they serve a decent breakfast. More...

Fantastic setting in the garden for pre dinner drinks then amazing food in the restaurant. The presentation was superb and the flavours incredible, all for a very reasonable price. Would definitely recommend for either a quick bar dinner or a smart restaurant, the white swan has everything for every occasion. More...

Stayed in room 25 with the hubby on 24/02/18 and what can I say?! Stunning modern room with an outstanding bathroom! Only gripes we had were not enough milk for cuppas in the room, squeaky doors and only one of each towel in the bathroom so had to share. Apart from those tiny gripes we had a wonderful stay, breakfast was lush and the waitress was lovely, helpful and friendly. We will definitely be using you again on our future jaunts from Essex! Oh and the mattress was a little hard but not a major issue! We slept well enough to make it home in one piece! Well done guys! The White Swan is a winner from us! Mentioning no names....We actually preferred this place to the well known more expensive hotel near Broughton!! More...

2 x prawn cocktail, 1x beef and mushroom pie, 1x gammon I can honestly say, the meal we have had is near to or even the best we have had the pleasure to pay for, full of flavour, plenty of meat, in fact the pie was rammed from top to bottom, a rare feat in it’s self. The vegetables had a definite bite to them, not soggy flavourless pieces of mush. The prawn cocktails were again flavoursome, an excellent meat/sauce/greenery. The ales on tap were various, Yorkshire, Cumbrian plus others, something for everyone. Right, now the ‘bad’ points, the fried egg, more like a deconstructed omelette, personally I love a runny yoke, but not exactly a huge problem. Also, the prawn cocktail came in jar on a piece of slate, firstly ditch the slate, use a plate, the food is good enough not to require gimmicks here, a shallow bowl would be easier to eat from. I have given 5 stars, as to mark down on my personal preferences would not right. The service from the staff was excellent too, friendly, welcoming and actually looking as though they enjoyed their work, which is a rarity nowadays. A big thanks from a couple of visitors More...

Stayed in the new building, accommodation really good. Although I think the price should include full breakfast for those who want it instead of paying extra on top of the continental.

An upmarket place with good food and attentive staff. A nice comfortable outside area complements the 'mucky duck' too. This was a beautiful place to visit it was relaxing and the food was great. The food was so good I would not have put it in a category of pub food. The staff were helpful but could of been friendlier . But I would highly recommend it. Place for play with the kids. Not suitable for wheelchairs. 6 steps to get to the pub. Although there were prams that happily got up the steps. A real treat of a place. More...
